One of our lightest offerings, this German style wheat bier is best served up fresh and ‘mit hefe’ (with yeast). Bursting with fruity aromas and a hint of spice from our weizen yeast.

Kind courtesy of jctribe25 (thanks!). Batch 216, bottle 62. Poured from a 22oz bomber into my .5L Ayinger weissbierglas.

Lightly hazy, gold liquid turns a lighter pear/straw when held to the light; the body is capped by a huge and slowly active fist of voluminous shock white foam. Merengue-like lacing; decent retention.

Lemon zest, white pepper, and gentle bready malt in the nose. Subdued overall.

Tart wheat-forward palate entry accompanied by light unspecific phenols. The yeast adds a faint sourdough quality to the dough-y malt notes. Somewhat dry overall, though lacking both clove and bubble-gum flavors that you might associate with the style.

Creamy, medium-bodied, pillowy mouthfeel.

Nothing particularly wrong with this beer, and it is well brewed (unlike many domestic examples of the style), but fairly one-dimensional and lacking depth. Quite refreshing overall though, and a great beer for the increasing heat of Summer.

Thanks to the Central PA crew for sending this... this kicked off our 4th tasting from the ridiculous bounty we landed in this BIF.

A: pours a cloudy yellow, translucent, 2 finger pillowy head, lots of lacing

S: nose is heavy with lemon, notes of biscuits and malts in the background, some coriander in there as well

T: starts sweet followed by a dash of lemony tartness, finish is somewhat tart, decent balance

MF: light body, medium carbonation

O: nice for style, light, refreshing, nice summer brew

Shared a bomber with dpuia and Josh on 10/2/11. Procured at The Warren General Store during a trip to VT back in June.

A - Poured a hazy pale straw-colored golden liquid with three fingers of billowy white fluff that retained exceptionally and deposited spotty lace all around the glass.

S - Extremely yeasty with plenty of spicy and earthy tones as well as light lemon and citrus notes. Below the surface, there is also a musty presence and faint green apple tartness, giving the aroma a bit more depth.

T - Bready and wheaty malt character with layers of tartness reminiscent of lemon zest and Granny Smith apples. However, the yeast takes center stage and delivers complex notes earth, barnyard and basement mildew. Finishes with light earthy and sharper herbal hop bitterness.

M - Medium bodied with fairly bristly carbonation and a somewhat chewy texture. Finishes with a hint of tartness on the palate amidst mild bitterness.

D - Weiss-K falls somewhere between a Hefe, Berliner Weiss and a Wild Ale... at least to me it does. Tart, earthy, yeasty, spicy and tangy. A complex Hefe for sure.

A: Cloudy, straw yellow. Forms a small surface coating of off white head.

S: Lots of banana. Some lighter clover and an aroma I can only describes as a "slight stink, but in a good way."

T: Very light and effervescent. Light sweetness, banana. Light grass, light lemon. Just lightly flavored in general.

M: Light with heavy carbonation. Fizzy.

O: Drinkable, but just not a very exciting beer. Rather underwhelming. And believe me, as a guy who would doesn't get the opportunity to drink Lawson's very often, but would like to, this beer was more than a bit of disappointment.

Served in a flared pokal.

Thanks to the Central PA group from the Gang Bang BIF for this bottle!

I'm kinda interested in the origin of the name here, but not enough to look it up... Either way, it pours a clear pale sallow topped by plenty of white, rocky foam. The nose comprises grass, wheat, lemon zest, and light orange peel. The taste holds notes of orange flesh, lemon zest, wheat, and coriander. The body is fairly light, with a light moderate carbonation and a finish that comes pretty damn close to crisp. Overall, not a bad beer, really, but one that really underwhelms in pretty much every category. I haven't had such a blah hefe in a long time...

Thanks for dashirey for the chance to try this one.

A-Pours golden and hazy like a classic hefeweizen with a nice frothy white head.

S-Belgian yeast, some lemon and a bit of sweet honey. Some bready malt as well.

T-Brightly carbonated, lemony, with a biscuit maltiness and nice dry citrus finish.

M-Medium bodied, well carbonated.

O-Classic execution of the style. Very well done.

thank you Mnbearsfan for bring this one over. Poured from bottle into tulip. Mos def is a thick beer. Pours a nice 2 in head, with nice lacing the whole glass. Tried to look through it to no avail. Great looking beer, looks nice and cloudy, with a pale yellow tinge.
The taste is ver solid. Small hint of hop, but a great mixture of banana, clove, an d other spices. Great flavor.
This just became another beer to seek out from Lawson's. Will mos def hit up my regular traders for this beer again.

A - light golden cloudy hue as expected. Nice head forms when pouring into a pint glass.

S - I get a minty banana bubble gum nose from the top of the glass.

T - I'm not a big fan of this style however this is one of the better. Very light tasting with a spiciness in the background.

M - Nice carbonation and this is a great beer for any warm summer day.

Overall this is a very good hefeweizen style beer and if the only beer brewed was this style this would be my choice of all that I've had the pleasure of tasting.

Second bottle that I received from joshman after his trip to VT. This was rare batch #133 and bottle #65. Poured into Harpoon UFO hefe glasses. Hazy yellowish orange color. Nice sized white head with a lot of lacing. Little bit of sediment left at the bottom of the bottle. Smell had a definite aroma of cloves. Taste was very good. It had all of the characteristics of a well built hefe. There was a nice flavor of bananas and more cloves, with just a subtle hint of bubble gum. Mouthfeel was silky smooth and light. Drinkability was very high for me, as the abv was low and the flavor was high. I could have had a few of these in one sitting. One of the better American craft brewery versions of this style that I have had in a long time.

22oz bottle.

Pours pale gold with a murky cloudiness and a rocky white head of two inches. Plenty of lacing and a solid foam cap for the duration of the glass.

Aromatics lead off with traces of husky wheat, lemon, bannana, and clove. Some slight grassy earthiness as well. The bannana and clove is subdued for the style.

Medium bodied with a crisp, creamy mouthfeel. Pillowy and cleansing with a slight chew.

Light malt with wheat-dusted biscuits start the palate. A light lemony twang steps forward along with a spicy nod and yeasty phenols.

Finishes pretty quick and clean, with some mild prickles in the jowels from lemon zest.

Tasty and quaffable, but quite lacking in the bannana and clove area for my tastes.

22oz bomber poured into a .5L Weißbier glass.

Pours a very cool hazy golden wheat color that's cloudy and flat with a small fine creamy head. Nose is really nice, the banana isn't too in your face but its there.

Taste is very fresh and fruity with lots of yeastiness as to be expected. Its very tasty and drinkable.

Thanks to jctribe25 for this extra.

Poured into a pint glass.

Pours a huge pillow topped white head. Color is a very hazy dull yellow, slight bright orange. Good head retention and some nice lace.

Aroma: Big banana and clove aromas, but there is something else mixed in. It seems to be kind of skunky. Not something I expected from a hefe.

Taste: Not as much musky skunky flavor as I was getting in the aroma, but it is still there. Big clove flavor and big wheat flavor. Bananas and some spices.

Mouthfeel: Pretty crisp, slightly smooth. Light bodied with a very high amount of carbonation. Ends with a very sticky clove flavored aftertaste.

Overall, this bomber could never be drank alone. I will have trouble with half of it. It just doesn't seem to be very accurate to the style.

Bottle courtesy of youbrewidrink - thanks Joe!

Pale, slightly cloudy with one finger head that disappears to a nice lacing.

Banana and clove nose with some banana and strong pepper flavors. The pepper seemed a little overwhelming to me but I typically prefer more banana/citrus in my hefe's.

Carbonation level and mouthfeel were good, this was a very drinkable beer and awesome for hot summer days.

Poured a very hazy bright copper hue with a two finger foamy bone white head. There was very good retention and lacing.

The smell featured all of the aromatic yeast esters you would expect from a hefe. However, this beer had a distinct citrusy aroma as well.

The taste consisted of a spicy wheat malt, some complex fruity esters and a citrusy hop.

The mouthfeel was good and chewy.

Overall a very good rendition of the style. Again, hate the Sux, like the beer.
