2011 cork and caged bottle. Served in a stemmed glass.
Pours a hazy darker orange body, one finger white head, short retention time, no lacing. Smells of apricot skin, lactic acid, mild funk, underripe stonefruit, a little bit of burnt rubber (in a good way, mind you). Flavour is a big sour lactic acidity with a lot of stonefruit presence; the distinctive apricot skin flexing its muscles as well. A bit of wheat and grain, moderate lactic acidity, really quite nice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, nicely carbonated, crisp and drying acidity with apricot skin on the finish. Enjoyed this one quite a bit, this is on the level of La Fosse rather than Fou Foune, as it has more of that AWA quality to it.

More or less flat at this point. A bit murky. Not a beautiful beer. The lack of carbonation leaves it feeling a bit heavy and slick. The heavy oak, buttery wine notes, and pleasant apricot flavors make up for it. Not jarringly sour, tons of barrel presence. With a bit of carbonation this could have been really incredible. Still, with years of age, pretty impressive.
