This was a worthwhile stop for me on my day trip to Myrtle Beach. They have a nice collection of craft brew - The Bruery, Eel River, Hoppin' Frog, Bells, Stone, Dogfish Head, Weyerbacher, Victory, Smuttynose, plus plenty of local craft offerings. I saw their tap/growler setup but did not attempt to get any. Unlike earlier reviews they did not have 3 local options. I saw Maharaja, Coney Island Lager, Arrogant Bastard and a 4th that slips my mind. (All four are stuff I've had before.) One negative is the lack of single 12oz beers or a mixer sixer. The prices were on point with what I am used to for these beers. A good place to find some beer in Myrtle Beach.

Fantastic selection, would not have thought I would find anything near this good at the SC beach. Just about any Belgian you would want (including the whole Ommegang family), a huge assortment of microbrews and of course all of the usual Coors/Molson, AB/InBev stuff.

This is the best selection in town hands down. Mike does a great job of getting quality beer into Myrtle Beach. Don't go anywhere else....you'll find it here!!! And oh, don't forget to check out the growler selections. Have you EVER been to a Piggily Wiggily and come out with a growler of quality brew? Thanks Mike, for all your hard work!!!

Byrd's Beer at the Pig: The best place in Myrtle Beach to find quality beer and craft brews. They have an excellent selection and a nice variety. They have the beer you won't find anywhere else in town. Typical six-packs and four-packs, as well as individual bottles and even a Growler Station.

Assistance is readily available, if needed, but these guys will let you browse without breathing down your neck. And honestly, with the variety they have, you're going to need time to look.

Excellent layout and appearance - the theme of the beer section blends in with the upscale look of this particular grocery store.

Piggy Wiggly is the place to be in Myrtle Beach

Atmosphere is that of a fancy, upscale grocery store. The beer is located in the back corner and 90% of it is in coolers. Floor plan is open and easy to navigate. The area is well maintained and up to date.

As for service, I did have one employee come by and ask if we needed any help locating anything. I also had no problem finding someone to pour a growler for me as well.

Selection was pretty impressive. I walked out with Founders Backwoods Bastard, an Ommegang gift pack, some Victory, Great Divide Yeti, a Bells Double Cream Stout growler, among other things. Most beers are 6pack only except for the bombers. They do have about 30-40 in the build your own 6pack shelf.

Overall they will definitely have something for everyone. If your in Myrtle, make this your first stop.

Very respectable selection and love that they have a growler fill station. They probably do have 600+ beers (as a number of people have said), though some of them are the standard grocery store crap that you wouldn't have at many good beer stores (how many flavors of Smirnoff Ice really need to be made?). Regardless, they have a good selection, especially for a grocery store. COAST Boy King was the highlight of the trip, evidently they were near the end of the keg and had only had it in 3 days.

I stayed about 45 minutes North of Myrtle and we did a day trip down to see some sights.

I stopped at the Pig and was very impressed. The selection is far above any other store I checked while in the Myrtle area. Plenty of stuff I can't get in St. Louis as well as many many things I saw no where else in Myrtle.

I didn't go for any big IPA's so freshness was not much of a concern for me and I didn't check any to see if the freshness rumors were true.

Michael, the manager, has really stepped up the game for any grocery store anywhere in the country. I didn't get a growler but I apparently had just missed Boy King.

I bought Bruery, Terrapin, DFH, Oskar Blues, Westbrook, Brooklyn. I even traded a bottle with Michael while i was there. A great experience and I plan to make it a stop anytime I'm in the area.

I docked half a point each for atmosphere, I had to walk past veggies and paper towels to get to the beer, and selection, I hate to say it but it could be bigger(who needs bottled water). Outstanding regardless.

I was on a week long vacation last week and decided to stop by based on the reviews.

I was not dissapointed by their beer selection by any means. The sign at the top of their beer selection listed 701 different beers on stock and I was thoroughly impressed. This was a grocery store that rivals some of the high-end beer and liqour stores in my area (Party Source, Jungle Jims) for beers per alloted section.
They get bonus points in my book because they had 2, 4 packs of Founders Breakfast Stout for sale (yet no other Founders). This did however lead me to wonder what the dates were on some of their other beers.

Best place to shop for anyone in Myrtle Beach

We were in town on vacation a few weeks ago and went right to this location based on the BA reviews, we had to stock up on beer for our rather quick vacation.

The selection, for a grocery store, is quite impressive. If anyone is from the Mid-Atlantic area, the beer stock and atmosphere rivals that of the Wegman's stores in our area. Well organized, and a nice selection of many different styles. I was with my son at the time with the rest of the family outside waiting in the parking lot so I had to do a very quick sweep of the beer section. Had I more time, I would have recorded a list of the more impressive things they had to offer. What I ended up purchasing was a bomber of: Moylan's Nor-Cal IPA, Moylan's Moylander Double IPA, Moylan's Hopsickle (Yes, we're big fans of Moylan's!), and a sixer of Ballast Point Big Eye IPA. They also had stock from Victory, DFH, Rogue, Hoppin' Frog (I was surprised that one.), and some other impressive items that I can't honestly remember right now, but just know, there were alot of good selections available.

In terms of quality, EVERY one of the IPA's purchased were total malt bombs which was very disappointing. Of the bombers purchased, the Hopsickle and Nor*Cal ended up being drain pours (at $10 each), and I nursed the bottle of Moylander because I couldn't stand to see another $10 go over the rail. The Ballast Point was the same, but we managed to get three of those down and ended up bringing three home which are still sitting in my fridge and probably will continue to do so. We went back for some Sierra Nevada Torpedo instead which was much, much better. Nothing wrong with Torpedo, it's just easy to get back in PA with Moylan's being a little tougher to come by, that's all. In their defense, transporting beer from one coast to the other, especially respectable West Coast IPA's like these, there's several obstacles and elements to overcome along the way, the biggest one being just plain "time".

I'm sure most of their other beers were fine, but if you're a hop head looking for a nice fresh, IPA, don't get too excited, get something else instead. If we ever go back, I'll purchase other styles instead that I know will keep better.
