Quite a reasonable place to check out if you are in the area.
It's very much a large warehouse like setting, and extremely cavernous so there's nothing but functional atmosphere and large isles which is fine. The beer is on your right hand side where it is only in one aisle, too bad you'd think there would be more based on the size of the store but it's only about 10% with the rest being wines, and some items in the back in the cooler.
There's a decent selection here with many breweries represented, and there's some decent foreign selection also. There are however MANY old items sitting on the shelves here that looked like they have been sitting, definitely found VERY old IPAs, but the flipside is that some other items that can sit well were still here, and there are some nice gems.
Service is actually quite good, last time I was here they boxed up my own bottles without even asking. Great service.
If I am in the area (which is rarely) I always try to stop in, it's totally worth it.

Checked this place out a couple of weeks ago. Good selection of craft stuff, a lot of which I hadn't seen around my area. Browsed for a while and picked up a couple of new IPA's, which I wasn't crazy about. One being "Green Flash Green Bullet" from California. It had too much of a malt backbone for my liking, but nonetheless.
Didn't speak to anyone but overheard another patron talking to one of the guys about a local brewing company and really seemed to know his stuff. I'd come back here again if in the area.

Big bright, spotless store in a strip mall. Nice long aisle of craft and specialty brews. Mass brews relegated to the floor or coolers. Selection of six packs was a little limited, by I did not have trouble leaving cash behind when I left. Make your ow six pack is fine. They have the larger bottles separated, which was kind of nice. Easy to locate things, well organized, but not entirely sure how it was organized (brewery, style, etc). No problem finding things since there is plenty of space, just unclear what the reasoning is for shelf organization. Staff was pleasant, and when I explained I just wanted to browse they left me to my own evil devices. Service seems fine, I just did not need much.
Thought they were a bit pricey for the area. Not a beer Nirvana for the ultra rare stuff, but solid selection and I would go there when in the area.

I can't speak highly enough of my experience here. I asked on the NE forum where to go near RI, and this shop came up frequently. I was put in touch with their beer guy, Ray, who managed to secure me a Cantillon bottle as well as a free can of Heady! We spoke at some length, despite it being xmas eve, about all things beer. Very nice guy, fantastic service.
Not being too familiar with the beer selection in the area I can't say I'm positive that the selection is top-notch, but I'd be surprised if it weren't. I picked up a BA BORIS as well as 6 of Cisco's woods, and would have gotten more if I didn't need to fly it home.

Yankee Spirits Swansea is a great place. The selection is pretty extensive. They stock most of all the major craft beweries with MA distro. They also stock many quality local breweries such as Mayflower, Pretty things, Clown shoes, etc. The imported selection is pretty solid as well. They guy who manages the beer department there is named Ray, and he is a swell guy. He is possesses a veritable wealth of information about beer. He is very jovial and his suggestions have been spot on in my experience.
The pricing is very reasonable. They tend to ramp up the prices of special releases slightly. But then again, that's probably very common these days.
Since they are so small, the chances of getting a really hyped special release beer (KBS, Big John, etc.) are slim to none unless you are a very frequent customer and get to know the beer department staff there. They tend only to disperse the special releases on fridays and saturdays as well. Every store has its own policy when it comes to this stuff, and this one is vastly different from Attleboro in that regard.

new review for 2011.
Easy location, .5mi off 195.
GREAT selection. Too many breweries to list. If they come to MA, there's a strong chance they're on the shelves here. If not, ask and they'll see what they can do. Very very helpful.
Prices are more competitive then they were a year ago. Good deals on the shelf.
Lots of imports, west coast goodies, special/limited release, and always something new.
VERY helpful and friendly staff. Ray the Beer Guy is very knowledgeable.
If you're south of Providence looking for some good beer, there's nowhere better.

This store is exactly what's needed for Rhode Island's East Bay area, and Southeast Mass., if you're looking for a great range of craft beers. For example, I was of a mind for a couple of Rauchbiers, and sure enough they stock Aecht Schlenkerla imports from Germany.
Want a great Mexican beer? I challenge you to find Bohemia elsewhere. Selection goes on and on, with particular emphasis on New England brewed beers. So, while you can get Sam Adams anywhere in the area, and American Watered Lager on any corner, at Yankee Spirits in Swansea you can pick up something that will challenge your palate.
And once you've savored a couple of craft brews, you can always chase after a cheap buzz with some basic brew, of which they also carry plenty.
Price? A notch above average. But if thou cannot handle the tariff, brew thy own!

If you find yourself traveling on 195 for a trip or just happen to live in or near Swansea, Yankee Spirits is worth stopping at. It is at the end of a shopping plaza across the street from a mall. The store is large and includes a great deal of wine and hard liquor in addition to the beer. The beer selection is very good and does a great job of stocking massachusetts produced beer, such as Wachusett, Cisco, Haverhill, Pretty Things, Ipswich, others. Other brands included Pizza Port, Goose Island, Alesmith, Rogue, Southern Tier, Moylans, Newport Storm, more. Belgian selection is also nice, as well as the U.K., and other offerings like Mikkeller.
The staff here is friendly and helpful.

stopped in on my way to the cape. absolutly gigantic store. the selection is very impressive, alot of imports and craft beers to choose from. huge selection of six packs and bomber bottles. alot of beers i cant get in CT, which was the main reason for stopping in and i wasnt dissapointed there.. prices are resonable and the staff is relatively helpful. they have some harder to find items here. i'd recomend anyone who happens to pass through swansea to stop in and check it our, a must see. i could easily have spent a couple hours in here just looking at the beer selection.

Visited for the first time on 8/18/08. It's nearly impossible for me to write this review without comparing this store to the Attleboro store. This one is just a little smaller, which isn't surprising since the Attleboro store is a converted supermarket. It spacious, neat and clean, with a long section of shelving on the right side devoted to craft beer. That part is nearly as big as the other store and the selection almost identical, which is darn good. The only differences I noticed in the selection were beers that were either beers that weren't selling well in the other store or beer that are no longer being brewed. The service was friendly. I didn't deal with them enough to be able to gauge their knowledge of craft beer. Prices were also nearly identical to the Attleboro store, which is on the inexpensive side of reasonable. Overall, it's an excellent store that has been placed in area that sorely needed it.
