Berchtesgadener Hell vom fass. .5l in glass mug at the brewpub.
Crystal clear and sparkling with visible carbonation and a near white head that has moderate duration.
Fine malt and spicy hop aroma but rather faint and subtle.
More flavorful than nose indicates, and it becomes nicely hoppy and mildly bitter by the finish. A bit floral and herbal.
M: near medium body.
O: a fine example of this style, albeit with a weak nose and limited head.

.5L, Germany, best by April 2011.
Clear yellowy gold with a very nice eggshell head. Excellent lacing, decent retention.
Aroma has lots of grains, some cut grass, and an apple-like note.
The flavor is nice and simple. Lightly sweet and grainy up-front. Dry, snappy finish. Tangy hops, with a bitterness that builds on the palate as the drink continues. I get a slight bit of fruitiness, and something along the lines of apple juice, sort of like the aroma. The mouthfeel has a chalkiness to it, but is at least well-carbonated and fluffy on the tongue.
This is a very solid and clean Helles straight from the Alps. Prost!

Clean yellow color, with a beautiful very white, compact head.
Malt in the smell, but even som hop notes, quite fresh, herbal, cutted grass.
Not bad the taste, also. Well balaced between malt and hop.
A touch of malt in the aftertaste, but, again, well balanced by a fresh and grassy hop.

The basic bier in the Hofbrau-Berchtesgaden line-up.... Has a clear, golden color, with a small, white head. Head shrinks quickly and leaves a thin layer, with minimal lace. Nose has a hint of malt, but mostly mild, grassy hops. Body and tongue were both medium...no probs there.... Flavor starts with a touch of mild malt, but it's mostly hoppy, and somewhat bitter. Finishes on the dry end of the spectrum. A decent, basic bier, but there are better out there.
