Humpy's is a pretty good place to get a beer. It is a regular stop for locals. The selection is fantastic. They have a bunch of taps (not sure exactly how many) and a bunch of bottled selections. The atmosphere is good but the place will get really crowded on the weekend. I gave the food an average because I've only eaten there once and I had the nachos. Pretty good. The prices are reasonable but may seem pricy to newcomers, just remember it's Alaska and everything is more expensive. Overall, Humpy's is a great place to hang out, get some good beers, and let off a little steam. I would recommend it to anyone.

Humpy's is probably the most famous bar in anchorage aside from chilkoot charlies which is a conglomerate cheesy sausage fest with hos from wall to wall. Humpys offers a fantastic beer selection of all local breweries and lots of belgian selections as well. The food could be alot better. and alot of times the servers are undereducated beer wise. Last time i was there my gouden classic had ice chunks in the top of it it was served so cold. But the beer selection is fantastic. It can be extremely crowded on the weekends. Parking is semi tough too, as it is right in the middle of downtown anchorage. If it gets too crowded there is a decent irish pub and restaurant right behind it with murphy's on tap which is unique to that bar in alaska, but im not reviewing mcginleys. humpys is a staple and anyone visiting anchorage should stop by if craving a belgian.

A great Friday/Saturday night stop. or use this place (or McGinillys around the corner) as the starting point for the downtown Anchor-Town pub crawl. i love the lighting here, dim, diveish, but it is far from a dive bar, with what they boast is the best tap selection in the pacific northwest, you can get wasted with no two pints being the same, and still have miles to go on the beer list. the staff is friendly espically when considering the crowd size they deal with. I've never been there when a band wasn't playing, and they are typically pretty good. all in all a damn good watering hole

Humpys is one of the better places in anchorage to get a bite to eat, and more importantly a beer to drink. Easy to get to as it is in the heart of downtown anchorage, humpys offers good food at reasonable prices considering its location. The summertime seafood selction is ofcourse great, as it is in most places in anchorage. what makes humpys stand out is its great beer selection. they have more beers ontap than you can shake a stick it at. As well as having a broad range of patrons that make coming here an enjoyable experience

I managed to make it in to Humpy's several times while I was in Alaska. Fairly large place with a bar and booths inside, as well as a stage. In the back they have a covered patio - nice for those sunny Alaskan nights. The place was crowded every time I stopped in - especially if a band was playing. Food was great - very fresh and well prepared seafood. Nice selection of both regional and national microbrews, and the staff seems to know their beers. Unfortunately they were a bit over-worked at times, so service occassionally suffered. When they had time to make it to your table they were great though! A must-visit if you make it to Anchorage.

I'm re-writing my review since the original I wrote four years ago.
Humpy's continues to raise prices and serve smaller portions both for food and beverages. Their "pints" are now down to 13 ounces for $6.00. Most other Anchorage pubs are still holding the line at $4.50 for a full 16 ounce pint.
Largest selection of tap beers in Anchorage. Usually about 30-40 available representing several Alaska micro-brewries (Moose's Tooth, Alaskan Amber, Snow Goose) as well as lower 48 sources (Full Sail, Pyramid, Rogue, Fat Tire, Kemper, etc.). The selection changes most nights depending on what is available from their distributor. Also have seasonals and specialties from time to time.
Bottled beer includes mainly Belgians and some obscure stuff.
Generally friendly staff but they can get over-worked during the weekend rush.
Humpy's is still extremely popular but I'm taking my business elsewhere unless their prices return to something reasonable.

I just fell in love with this place. First off, I'm a sucker for any no crap on tap bar and while I'm spoiled by having had my regular haunt for three months have 125 taps, I know that's extremely unusual. The food is pretty good, nothing outstanding, but priced reasonably and it makes a good lunch place. The beer selection is really good, especially if you're an East Coaster with a good selection of Alaska and Pacific Northwest beers. I could have come here the whole time I was in Anchorage and have 2 beers with every meal and still not have finished their alaska-made beer offerings. They even had a fairly impressive offering of bottled belgians, although the bottle selection was nothing compared to the tap selection. If I ever lived in Anchorage, this would be my bar. One cool thing about the decor was the collection of old tap handles on the wall.
