This is literally the only option for serious beer drinkers in Princeton – and this wasn't the case three years ago. It's not that they have everything – they don't, not even standard six-packs – but if you want something interesting in a bomber or a four-pack it's the only place you can get to without a car.
One small issue (and this is pretty common across places like this) is a lack of pricing on bottles/rows themselves, so you can get hosed at the register if you don't ask in advance. Other than that, its prices on standard items are the best in town and then they add onto that a continuing and expanding emphasis on craft and unusual beers that makes them the only shop in town.

I just wanted to leave a quick review to say that this place has completely revamped its craft beer selection. They now have the largest selection of the three or four liquor stores near Princeton's campus. It is an excellent selection, including such notables as great divide, russian river, and founders (none of which have I seen in a small shop on the east coast before). prices are what you'd expect, a bit on the high end of OK. Service is nothing special, they are actually very enthusiastic ("that's a great beer!") but don't really seem to know very much.
UPDATE: Community has continued to add more beers, and now their collection is really impressive for such a small store in such a drab town. They have many Mikkeller's, Victory bombers, multiple Dieu du Ciel's, World Wide stouts in the cold section! and much more...

Community Liquors.
Located on Witherspoon just off Nassau Street, Community Liquors has an inviting exterior, decked with bottles of patron and aesthetically pleasing displays. Unfortunately, the interior is nothing to write home about.
But we're really interested in the beer right? Well I wouldn't go here for craft stuff. They have a decent selection of Samuel Smith (Old Taddy, Oatmeal Stout, Nut Brown etc.), some standard Dogfish Head (90, 60, Indian Brown ale), and occasionally something from Ommegang (most likely Abbey Ale). They also stock all three varieties of Chimay.
Frankly though this is a "good enough" effort that barely cuts it for me. Walk about three blocks down Nassau Street and you'll hit Varsity Liquors, which has a much better selection. Better yet, visit either Joe Canal's or Wegmans about 10 minutes north on Route 1 for a really massive selection that blows both places out of the water.
There's always only one guy around. He's nice enough, but not really all that helpful or knowledgeable about beer. I come to the counter and say something like, "I'm looking forward to this Chimay," and he responds with an amicable "yeah that looks good, haven't tried it yet". Really?!? It's like one of the 10 good beers you stock and you haven't tried it. Whatever though.
Long story short, shop elsewhere for beer for the time being.

This is not the place to go for anything craft. they have most of their stuff on ice, and in sixers. they are much more concentrated on their wine and liqour selection. they have the run of the mill selection of beers: macros, guinness, boddingtons, and some stone I think. the good thing about it is that is it right in the center of town, and they are well priced. they are mainly catering to the byob crowd, not to the beer connoisseur. however, they do sell lotto tickets, so I guess that would be something to spice up the visit. always have a guy behind the counter, but have never been asked on whether I need help; with that selection, who would need help.
