Big coffee flavors dominate early only to be wiped out by an enormous about of Willamette hop flavors. One of GPBC’s most requested beers. Complex and full of flavor yet amazingly sessionable. Brewed with coffee from Octane Coffee Roasters here in Birmingham, AL.

Crowler filled 12/3/22; drank the same day @ the Barbarian.

Brown/black appearance.

Nice tan head; strong lace.

Light roast coffee bean, chocolate syrup & creamed oat notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Light roast coffee bean & mild milk chocolate flavors up front; faint raw oat notes on the finish.

Smooth & enjoyable.

Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Purchased at Habersham Beverages outside of Savannah in June of 2017. Consumed shortly thereafter. Poured from the 12 oz. can into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Pours a dark brown, but obviously brown rather than black. Nearly opaque, visible carbonation on the low side, yet a couple fingers' worth of tan head with good retention. A pretty beer.

S: Coffee-dominated for sure, but a fair amount of roasted malts and chocolatey cacao nibs. Notes of caramel and leather, tobacco and toffee. But coffee wins the day here, with a mild nuttiness and floral character within. This smells pretty good, but it's nothing you haven’t smelled in a bunch of other coffee stouts.

T: Big coffee flavors – a breakfast roast with mild nuttiness. A mild green coffee aspect, but minimal green pepper. Roasted malts, modest bitter in the roast. Milder chocolate, and a touch of toffee sweetness. Drying tobacco, a mild hop bitterness. A touch of oatmeal sweetness and richness near the swallow and on the exhale with more coffee and accompanying roast.

M: Medium-bodied, but I might have expected a touch thicker with the oatmeal addition. Low alcohol presence, and carbonation sensation on the low side of average but fits the beer.

O: This is pretty solid coffee stout. It’s maybe nothing that stands out head and shoulders above something else you might have on the shelves near you. But really no missteps here, with a nice bit of roast but not overly bitter; and still manages to almost completely avoid green pepper flavors. Nicely done for sure.

Picked this up a while ago when I was down in Dixie, as I've been attempting to review at least one bottle and one can from all 50 states. Yes, I was actually here as it was across the street from Regions Field and when I had to pick one beer to take for the road, this was what I grabbed. Sure enough, this was a winner as the coffee flavor was wonderful and it was a great example of how full-flavored and easygoing something of this style should be!

Good pour to this beer from Good People as it looked like coffee with a bit of light seeping in around the edges and plenty of khaki head to top it off. Tons of webbed, full lacing stayed behind on my pint glass as that was enough of a sight to behold! A nice amount of coffee, oatmeal, dark bread, and earthy hops on the nose as the taste brought in a toasted and roasted slickness that made this beer easily accessible. Quite lively in flavor, this felt like something cold-brewed that harnessed the bean while carrying a fully body and a mouthfeel that was enjoyable; making me want to swish it a bit before it rapidly went down the hatch. The oatmeal came through in the back as the taste was a bit rough and dry, but certainly not enough to detract from how wonderful this beer was!

The right amount of alcohol and carbonation only added to this brew's appeal. A bit of blood orange rind and bitter chocolate enhanced everything that was going on as this quickly became one of the bigger surprises that I've had this year. Props to good people for nailing this style and standing toe-to-toe with the classics in this category - anyone looking for what an English Oatmeal Stout should be would well well-versed to go to the Heart of Dixie and give this a go!

Super good. Would be hard pressed to tell it from Founders Breakfast Stout, hop flavor a little more present due to the can. For a beer that tastes so good, the aroma isn’t the best.

Deep brown in color with a half inch of creamy brown head. Aroma is of oatmeal and coffee. Heavy, thick lacing. I’m tasting a coffee forward oatmeal stout. The bitterness of the coffee lingers a bit. The mouth is silky smooth from the oatmeal.

12 oz can purchased in Huntsville, AL in a mix-a-six. Poured into Calusa mini snifter.

Deep colors with brown edging and dark chocolate brown body. Head is fuzzy and creamy at the same time, 1 finger tall, with lots of frothy lacing up the glass.

Aromas are mainly of sulphur and coffee grounds. Slight pale chocolate and roast malts.

Flavor is heavy on the coffee, with a really pleasant chocolate roastiness. Burnt brownie ends, chocolate pudding, dark burnt coffee, and fruity coffee bean flavors all combine. Not bad!

Feel is acidic and carbonated, with a really interesting puckering fruit acidity filling the whole mouth.

Overall, a really interesting and delicious Coffee Stout. Glad I have more cans to enjoy.
