Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a duvel glass.

A: pours a remarkably clean looking amber witha finger if slightly tanned head, dissapates nicely and leavses some nice lacing.

S: wow, this smells delicious, tropical fruity hop deliciousness, mostly pinneapple, a nice light touch of pine a well... I don't know what exactly it is but I love the aroma of this beer. Nice and juicy... Like hop nectar

T: taste is nice with lightly floral/grassy hops on the front going into the pine and citrus on the finish... The finish is what mostly reminds me of the nose, lightly sweet citrusy hop juice... Nicley rounded

M: medium bodied and very drinkable, has medium creamy carbonation, and a lightly sweet citrusy finish to round it off.

O: this is a great ipa, I really like this one, particuarly the aroma... I can deffinatly see myself drinking these alot more regularly. Glad i tried it.

look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

A: foamy head, light carbonation, toasted brown color

S: piney hops, but hints of honey sweetness

T: piney hops, not overly bitter. Bitterness doesn't linger, gives way to honey sweetness aftertaste

M: light, dissipates quickly, no lasting bitterness, leaves honey sweetness on tongue

overall: very drinkable, easy going - the sweet aftertaste is the selling point of this beer. The hops are not too agressive but are very present, but the fact that it gives way in the mouth the lasting sweetness is unexpected for an IPA. Very drinkable.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. Almost white head on a clear, bright copper body. Clear, oily lacing sticks to the glass. Aroma is beautiful grass and pine. Taste is simply delicious. Nicely hopped, citrusy on tasting, nice malt sweetness for balance. No alcohol taste or smell. Rediculously good.

12oz bottle from Wegmans Syracuse NY for 2$

Appearance - Slightly hazy light copper colour with an above average size fizzy/frothy off-white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes.

Smell - Malts, hops, grapefruit, oranges

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste hops and malts mixed with caramel. There is also some pineapple mixed with oranges and grapefruit. It ends with a sweet and mildly hopped aftertaste.

Overall - Not that much different from a Union Jack in my opinion. I'd like to open the 2 side by side. My bottle was a little out of date but I can tell this is still a fantastic IPA. I'll try it again.

Bottle pour for the 4th Annual LA Beer Week Beer Festival at Union Station in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy khaki tan that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

This poured out as a really nice looking orange color, it looked clean and clear with a thin white film on top after the head settled. Not much retention or lacing here. The smell of the beer has a generous amount of hops on the nose as well as some sweet aromas of malt in there too. The taste of the beer starts off sweet with a touch of lemon in there followed by the bitter aftertaste. The mouthfeel was a bit thicker than i expected which I enjoyed. The beer felt slick and smooth yet drinkable. Overall I thought this was a pretty good IPA.

12oz, 5/31/12
Tulip

A: Filtered clear orange color. Half finger of off white head. Good carbonation streaming up the bottom of the glass. Not a lot of lacing initially.

S: Still getting some piney fruity hop character on the nose. Diminished with age, but there. Some orange marmalade. Then some maltiness. Leading to breadiness.

T: Nice sharp bitterness on the tip of the tongue. Fruity and piney hop flavor is still there nicely. Nose has died not the flavor. Getting some of that orange character that I smelled. Nice balancing malt presence, but still more West Coast hop forward for sure. Nice dry piney finish that lingers.

M: Medium bodied with nice mouth coat.

I have to say I was very impressed with the uniquness of this beer.
Appearance: Creamy head. Lots of carbonation.
Smell: Immediate hoppiness and fruitiness, as if it was infused with grapefruit.
Taste: Tastes like it smells. Pleasently hoppy and a very unique citrus presents especially grapefruit. Hops are definatly west coast.
This is a beer that I would definately try again and again.

Found at Yesterday’s Ale House in Newport, RI this IPA shows a clear golden amber color with a very healthy light tan head and tons of lacing. The aroma offers a scrumptious citrus toffee blend that seems near perfect. A subtle floral sweetness and bready malt. Just a well blended concoction that any hop lover will appreciate. The flavor comes on with more of the same, luscious citrus-pine hops and malt biscuit. There’s a touch of mild seaweed and sweet vegetable but those are nuances for the imagination, the hops dominate without challenging anyone. So perfectly fused and easy drinking. It’s medium bodied, pleasantly carbonated for a lightly lush feel. The usual “A” for a Firestone related product!

Warning: maybe this is an old bottle. No date I could find easily, but the hop profile seems diminished, and the malt profile just isn't impressive enough to make me think this was intentional. I'll plan another review down the line.

Very malt forward. Mild dark fruits forward, touch of ripe banana. Thin caramel, agave nectar flavors. Some extremely attenuated piney, hop resinous notes force through. Nothing citrus oriented. Meh, serviceable.

This IPA pours with a light copper amber hue with a white head on top. Fading quickly it leaves some spotty lacing. Very light carbonation.

Smells of hops and bready toasted malts.

Taste finds a solid malt base similar to the nose with a biscuit or toasted malts. Hops have a floral or citrus aspect but are on the light side.

On the palette it's medium with a grainy husky bitter aftertaste.

Overall a good solid brew.

A: This pour an orange tinted medium amber with excellent clarity. The off-white head of rocky bubbles is not persistent and settles to a thin film on top rather quickly.

S: A moderately-high citrus and piney hop aroma that smell kind of flat from age. A clean malt sweetness and a light orange and peach ester with a soft alcohol aroma. No diacetyl.

T: A malt sweetness with a touch of caramel dominate flavor slight over the moderately-high bitterness and strong piney and resinous hops flavors. The balance slightly favors the bitterness but the malt is more prominent than the typical American IPA. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering slight rough bitterness. Some soft alcohol sweetness is noted.

M: Moderate bodied with a moderate carbonation. There is a a light alcohol warmth and some hop derived astringency.

O: A pretty good example of the style, I think a younger bottle might have a more pronounced hop flavor and aroma but eve if it doesn't I'd still be happy to bump into this every once and a while.

S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, citrus, and pine hops with some sweet caramel and biscuit malts.

T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit and citrus hops with some bitterness and sweet caramel malts. Through the middle, some pine hops with more bitterness and some biscuit malts. The finish is a mix of grapefruit and pine hops with bitterness and sweet caramel and biscuit malts.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and bitter finish.

D - Very drinkable. Good hop profile and bitterness with good overall balance.

Pours a light amber color with a white head. Smells of caramel and toffee with a strong grapefruit hoppiness. Some peach and pineapple fruitiness, some orange, and a light tangerine. Just a hint of pine, too. The flavor is a touch on the sweet side with bread and toffee maltiness. Grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, and pine give a solid hop profile. Light bitterness on the finish.

A: Pours a clear golden copper in color with some light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall creamy white head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a thicker ring around the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of caramel malt sweetness upfront followed by moderate amounts of citrus/grapefruit, floral, and pine/resin hops.

T: Upfront this beer is quite sweet with a caramel malt body. After that, the hop flavors come along pretty strongly - citrus/grapefruit, floral, and pine/resin. There is a light to moderate amount of hop bitterness which lingers.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly oily, slightly sticky but smooth.

O: This is an enjoyable American IPA but is a little too sticky and a little too strong in ABV to be sessionable. Glad I had the opportunity to try this one since I saw the news this week about Firestone Walker divesting from Nectar.

Makes a one finger thick off white head, and has a clear copper colored body.

The aroma mainly comprises of floral and piny characteristics.

Taste wise it's pretty well balanced between the citrusy hops and toffee malt backbone.

Feels medium in body and dry to the palate; however, in the end the citrus qualities wet the palate.

Pours a deep caramel with a double thumbs width cream colored head. A deep caramel, bready aroma hangs alongside some orange. Flavor is a big dose of caramel malt providing some doughiness alongside some citric rind and fruit. Both the flavor and aroma are quite tame. A nice creamy, medium body to this. Overall, a decent brew that I'd try again, though probably not one I will be going out of my way to pick up.

Pours a nice mild golden color with a one finger head.

Aroma is crisp with grassy/ citrusy hops and a bit of a malt backbone

There's some hops upfront with just a bit of malt. Laid back. Nothing offensive.

Lingering citrus character. Not much else I couldn't ask for much better on a hot day.

An easygoing example of the style.

12oz bottle poured into tulip.

A - Hazy orange amber with a small white dense head.

S - Light citrus, grapefruit, and floral hops. A little grainy with hints of caramel malt.

T - Lightly hopped with lots of citrus and grapefruit flavor. Burnt caramel and bready malts provide a solid backbone. Has a short mildly bitter finish.

M - Medium bodied, smooth, a little sticky. Nice lively, prickly carbonation.

O - Decent IPA. Nothing really stands out, but it does have good flavor and drinkability. I wish it was a bit more hoppy.

12oz bottle purchased at Bottles in Millwood, WA, for $1.99. No obvious freshness date.

Poured a somewhat hazy golden amber color with a good-sized, creamy off-white head that took it’s time dropping. Lots of lace.

Very hoppy in the nose, with pine and grapefruit scents dominating.

This is one of those IPAs that have a big, citrusy flavor up front. While there are bitter hop flavors, the taste of this beer is very “fruit-forward” to borrow a wine term. There’s also a fairly discernable malt backbone to this.

Medium bodied, with a sticky, oily mouthfeel.

This is one of those semi-sweet, sticky IPAs that are tasty to drink but might be a bit much to have several of. I’m glad I bought a bottle but can’t see myself sessioning it.

A = best looking IPA I've seen. Beautiful clear copper with 3 finger super head. Excellent retention. For and American IPA, this is a perfect appearance.

Smell - Somewhat malty for an IPA and a nice combo of citrus and pine notes. Somewhat subdued.

Taste - Very nice IPA. Sweet flavorful and hoppy but very little bitterness in aftertaste. Very great.

Mouthfeel - Creamy and pleasant. Very buttery on the toungue.

Overall - Definitely one of the best American IPA's I've had to date. Its on the upper treshold of standard IPA without straying into Imperial/Double territory but its really a good one.

Had this beer a couple years back out of the bottle but found myself on the east coast for business trip and found it on draft there. (which is strange I know) Anyway I really missed this beer. A nice sweeter style IPA that is very drinkable.

Not a BIG NW style IPA with a huge nose but rather a softer, sweeter IPA with enough bitterness to balance things out. There were several other great beers on tap at this location but I found myself really enjoying this beer and it turned into my beer for the night.

12oz bottle I picked up for $1.69. Bright orange, very clear. Good sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is a little too subtle for me, slight hops, eh. A bit of orange in the flavor and then bitterness then some malt at the end. Overall this is a good IPA but nothing too crazy.

From a growler from Oliver's Beverage, poured into a tulip.

Dark golden, nice head forms. Some lacing too.

Aroma of pine and floral hops.

Flavor is mostly floral hops and a decent amount of orange/grapefruit notes. Not bitter. Light cracker-y malt backbone. Flavor is certainly hop-forward, but it's not exactly assertive.

Mouthfeel is medium and a bit creamy in the finish.

Overall this is a really easy-drinking, hop-forward beer--you could drink this all night. But it's not bold, by any means.

Served on-draught into a nonical half-pint glass at the Firestone Walker taproom in Paso Robles (on its second day of operation). Paired with a steak and fries. Expectations are average; I don't particularly care for Firestone Walker's beers. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a half finger head of nice cream, decent thickness, and fair retention. Colour is a clear copper.

Sm: Hops - floral more than bittering. A simple but pleasant moderate strength aroma.

T: Hoppy. Floral hops, spice, citrus hop notes, and clean bright malts. Balanced to a degree. Well built for the style, with no bitterness overall. Pleasant and enjoyable, with a tolerable hop burn.

Mf: Coarse and wet. Adequately carbonated. Suits the flavours alright, but certainly isn't tailored to them. A bit too thick. Entirely too coarse, reducing drinkability.

Dr: Drinkable for the style, but unremarkable. Nothing special here. Hides its ABV well. I like it, but it's far from great. Not at all unique or experimental.

Low B-
