22oz bottle into Duvel tulip. No bottled on info that I could find, but I bought it a week ago at the Warren Store, and Lawson's beer doesn't sit around on shelves for long.
Appearance: Free pour yields a 1.5 inch fluffy, bubble-popping white head that dissipates steadily. Pours an almost translucent orange and leaves tight lines of lacing.
Smell: Herbal, a little pine, some orange. Slightly smoky and marijuana-like. Grapefruit becomes a strong player with time and warmth.
Taste: Very bitter, with lots of dank, herbal hop flavor up front, cut through by a big toasted malt backbone. Pine aftertaste.
With some time, a little bit of bright fruity hop flavor comes out, though the dominant hop flavor profile is sort of "dark" herbal flavors highlighted by weed. Fair amount of orange, but less grapefruit than expected (comes out with time, but is never that large a player).
There's an insistent bitterness and toasted malt backbone that are just perfect (especially the latter) for the flavor of this brash hop. Really expertly designed beer.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. So smooth and creamy, it's almost like milk, but juicy and bitter enough for that not to be a remotely bad thing. Crisp, tingly dry finish.
Overall: Masterful, as expected from Lawson's. For my tastes, I could use some more sweet fruit and "brighter" flavors--similar to my complaint with Oskar Blues GUBNA. It's not objectively too bold, but I would appreciate some more delicacy and sweetness.
Even so, there's lots of hop flavor, great balance, and a real succulent quality that you only find in the best IPAs.

Ultra fresh bomber from the Mad River Valley, poured into a Lawson's snifter with a creamy one finger head atop a dense honey color ale that appears a glowing orange when held up to the light. Crazy lacing.
Aroma is hop forward, leaning towards the resiny pine territory complimented by some grapefruit rind and pith. There is an apparent malt bill to balance out the high alpha hops, and there are hints in the nose.
Taste is resinous, piney hops:good and bitter, with that grapefruit rind acidic tartness going strong. Those expecting the floral nose and fruity flavors of Sean's Double Sunshine are in for a change of pace with Chinooker'd, as this is a bitter, acidic IPA that makes no apologies for what it is. The high alpha hops utilized are for the hardcore hopheads that beg for that cruel acidic
punch in the face. Slight breadiness detectable, but not unexpected nor unpleasant.
Mouthfeel is slightly oily, chewy hops, balanced carbonation, and on the medium to heavy side. Slight alcohol warming in the throat but nothing aggressive.
Overall Chinooker'd delivers the goods for serious hop lovers in a straightforward manner:this is a bold acidic IPA that is a fastball down the middle of the plate and your palate: gonna be a home run or a swing and a miss depending on your tastes!

From notes, 1/28/11. Excellent IPA. The beer pours golden with a nice white head. Aroma is grapefruit, pineapple, pine and marijuana. It’s a much more nuanced hop aroma than expected from a single hop Chinook beer. Taste is medium bitter and mildly dry. Some light caramel malt presence, but it’s really about the hops. Light mouthfeel. Medium to medium-low carbonation. A very pleasant surprise.

Thanks to Phil for picking this one up for me. 22oz. bomber into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. Shared with schen9303. Pours a slowly cascading 1.5 finger frothy light cream colored head with good retention. Beer is a clear dark amber. Lacing is stringy, thick, layered with good cling. Excellent looking beer.
Nose is pine, citrus, tea leaves, and a sap hop bitterness. Moderately aromatic. Nice and very clean.
Opens tea leaves, citrus, pine, grass hop bitterness. Some papaya sweetness in the middle and cane sugar malt body towards the end. Finish is citrus and resin hop bitterness with a tea leaf hop bite in the aftertaste. Deliciously drinkable.
Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Lively and quenching in the mouth and smooth going down with a mellow finish and lingering aftertaste. Very solid for the style.
Very well done up and down, Chinooker'd is a great representation of the awesome IPAs floating around Vermont. Very balanced in the nose and taste and incredibly drinkable, this is an expertly crafted beer in its style.
