The Outer Banks brewed this Dunkelweizen this past December, and I'm not totally sure if it's only intended as a winter seasonal or not. Spring seasonals are beginning to make their appearances, so the fact that this is still around might mean that they plan on continuing to brew it through the next months as well.
Appearance: Opaque dark copper hue with some sediment, under a one finger off-white head.
Smell: Spiciness up front, with some biscuity yeast.
Taste: Again, the spiciness hits first, then opens up to a bready, biscuity sweetness from the malt and yeast. The hops is rather subtle, allowing the malt to comprise the biggest part of the finish.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, though with a medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Good winter selection. The malt is filling and it's well-spiced. The ocean breeze will keep things chilly in the Outer Banks at night for a while, so there should be plenty of time to get up there and enjoy it.
