I came here while working in Albany NY looking for some Heady Topper.

A: The place is a half beer shop/ half liquour store. The beers fill 7-8 coolers along one wall and several smalls aisles of craft beer.

Q: Having Heady topper automatically ups this places quality automatically. They had several other hard to find beers but nothing uber rare.

S: The counter guy was friendly but not much help when it came to answering brewery questions.

S: Having Heady topper automatically ups this places quality automatically. Unfortunately, that is the best they do for Vermont beers. They carry Maine Beer Co., Allagash, and several other smaller brewers that we dont see in Upstate NY.

Overall, a nice trip up from Albany for Heady Topper, Allagash, and Maine Beer...but thats about it.

This is a very good beer store for Vermont. What is even better is the guy in charge of the beer will do anything and everything to try and fill requests. Keep in mind people that VT gets hardly any allocation at all. Don't think you are going to find Black Albert or Cantillon just laying around. I also like that they have a very active Facebook page so you can be up to date with new arrivals. It is a little trek for me to get there but with the great prices and friendly atmosphere the trip is always worth it.

A couple of examples of selection Allagash, McNeils, Rock Art, Harpoon, De Glazen Toren, Ommegang, Smuttynose, DFH, Stone,...

I think that the selection here has improved in the last few years. I stop in once a year on ski trips to find some local brews. This time I couldn't get the Otter Creek RIS because some dude from CT bought it out...I would have left a few. ( it is available in CT). The selection is not huge by any means , but there were several Rock Arts and Otter Creeks, etc. I also found a bottle of DFH Theobroma....yeah, no shit....all by itself, looking lonely. Stone Vertical '08 was only $6 something a bottle so I picked up a few. Talked with one of the beer guys there and he was friendly.
I think that this is the place in Manchester for beer.

This is the only beer store I know of in this area and have been here several times. The beer is straight and to the left when you walk in, wine and liquor to the right. There is also lotto and cigarettes, etc. The beer selection is small but very solid. They carry a lot of local and regional beers, everything from Rock Art to some Shipyard. The 750 and Belgian selection was good. I was stoked to find Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner, which I cant get back in New York. I stocked up on a bunch of great local beers and the prices are very reasonable. It's definitely a must stop in you are in the area or passing through.

I live in the area so Manchester Discount is my local beer store. Just about a year ago, they started to carry craft beers beyond Long Trail, Otter Creek & Magic Hat. Their greatly expanded beer selection includes all the Vermont offerings like Rock Art, McNeils & Trout River. They also have a decent import selection from Belgium, Britain & Czech and Unibroue. They have a good domestic craft selection for what is distributed in the area: Dogfish, Brooklyn, Sierra Nevada, SAdams, Flying Dog, Allagash to name a few. They also have a nice seasonal, specialty bomber selection.
They did carry several bottles from Jolly Pumpkin for a while, but unfortunately they have disappeared from the shelves
