Stopped in for a couple during happy hour on a Tuesday night. During this time (4-7 pm) Abbey brewed beers are $4.50 (instead of $6.50-$7.50). I had two of the Abbey Immaculate IPA. It was pretty good. Not very hoppy or bitter for an IPA, but it was very drinkable and had some nice flavors of citrus and pine. The wife had a rasberry lambic. The bartender was very nice and accommodating. The place was laid back and has a comfortable seats up front near the entrance. By the bar it was pretty smoky inside. I will definitely stop in the next time I'm in this area, maybe to shoot some darts and try some of their other beers.

We're visiting South Florida and this was our last night. My older sister was insistent about finding The Abbey, but as we circled 16th St at night time, we couldn't find the place. Finally, we younger sister insisted we try the place that only had the sign "BAR" lit.
Their Double IPA / Barley Wine Cask offering was Green Flash Brewing's Imperial IPA, which my wife and son enjoyed immensely.
The House brews Brother Aaron's Quad and Russian Imperial Stout were enjoyed by my older sister, while I had Brother Don's Double and the Quad. All tastings were true to style and delicious. The Double was my personal favorite.
The place is relaxed, not overly large, the staff is friendly and outgoing. The boss-man, Ray, stopped by to chat with us, discussing his brews and some of the drivers behind his recipes. Hey Ray, we'll be getting back to you about that t-shirt for my sis!
I wish I got there for Happy Hour as the House beers drop to $4.50 and they are well worth it. If I'm ever back in this area, I am returning, happily.

An old-style bar serving craft beer in the middle of Miami Beach.
Loud, slightly smoky, small but comfortable.
Attentive and friendly staff working hard.
Music is thumping some serious rock and malt, I could here it across the street easily though the door was open. Dark inside with just a handful of dim lights and two bog flat screens working with a couple or ceiling fan lights to try to illuminate the place.
I liked the place but after one beer I had to beat feet due to the oncoming headache from the smoke and overall volume of conversation and music. I'll try earlier next time.
The brew selection is not numerous but it is well thought out.

I was introduced to the world of microbrews by this place in 1996, since then I've never gone back to mass produced beers. The Abbey is a local's pub, unadulterated by South Beach's hype, it has all the local charm and ambiance that you can expect from a hole-on-the-wall pub but an amazing selection of brews. Owner Ray and bartender Dave at the bar have been the team to make this place the kind where everyone knows your name and once you visit you will find their beer selection to be equally unforgettable. No hype, no shiny lights, no hot servers, just great people and beer. Try Brother Aaron's Quadrupel, extremely flavourish belgian-style quad.

We checked this place this past week when we were in town for the Sox/Marlins series. We stopped next door at the Yardbird to eat some food since food was not offered here.
Atmosphere: Pretty dark inside. Shades were down to keep the bright Miami light out, but the lights were dimmed low too. Park benches and table to the left and small bar to the right. Traditional brewery signs thorughout the bar.
Quality: Even though the beer is made in Melbourne, FL for now, the quality was still there and they had some nie guest taps to offer as well. The stout, quad, and IPA was enjoyed by all of us.
Service: It was daytime, so service was good and we got the chance to speak with the owner/brewmaster.
Selection: Draft selection limited us to 10-12 choices, but they also had a decent bottle selection to choose from too.
We went there during happy hour and got a good discount on the normal price of the beer. Too bad they don't offer food, but the restaurant next door had a nice southern fare to choose from. Next time in Miami, we will hit this place up once again.

Fresh off the plane from NC, my wife and I headed for South Beach for a bit of lunch and some good beer. The former was easy to find, the latter much harder. I had this place as my first place to visit and lucky enough, we pull up and there is a parking spot right in front. What luck! The place is quite small and rather dark inside. The selection was pretty impressive. I had the IPA and it was pretty tasty. I was hoping we could have food here but unfortunately, they didnt have food. I think the bartender said they could have food delivered, but I wasnt really interested in off-site food. This is probably one of the only places in the South Beach area to find some decent beer. Lincoln Street ped-mall is right around the corner and some great food spots are there.

So right away I have to say the service is great. I met the brewer while there who enjoyed a beer with me and discussed his technique and preferred styles. The location is in busy southbeach, Miami just a short walk from where you can leave your wife alone for a few hours if you trust her with your credit card. Its kind of a hole-in-the-wall type place as the brewing is done off-site however the friendly staff and beer quality make up for it. The selection was somewhat limited however multiple styles are available. The Russian imperial stout was definitely my favorite with the IPA being excellent as well.

Finally made it to Abbey after numerous trips to South Florida. I am glad I did. I stopped in around 5PM, it was sunny outside, but almost pitch black inside.
Small bar, not many patrons when I stopped in. Not sure how crowded it could even get given its small size. I opted for a house IPA, which was very good. I chatted with the barkeep, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Place smelled like stale smoke, even though nobody was smoking while I was there.
Cool place with a friendly neighborhood feel. Nice change of pace from the rest of the area.

Stopped in here with my girlfriend on a recent trip to Miami Beach. The place was a little smoky, dark, and air conditioned. Other than the smoke, it was a nice place to visit.
The bartender was amazing. He was super friendly and knowledgeable.
The selection was pretty good. We tried the two house brews (Immaculate IPA and Father Theodore Stout). Other than that, they had a couple of guest beers and two seasonals (one was an IPA/barleywine and the other was a cask).
Didn't try the food, but they only had snacks. Popcorn, white castle burgers, and other things. Nothing I wanted to try at the time.
I would recommend stopping in here if you are in the area.

I recently tagged along on conference my wife was attending in South Beach. I planed a little fishing and relaxing but soon found myself desperate for a good beer. This is no easy task in South Beach. So I jumped on the Advocate and hunted up the local watering holes. It steered me right to the Abbey.
The Abbey is a truly great bar with one of the finest selections I've had the pleasure to sample. On top a fantastic quad of their own design they have a great selection craft brews from around the world which I worked thru on 4 separate visits while in town! Ray, Dave and Carlos all were excellent tenders and guided me thru the choices. If you're in SOBE this is a must visit.
Heads up though, its hidden in the middle of a few unoccupied storefronts and can be hard to notice. It makes it all the better when you go in. Enjoy!
