Bold City Killer Whale Cream Ale
12oz bottle into a pilsner glass

A: Pours a crystal clear, straw yellow with just under a fingers width of bright white head which dissipates down fairly quickly to only a thin outer ring. Looks like a budweiser, except slightly darker. Leaves no lacing.

S: Toasted white bread. Thats about all I get.

T: Lots of grain, some adjunct type flavors. A touch of spice. Not awful, in fact, better than I expected, but still not very good.

M/D: Heavy carbonation, medium bodied, drinkability is good, but for such a light beer it better be.

O: A decent example of a pretty dismal style. I dont really understand the concept of craft beer and adjunct ingredients. A craft brewery brewing a cream ale is like a woman getting a breast reduction, it just doesn't make sense and quite frankly should be illegal. Overall, not terrible, but I would not ever purchase this.

I have had this one before but a friend of mine loves it and brought some over so I am reviewing it this time around.

A: thin white head on a hazy golden-yellow body. Not exciting but par for the style.

S: musty light malt flavor. typical grain and grassy notes as well.

T: more grains, bread and light malts. very subtle fruity notes if you search them out.

M: light body and highly carbonated.

Overall: maybe I am harsh on these because I am not a fan of the style but to me a cream ale should be creamy and most usually are not.

Bold City Cream Ale
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into my DFH Signature glass
A: Pours a cloudy, straw colored yellow with no head.
S: Like a generic lager with some lemon and a little funkiness.
T: Bland, tastes like a cheap lager i.e. Budweiser; I thought this was supposed to be a cream ale, where’s the ale? Where’s the cream? Maybe some slight lemon flavor.
M: Same, Generic and slightly skunky despite only buying this two weeks ago.
O: Not impressed, better than PBR that’s about it. C

Was in JAX fro a Monday evening Football game and stayed at the Hyatt that had the Killer Whale Cream Ale on tap. The beer is a light ale brewed and is very easy to drink, The beer poured a light clear golden with thin white head. The smell included grain and barley. The taste was similar to the smell a very bready taste with slight hints of sweetness. The mouthfeel was light in body but smooth with mild carbonation. Overall is was a decent cream ale and very drinkable.

Killer Whale Cream Ale by Bold City Brewery Jacksonville Fl. 5.5% alcohol.

A- Pours a calm yellowish orange fluid that produces a small white head leaving light if any lacing.

S- Slight citrusy scent and mild malts are in the nose.

T-M- Taste is a small bite of citrusy hops and mild malty backbone. Mouthfeel is smooth but lacking on the creamy side but all and all drinkable.

O- Drinkable as hell if at the right price.

Poured on-tap at the Bold City Brewery, the beer was served up in a pint glass. The beer pours a pale yellow-gold coloring, slightly hazy, with not a trace of head. There is a slightly sour malty aroma, with some slight musty overtones. Round and smooth bodied, yet it remains light in mouth. The beer has roasty/toasty flavors, with a smokey and roasted aftertaste. Smooth finish. This is well-bodied, which is different for the lager taste that this cream ale carries with it. Interesting brew, and I think it might have been a little bit better out of the growler after it had some time to settle and warm. Either way, I would drink it!

If I have to have a light beer, let it be this. It's light and refreshing and actually has some fruity notes and no off flavors. This beer will pair with those lighter meals like salads that imperials won't. It's a golden color with a high carbonation which makes this a nice bubbly delight. The craft beer to train people on..

Poured into a pint glass at kickbacks
Reviewed from notes

A-Pours ultra gold. Oddly thiny fizzy head for a cream ale with not much lace or bubbles.

S-very very light aroma a little sweetness and some very faint indistinguishable hops.

T-A mild amount of sweetness and a splash of citrus and no creaminess. Weak flavors all around and a funky odd aftertaste that lingers.

M-Oddly the mouthfeel saves this beer for the most part. Its almost what it should be for the style maybe a little on the fizzy side.

D-Drinkability of this beer is as high as it is light. I did not really care for its flavors that much but if you did this would be a very drinkable beer for you. I did try the Dukes brown ale after this and enjoyed it much better but didnt have the time to review it. In the future however I will pass on this one.
