Had this at Craftheads in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan http://craftheads.jp
2008 Vintage; Batch 64
A - Jet black pour into a pint glass yielding a one-finger thick, foamy and tan head (4)
S - Pleasant scents of oak on the nose with fruity suggestions of primarily raisins; aromas of caramel and chocolate were also present on the rich nose (5)
T - Sweet and intense chocolate and caramel notes upfront breaking into truck loads of dark fruits with suggestions of plums, raisins and dates; the finish comes with a solid chocolate backing and some pleasant notes of oak. The complexity and balanced blending of all these flavors are nothing short of astonishing (5)
M - Full-bodied thickness with a creamy smooth texture; carbonation was slightly on the high though (4.5)
D - Fantastic flavors and stunning complexity yet deceivingly easy drinking at 10% ABV; definitely a top beer well suited for my palates (5)
This was one of the best (if not the best) craft beer I've had on my trip to Japan from Jan 18 - 28, 2011. It was so good, I bought another bottle of it (1100 Yen) from Tanakaya Beer store along with a bottle of Cherry Adam (2100 Yen)

Poured a murkey black brown ruby hue with no foam to speak of just a thin ring of beige color and the viscous liquid has legs and no lace.
Sweet very ripe fig and assorted dark stone fruit aromas dominate. Some background dark roastiness from grain with little to no hop aromas.
Sweet yet not cloying again with the really ripe dark stone fruit flavors with just the right kiss of hop bitterness.
Certainly full bodied viscous potion that coats the mouth with vigor.
Wow, Great brew though not quite my style.

Picked this up at Top Hops in NYC
A: Poured a really nice cola-like brown, perhaps more on the brown side. Two fingers of creamy, off-white khaki head. Sticks around greatly.
S: Wow! Effervescent! Sweet caramel, burnt brown sugar, some dark fruits, and a hint of smoke. The creamy sweetness is dominant.
T: It doesn't QUITE live up to the smell, but still really great. Caramel, smoke, little bit of chocolate, and some cola-like notes
M: Pretty spot on. Carbonation is just enough to rinse the pallet.
O: Great old ale. Must. Find. AFtW!
