Draft offeribg from the source. The brew appears brown in color with a ruby hue through the body. A creamy tan cap sits atop with patchy lace sticking to the glass.
The smell is chocolate from the roasty grain inclusion. It has a freshness about the nose and a touch of herbal hops break things up.
The flavor starts out with a hint of herbal hops. Some chocolate grain and roast mildly like coffee come into play with some fruity alcohol esters and a bit of a mineral touch.
This is a medium to light bodies brew with modest to light level of carbonation. It is overall clean and easy drinking but a bit forgettable. Its a middle of the road offering that take it or leave it, I wouldnt need to try again.

Came to me a dark brown color with ruby highlights when reflected in the light.
Had a 1finger tan head that shows good lacing as it fades.
Aroma is malty with a sutle roasted aspect.
I could smell the hops in there, I,d say if anything, they were earthy in aroma.
Taste had a lightly roasted taste and a fair amount of earthy hops. Very light hints of coffee. Hops come throught towards the end.
A light medium brown ale with some hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
I liked this beer it's like DHF's India brown ales little brother.
Its hoppy with a nice roasted flavor.
I'd jack up the flavors though for the winter months.

Review from notes taken last night at the brewery/bar. Poured into the clean, clear glass.
A Basic partially translucent dark brown body but head retention is good, it sticks to the inside of the glass. 3.5
S Very little smell but repeated sniffs reveal the medium roast malt scents. 3.0
T Medium roast barley malt predominates but there is also an annoyingly high level of hops that is not to my liking. 2.0
M More thin than I would like. More thin than my favorite beers of this style. 2.0
D/O Fair since it lacks body and those annoying hops detract from the rather standard (and desired) medium roast malt flavors. 3.0
Notes: Pretty dissapointing, boring beer really.

This brown ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Not a whole lot in the aroma and taste, but that might have been since I was drinking it along side their other stronger beers as part of a sampler. Yeast was the only ingredient I could really sense, but I am very new at this.

A pint glass served at the brewpub.
A: The brown ale is a dark brown color, completely opaque with a hue that could pass for black. The brown ale carries a half a finger of head.
S: The dark malts add noticeable heft, chocolate and roasted malts. Beyond that though the ale is very light and approachable, lacking the nutty aromas that you may expect.
T: The ale starts off with a black pepper flavor, spicy with a bit of heat. Behind that, the darker malts add a brief flourish of roasted chocolate flavors before passing on to a fruity taste that can best be described as Belgian, as though a Belgian yeast strain made its way into my glass. A mild hoppiness runs through the milder portions of the ale. A conundrum in a glass.
M: The mouthfeel runs between dark roasts and light pale malts. In between, flavors are all over the place. An interesting beer that meanders.
D: Very drinkable with a low pricetag. My opinions on OBBS have been shaken up on this trip; they have their A game going.

A dark brown pull with a a smallish tan head atop that fades too quickly (too cold) and laces not nearly enough.
The smell and taste are both what is expected, some nice roast, light hoppiness, some clean yeasty-like notes...just a bit subdued...I am looking for something that is a bit more flavorful.
The mouthfeel is smooth and crisp, but I would like a slightly bigger body in a brown ale. The drinkability is slightly higher, probably because of these complaints.

On tap while on vacation in the OBX. pours a dark cola brown with an off-white head. The smell is toasted malts with a slight hint of citrus hops. The taste is your average run of the mill brown ale with toasted malt but there is a slight bit of hops that is a bit more than the average brown ale. Mouthfeel is slightly watery and not as creamy as I had hoped. Drinkability is lowered because of the mouthfeel compared to their other beers. Definitely one to try while you are there.
