This is a store that I visit when I'm trying to find something limited because I know that they're going to get some of even the hardest to find beers. I was too late for CBS, but the staff helped me out during the early Surly Five rush.
I've heard that the store hosts tastings, and although I've yet to attend, I appreciate stores that do this. Not only does it expose people to new/different breweries or styles but it let's customers try beers that they'd be afraid to buy a bomber or sixer of.
Cellars' mix-and-match is nice, because it includes all sizes of bottles and gives a 10% discount off of each.

This is a store I won't hesitate to visit whenever I find myself nearby.

I have stopped into Cellars a few times when looking for something limited that was sold out at my usual store. They are a general liquor store with a nice beer section that carries both domestic and import brews. The price is on-par with most stores in the area.

Where they lack compared to the more beer-focused stores is service. The past three times I have been there, no one has said a single word to me other than at the checkout. This has caused me to leave the additional beer I would have otherwise purchased on the shelf. I would understand if it was for lack of staff in the store, but there were always people stocking shelves in the area I was searching. Maybe they were just trying to be courteous and let me do my searching in peace, but a simple "Can I help you find anything?" goes a long way.

EDIT: I have been there a couple times since my review and the service has been much better. I started conversations with the employees in the beer section and had some good discussions with them. The selection has also gotten better (which probably has more to do with the day I was in there than anything else).

Overall, this is a good store to find beer. I have learned to leave it at that. I hope that some future visit amounts to more, but past experience has not given me much hope on that.

This is the closest good beer store to me. They always have the latest Surly's and Summits. Great selection of Belgians. Their singles collection is superb. They seem to carry every us craft beer that is currently brought into Minnesota. Prices seem inline with everyone else. My only complaint is that they close at 8pm on Monday-Thursday. They do open at 9am though. I could pick up something before work. In general I know what I'm looking for or just browsing. The couple times that I ask for suggestions turned out great. Got two beers I never should have picked otherwise. Overall at great place to purchase brews.

Cellars-Roseville is a good place to get good beer. The selection varies a bit from week to week but is very good in general. It has as good as selection as one can get in the Twin Cities.

They discount beer after a case so I have never bought less than a case. You can find Founders, Tyrannena, Avery, Victory, Surly, etc without a problem as well as many others. Lots of big bottles also if that is what you want.

Like I said, as good as it gets in the Twin Cities, worth the trip so long as you don't hit it during a wine sale when it is crowded.

I don't live to far from Roseville, but this is still not my "local" liquor store. I have never been there until last week, when I decided to give it a shot while I was in the area. I've heard great things about the selection so I figured it wouldn't hurt.

I love the selection at this place. An entire isle devoted to beer. Rows and rows of singles, bombers and sixers. The mix six is pretty limited, but the staff is more than willing to help you out if you want to find something that isn't on the shelf. Two cooler sections, one with your typical macro's, and another with singles, bombers and 750 ml's.

I can't say much about the service, but mine was pretty good. I had a quick question about something and he answered it correctly and promptly. I also liked the "(Insert name here)'s Choice" as in that particular staff members favorite beer.

Price was very reasonable, I found many good deals on my first trip there.

What I also liked is that it had many brews that Surdyk's and Zipp's don't currently have. I found Black Albert, Expedition Stout, and a few others, which I couldn't find at Surdyk's or Zipp's (at the time).

Overall a great place to shop for beer. I'll have to make a return trip sometime.

this liq. store is great. not the cheapest in the cities but very nice and reliable. the staff is helpful and. knowledgeable. i have ordered kegs for my keggerator here and am always assured that mark can get most of his craft brew kegs at a good price in as long as he gets a week notice. very good communication with custom orders and super friendly. if you live in roseville or surrounding area give it a try. this can be a one stop shop for all your liquor needs because they also have an excellent supply of wine and always have some to sample!!

This is my go-to place, probably the best beer store in the northernish suburbs (at least the best one that I know of).

Selection is pretty good, one full aisle of beer and about half of that is in singles. Rows and rows of bombers. And then there is the cooler section with even more beer.

Plenty of the big names are here, just about all Bells, Rogue, Flying Dog, 2 Brothers, and Unibrowe.

Service isn't bad. They are friendly, and a few people are knowledgeable. I don't know if this would be the ideal spot for someone just getting into beer (they may feel a little overwhelmed, the Four Firkins might be a better place). But if you know what you want or what you like this is the place.

This was the best beer store I have visited on my trip to Minneapolis, mind you, I did not have the time to see them all which will have to wait my next trip.
It has a good selection of locals and imports, and happily for me, none of them refrigerated which I believe is better for the long term "health" of your brew. I packed a couple of boxes of interesting finds, mostly belgians and americans, but also some germans and british.
Service is overall good, courteous and polite, although they did box my wheat beers upside down.
Not perfect, a few things lacking, but all in all well worth your time. Will likely return on my next trip to Minneapolis.

Hadn’t been in a Cellar’s before, but this is close to a friend’s house so I thought I would give it a try.

Located in a strip mall, it’s a smaller store with mostly wine, and very little booze to speak of. The beer selection, however, is very impressive. In the very back of the store, there is a cooler devoted to singles of all varieties. In addition, there are two complete rows of craft beer, both US domestic and from overseas. Lots of Rogues, Victory, and Bell’s and lots of the Belgian favorites, too, most of which can be found on the BA top 100 list. Also, they have several variety 12 packs from some of the wider available craft brewer (Sam Adams, Goose Island, Schells, Summitt, etc). A great option to try new beers from the same brewer. They even had a Unibroue sampler pack. A great mix and match option on creating your own six pack as well. If you do this, you get 10% off.

Prices are reasonable and the service is very good. The gentleman I spoke with was genuinely excited to be talking about good beer and made several suggestions.

I will make it a point to stop by when I can. Great selection and service.

Cellars Wines and Spirits has one of the better beer selections of any store I have been to in Minnesota. The more beer friendly liqour stores I visit in Minnesota the more I realize that only a limited number of craft breweries distribute here allowing most good beers stores to carry every American craft beer brought into the state. Thus, what seperates a good selection from a great selection is the number and quality of imports a place carries. Cellars seems to carry as much craft beer as Blue Max or anywhere else in the state. There import selection is perplexing though as there are plenty of German, British, and Eastern European beers, but only a hand full of Belgains. Quality seems to be good and as didn't see anything dated past its prime. Service was somewhat lacking considering I was that at around noon on a Friday and business was slow, and nobody said a thing to me until I when to check out. This isn't my favorite store in the Twin Cities, but it is pretty good, and if I was in the area I would certainly stop in again.
