so, after hearing about this place for years, finally got a chance to go...

and man am i upset i haven't made an attempt to go years earlier. FANTASTIC pizza. decent, yet small selection of craft brews on tap, but overall well worth the trip downtown.

bonus, if you go on mondays, 1/2 price pizzas!

This place is by far one of the bars/taverns in Dayton. They always have some amazing beers on tap including delicious IPA's. The Reuben pizza is the best I have ever had. If you live anywhere close around Dayton and haven't been to South Park then you are missing out.

South Park Tavern (SPT) is a must-visit if you're in Dayton. It's a small bar/restaurant that has a small stage for bands inside and a small patio outside. (Yes, it's small, meaning if you don't get there early on a Friday or Saturday, you probably won't get a seat. You can usually tell by how packed the small parking lot is.)

If you do get in though, be ready for some delicious food and drink! The specialty pizzas are where it's at - they are made by Pizza Factory (which you should order and pick up just down the road if you can't get a table). My personal fav is the Chicken Cordon Bleu pizza, it's seriously the most delicious thing on earth. And the foccacia is great too. They have an awesome 18-tap wall that is a wooden cutout of a guitar! The beer selection is great, usually about half the taps are IPAs (Mojo Risin, Maharaja, something from Founders or Bells) then there's a good variety of other choices.

The wait staff are all nice and pretty knowledgable about the beers, and you can always ask for a sample or two. Beer prices are comparable to most other places that serve craft beer, about $6 a pint. There's always a mixed crowd there; some families for dinner when it's early, people coming in for a beer when they just got off work, craft beer enthusiasts cozying up to the bar, friends hanging out enjoying food and drinks and listening to the bands.

Overall, one of my all time favorite places to go. Never disappoints!

I heard about this place a few years ago i had to check it out! It was great to see the wide selection of delicious craft beers...i like to go at least once a week, and i usually check their beer list online to see whats on tap... One of my favorite places to drink an IPA and have some pizza! Their selection of beer is one of the best in Dayton. Cant really go wrong with pizza, craft beer, and music. Sometimes it gets a little crowded but everyone is friendly, and the patio is great when the weather is nice.

Stopped in around 4:15 on a Thursday evening with a co worker for a pint or two and some chow. Cozy interior with one of those old hockey foosball type games with the big plastic dome.

Sat kinda close to the bar so I could read the beer menu on the chalkboard.

A nice selection of beers on tap. I went with a black IPA and Belgian IPA from North Peak Brewing out of Michigan.

No taster flights available but the friendly server was more than willing to provide me tastes. In the end, she gave me a generous ~3 oz taster of the Flying Dog Coffee Imperial IPA.

I had a greek pizza and my buddy had fried appetizers which he really enjoyed.

Nice place that could probably get really crowded when busy.

Great beer selection and good pizza. knowledgeable and friendly staff. Several tvs and a projector for sports. Outdoor patio with fire pit.

Continuously updating the taps with unique craft beers. Website and Facebook are regularly updated with current tap list. Beer does go in a hurry most often so if there is something specific that you want to have, make sure you get there the night that it is tapped or you might miss out.

Overall a great place that I go to frequently with friends for good beer and great conversations.

This is by far the best bar in Dayton, If you sit at the bar. Every time I go here it seems like eternity to get another beer. Now that I've expressed my only complaint... how about why its so good. Every Monday is half off large, and extra-large pizza's. The pizza is some of the best in Dayton. They have some very different pizza's you won't find most places. Gyro pizza, gordon blu pizza, and the seafood pizza just to name a few. The quality and taste of this pizza is well worth full price, getting at half price just let's me get more of the amazing beers they have on draft. The draft board is always changing to. I go at least once a week and have not seen the same list of beers twice. Definitely worth the trip from cinci or c-bus.

This is one of the few good places in the Dayton area to go. About the only other place is The King's Table on Grange Hall. The food is excellent and the prices aren't bad, especially in the case of the pizza. The selection is pretty decent especially for the fact that its one of two places in all of Dayton to get a good beer at a reasonable price, it's a good deal. Also, they sometimes have special tapings, so if you can get in there for that the selection is a different story. The atmosphere is better than most places and the staff is friendly and you can get great service.

Visited this place because I saw that the particular day I was traveling in Dayton, they were tapping a keg of Founders KBS. Just went for the 1 beer. The bar was pretty small, but seemed like a good local spot. Service was good. Obviously, the beer was exceptional. They seem to have a very solid selection of quality beers. Pretty cool music selection playing. They had a really nice set of turntables playing records. Wish i could have tried some of the food, but had already eaten when I went.

I would definitely check this place out again on a trip to the area.

Easily my favorite place to grab a pint in town. Plenty of rotating taps, excellent food - the pizza is great, but they make a mean sammich! They've got a great patio if you don't want to deal with the band that might be playing inside. The room is a little small, but that's the nature of your friendly neighborhood bar. You can usually find quite a few interesting characters hanging out, and plenty of beer geeks to chat with.

Pro tip: Mondays are buy one get one free pizza. And their pizza means business.

In short - go to South Park Tavern.
