Notes:
This special brew incorporates malted rye in the grain bill lending a spicy character and complex flavors. Generously hopped with Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade and Centennial. This hoppy pale ale has a sneaky bite that will creep up and leave you smiling!

Notes taken from early 2012 (March?) from a bottle share i hosted with the local crew.
Thanks kindly to jbuddle for the trade.
a - deep amber with yellow white head. spotty lacing. great rye smell. some good sweet malt. a bit thin, very rye. water like malt bomb. overall, expected a bit more, but not bad, just not great.

From 07/29/12 notes. Thanks to whoever shared this at our little tasting...always interested in a new Lawson's beer.
a - Pours a deep amber-copper color with two inches of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of pine hops, rye, spices, wheat, grains, oak, pepper, citrus hops, and light fruity malts. A nice mix of hops and oak.
t - Tastes very strongly of hops and oak; even moreso than the nose. Smells of pine hops, oak, wood, earthy notes, spice, wheat, bready malts, citrus hops, grapefruit, and toasted malts.
m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Despite it being very hoppy, not much bitterness. Pretty easy to drink.
o - Overall a nice, different pale ale. While the rye is there, what struck me were all the hops and oak in the nose and taste. Very different from most pale ales, but it works. Worth getting, would like to try it again.

Poured into an imperial pint. Color was a nice darker medium amber, slight reddish hue. A nice 2 finger creamy slightly off white head formed, didn't last long, but stuck a bit to the sides. After the initial pour, next to no carbonation rose from the depths. Aroma was nicely hoppy, with a small hint of sugary sweetness. Flavor was spicy hoppy, not overly so, and was well balanced. Felt good in the mouth. Slightly over tingly, but coated nicely. Overall a respectable beer. Well balanced and pleasant.
