More of a wine & cooking place, there is a better than average beer department here. Located right on the corner of W. Ponce & Commerce next to Crescent Moon in Downtown Decatur.
Warner, formerly of Green's, is the beer guy here and is very helpful.
The beer is located on the back wall, and is mostly 'room temp'. There is a cooler, housing just a few six-packs and bombers. Besides local domestic crafties Sweetwater & Terrapin, I have seen Lagunitas, Allagash, Dogfish, Victory, Lakefront, Oskar Blues. Good bit of Belgians including Chimay Blue (1.5L), St. Bernardus, Scaldis, Rochefort.

Stopped by here after a visit to the Brick Store.
As others have noted it's not a typical beer store. The beer is to the back of the store and to the right.
Quality is good. The beer is well-insulated from daylight and the beer I picked up was fresh.
Service was surprisingly good. I had a few people ask if I needed help then the guy at the counter (apparently the beer guy) chatted me up about my purchases and told me about some incoming bottles and mini-kegs. Really nice people and the guy knew his stuff.
Selection is not wide but rather deep, and I apologize for my attempt at philosophy. A nicely picked bottle selection with a good deal of standards - SN, DFH, ABC, and a myriad of other acronyms - along with a surprising amount of Belgians including most Trappists and others that don't normally garner a lot of attention. They also have Spiegelau glassware for those who are fans.
Value is good. Some beers I noticed were priced a bit cheaper than I'd seen elsewhere and some were a bit more expensive.
Overall this is not a bad stop at all if you're walking around Decatur and can't make it to Green's, Tower, or Hop City.

I have taken three cooking classes here at this location..hey you have to have something to go with the beer on occasion! I have bought beer nearly every time I have been in this store. As the other reviewers have stated, it's a cook supply store first, a wine merchant second, and then it has a small but well picked beer selection. What I like about the beer selection is the occasional gems. I have found beers in this shop that I have never seen in Greens or other well know beers stores (large sized Scaldis and Chimay, French beers, and the occasional unusual domestic). I have even purchased beer glassware from here.

The other two reviewers have adequetely described the odd nature of this store- kitchen ware first, then wine followed by beer in order of importance here. The wine selection is not massive but is very well chosen. If the beer seelection was as big as the wine selection, however, this would be a beer destination. As it stands, the smell but well chosen selection is a place to check before or after visting the Brick Store just a short walk up the street, or if you want to see if this place still has a beer in stock that others have sold out of. There is a beer guy here and he's pretty knowledgeable- he just doesn't have a lot to work with. I stop by ocassionally to see what they have.

Cook's/Sherlock's is a kitchen supply store and wine merchant that has a small selection of beer, which are typically either European or craft beers.
The size of the selection is small but the depth or range of the selection within broad beer styles is decent.
The cost of the beer selection is also reasonable for its location in downtown Decatur.
As for the service, it is hit or miss, depending upon the available employees. I have talked to some very knowledgeable people there and also talked to some that were quite the opposite.
