on-tap @ Hair of the Dog.
from notes.
Hazy dark golden, with faint red/brown tinges and a thin white head.
Delicate hoppy, citric notes in the nose with some pale malts in the backing in both the nose and taste.
Medium body, mild foamy carbonation.
I was impressed by the strong hop presence in such a low ABV beer. Really enjoyable.

Had on tap at HotD. Review from notes.
A: Pours a hazy orange with a small white head on top with great retention and nice lacing.
S: Plenty of citrus on the aroma, a little nondescript in terms of fruit, as well as some pale a malt.
T: Very similar to the aroma, some light citrus, grapefruit and orange with a bit more pale malt.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation, very easy drinking.
O: A pretty good beer, extremely drinkable, not entirely surprising at 3.2% abv.

On tap at the brewery yesterday.
Hazy orange with a dense, white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose is super hoppy, (aromatic rather than bitter) with a blend of fresh Cascades and Simcoe (I think?). Big grapefruit and orange nose, there is no malt here. The palate opens with a big hop flavor and low bitterness, with the pungent blend of Simcoe and Cascades lending a blend of tropical fruit and grapefruit. Moderately chalky mid-palate, this beer is light in body, highly carbonated and has a drying finish. Hop oils are low, this is all flavor hops here. Excellent.

First had: on tap at HotD, Portland, OR
A parti-gyle style beer made from Doggie Claws barleywine. As such, this can't be considered a barleywine by any means, not to mention it was only 3.5%ABV. So I'll say it's a mild ale.
Poured a cloudy, burnt orange color with a small off-white head, that displayed moderate lacing. Aroma was pretty subdued. Considering this was bred from a barleywine, I was surprised to pick up major hop notes in the nose. Taste was just as surprising, huge on the grapefruit, lots of citrusy hops, nearly IPA-like, but a bit more watered down than a full-blown IPA. Sweet malts came in near the finish, and left a mildly bitter aftertaste. Medium-bodied, and pretty drinkable overall. Almost indistinguishable from the actual Doggie Claws brew. Neat.
