2012 bottle poured into a snifter.
A: Pours jet black, very minimal head which is synonymous with the style. Very little head, thin dark khaki/brown head. Recedes quickly to the edge of the glass. Little Alcohol legs coming in as well.
S: Barrel smell, chocolate and coffee. Sweetness is prevalent.
T: Sweet chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Not much bitterness or hops and alcohol burn finish.
M: Medium to full bodied. Little carbonation and a burn finish. Chocolate coffee after taste.
O: Just outstanding a staple for BA Stout lovers.

650 mL bottle poured into a taster.
Appearance - Black with some red flecks. Small khaki head. Thin collar.
Smell - Really nice bourbon and dark chocolate. Lots of caramel behind it.
Taste - Nice bourbon notes. Chocolate, less dark and roasty. Lots of sweet caramel. Oaky. A bit astringent despite the sweetness.
Mouthfeel - Sweet and kinda boozy. Low carbonation.
Overall - Pretty good, but a lot of caramel. Too sweet.

Bottled 8/30/12. Pours a hazy dark brown with reddish tint, one finger of khaki colored head that settles to a thin ring with a few blobs of lace on the glass. Smell: toasted dark (molasses) bread, very ripe black plum, raisin, booze note, earth, earthy / medium roast coffee. Taste: bourbon eh? espresso, toasted black bread, dark chocolate covered dried cherry. This is tasty, still semi-boozy, and definitely worth the try.
