Came to the table in a standard pint a slight hazed deep burnt orange with a nice looking one finger creamy/frothy head that nver really leaves,I really liked the creamy texture of the head.Aromas were of herbal and grassy hops along with somewhat sweet bready malts,not a big citric resiny bomb.Flavors are alot like the nose with grassy and leafy hops giving off their flavor profile but not in your face,a camel maltiness hits quite hard as well.Not a big hopped up IPA but there is nice herbal hop notes.

Pours a dark burnt orange color with golden apricot edges and a 2.5 finger yellowish, off-white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Really good retention with large chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Nice looking IPA.

Earthy, grassy aroma with resinous pine and oily hops countered by a subtle citrus character and sweet malt presence. Floral and slightly onion-y with some grass, pine needle and soil followed by some grapefruit and orange peel. Sweet malt backbone with caramel toffee and biscuit. Very earthy with soil/dirt and a stronger onion like quality than I expected.

On the fuller end of medium bodied with a dry, bitter hop presence that lingers over the sweeter notes and malt backbone into a bone dry finish. Dank and earthy with lots of grass, dank buds, pine needle and spruce tip followed by subtle grapefruit and citrus peel before finishing with a sweet malt backbone. The onion character is again noticeable, but it's nowhere near as strong as it was in the nose. Very dank and bitter with a decent amount of malt sweetness for balance. Hints of biscuit, cracker, toffee, caramel and booze toward the finish. Nicely balanced IPA but could use a bit more of a tropical/citrus fruit presence to round things out.

A - Hazy medium orange with one finger of thick, foamy dirty cream coloured head.

S - Grapefruit, pine, orange peel and a slight honey malt sweetness

T - Good bitterness up front. Pine, orange zest, grapefruit and herbal notes.

This was sent to me by Bulbman, so a big thanks to him for grabbing this one for me. The beer poured out as a nice copper color with a subtle haziness to it. The head is cream colored with a pretty good retention and sticky lacing on the glass. The smell of the beer at first gave off some big citrus notes reminding me of oranges. The taste is more earthy, it's got a pretty good malt and hop balance to it. The mouthfeel is decent, good carbonation to it with an almost medium body. Overall this beer is pretty nice, I'm looking forward to trying the imperial IPA sometime.

A- This beer pours a hazy orange body with a lumpy butter cream heat that last and sticks to the glass. There is a big carbonation of bubbles that pop off the bottom and push to the surface.

S- The green slightly dank citrus hops are juicy with a woody character coming through as it opens. There are some caramel malt smells coming through as the beer opens in the finish.

T- The big green citrus orange hops have a gentle sweetness to it with the hops grown all the way to the finish. There is a nice pungency hop flavor that lingers with just a bit of bitterness, and some biscuit malt hints come through in the after taste aswell. As the beer warms there is a fresh pale malt flavor with some chalk notes under the hops.

M- This beer has a medium-full mouthfeel with a tight fizz and no alcohol heat.

O- This is a big full bodied IPA that has nice depth and some good malt support pushing through as the beer opens. It is very drinkable and thanks to coldchill for sending this to me.

This beer pours up a deep hazy copper with a big two finger fluffy off white head, decent retention, and lots of sticky lacing left behind. Smell is mostly earthy hops. Taste is very full. Maltiness hits the tongue first followed by a spicy hop bitterness without a whole lot of grapefruit like dominates so many IPAs. I love the grapefruit, but this one is nice without it. Mouthfeel is kind of medium with a bit of an aftertaste. Good beer. Never would have a problem drinking more of these.

Hey, it’s another nice IPA in a can, and from Alabama to boot. Reviewed from notes, thanks to Hotmetal1.

Pours hazy, dark gold; kind of a weird, sudsy, fizzy head that doesn’t look particularly appetizing. Retention is so-so; decent lacing on the glass. Aroma lets you know right away this beer has a strong malt presence; the hops are definitely there, with herbal, piney, and citrus notes, but the malt is robust, bready, and sweet smelling and a faint hit of booze can be detected. The flavor nicely balances this malty caramel sweetness, assertive, bitter, pine-and grapefruit hops, and surprising but pleasant boozy notes.

Medium-full body for style; smooth, low-medium carbonation, solid mouthfeel. In many respects this beer drinks bigger than it really is; more like a DIPA in taste and feel, with nearly the alcohol to match. Solid but unspectacular, just slightly heavy-handed. If I lived in Alabama I’d be happy to have at least one local IPA of this quality that’s easy accessible though.

A: Dark orange and slightly hazy. Minimum carbonation. Small head but a strong one with some lacing.

S: Lots of citrus hops and piney resin. Some caramel malt. Honey. Not a huge aroma coming from it but it smells good.

T: Very refreshing taste. Very crisp and well balanced. One of the less resiny/bitter American IPAs I’ve tried but it is delicious. Fair amount of caramel toasted malt and honey comes through. No bad aftertaste.

M: Light body but not watery. I was expecting to want more carbonation but it was a great amount and gave the beer a very refreshing character.

O: Very drinkable. A session beer.

Poured from the can into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: The beer pours a slightly cloudy amber color with a finger of fluffy, off white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. The head sticks around pretty well.

Smell: Sweet malt with a nice hop punch up front. Citrus peel bitterness along with a citrus juice note. I'm getting some mild apricot.

Taste: A strong citrus peel hop bitterness with a good amount of malt sweetness to balance things out. The finish is very bitter. Overall I would say that this one is a bit one dimensional.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I thought this beer was good but not very exciting. I might have another one, but I wouldn't search it out.

12 ounce can. Aroma is floral, piney and grassy. Smell is very fresh. The store I got it from said it just came in so I assume it's quite fresh. Wish there was a born on date however. Taste is also fresh and grassy, slight malt sweetness on the back end. Not overly bitter on the taste but nicely hopped. Satisfyingly so. Slight alcohol in the taste, but easy to drink. Not the most delicious Ipa on earth but no I have no complaints.

Poured into a stein, formed a 3/4" orangey beige head over the cloudy orangey amber brew. Head fizzes away at a reasonable pace, with leggy but minimal lace. Aroma is pretty intense citrus and pine.

Taste is sweet to start, juicy citrus in the middle, pine bitter bite through the close, with lingering aftertaste. Mouthfeel is very smooth, and drinkability is great. Happy with this first offering tried from Good People.

A- Slightly hazy amber body with a thick fluffy off-white head.

S- Hops are noticeable, but not dominate. Pine, some citrus, along with a bready malt aroma.

T- Hops do not stand out, malt is very noticeable and the alcohol comes through way too much for a 7% beer.

M- Has a sharp bite, along with high carbonation levels.

O- I appreciate both hop-forward and balanced IPAs, but this one does not really fit into either. Not a good IPA.

Poured from a bottle to a brandy snifter. It has a three finger head on it, which is good because I find that head releases that wonderful hop aroma.

Smell: Good citrus, hop aroma a little resiny maybe some Simcoe in there.

Appearance: A nice orange to amber colored creamy white head.

Taste: Delightful with that citrus notes carrying through on the flavor and a malty backbone. When the hop aroma begins to fade a little by the end the malt is still nice with a little sweetness.

Overall: A good IPA because I love the hop punch to begin with. I have tried Hop Ottin and others and found them too malty. I love a more West Coast style with hoppiness.

Smell: Toffee dominates the aroma, with herbal and grassy hops in the background

Taste: Biscuity, up front, with a growing toffee sweetness; by mid-palate, the piney, resinious hops add another dimension, though the malt grows sweeter in the process; vegetal flavors, including chives, linger in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Not a bad IPA and I will say that the flavor profile is distinctive - just not what I am seeking when I feel like an IPA

Aroma here has a resinous, grassy, perhaps pine tree hoppiness to it, with a small sweet malt smell poking through after it has opened up.

The taste has an initial good punch of herbal hops, perhaps a bit grassy....with a caramel backbone that is certainly present in the middle part of the swallow. Bitterness is quite medicinal and lingering on the backend and puckers my tongue a bit...not sure if I'd classify that as pleasant.

American IPA is one of the most crowded styles in craft beer, so one like this just isn't one I'm going to fall back on very often. I didn't find the hop character or finish to be to my liking.

I first had this beer after 2011 Dark Lord. Pestering people to trade Chicago locals for anything we don't get, I took this extremely generic looking can gladly. It was memorable.

Fast forward almost a year, and I'm contacted by a BA looking to get some Daisy Cutter, and I find myself flush with Good People beer.

This can was stored briefly in the 55-60 degree range.
Transferred to the fridge for an hour.
Cracked, and poured into a large tulip.

My experience of Good People IPA and Snake Handler has been that the beer is borderline over-carbed. Not o the extent that there's something wrong, but that it produces more than 3 fingers of stiff, retentive foam. Drinking slowly through an hour long tv program, my glass is covered in suds, and the top of the small amount left in the glass is itself completely shrouded in lacing.
The beer itself looks like most IPA options. Perhaps a little more amber than some.

Bearing in mind that this is a traditional American IPA, it's not intensely aromatic. You can smell it without lifting your glass, but it's not like any of the more extreme DIPA or IIPA options out there.
A floral hoppy aroma, not the intense pine needles and cat pee we all love, but it has it where it counts. Totally appropriate for the style.

The taste is fantastic and refreshing. This is worth having. Don't look past the generic can! It's plenty hoppy, but a little different. I'm told it's primarily Willamette as a bittering hop, which isn't entirely usual for the style. A bit of extra malty caramel taste, but not particularly sweet.

It's a smooth mouthfeel, a little boozy, and the beer holds its carbonation just fine.

Overall, I'd suggest this as a totally worthy IPA. Remember, if you're after an extreme beer, go get an extreme beer. Keeping intents in mind while drinking, this is quite good, andi will seek out more when I run out.

Pours a slightly hazy honey orange with a 2 inch foamy orange-white head that settles to a craggy head on top of the beer. Thin foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus zest and herbal hops along with some alcohol aromas. Taste is of citrus zest, grapefruit, and a malty finish. There is a mild bitterness on the palate after each sip that quickly fades. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with only a slight crispness and a medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good IPA but I am enjoying the taste more than the aroma.

Pours a orange-copper color. 1.5 fingers of eggshell colored head. It looks like an IPA is supposed to look. No flaws, but nothing exceptional.

Good People IPA has a nose dominated by green, bitter hops. It smells grassy and vegetal on the whole. There's some citrus here -- orange mostly -- but the hops are not the lush American kind that I prefer. There's probably some Cascade here, even though it isn't that grapefruity. The malts are sweet biscuit in nature. Pretty average stuff.

The flavor is also average, though it might be a stretch to call this an American IPA. This is something of an aggressive English IPA. It's malt profile and the flavor of the hops strike me as having much more in common with English IPAs than American ones. This isn't packed full of crystal malts, for one. And the hops just aren't the fruity kind you expect from an American hoppy beer. Good People IPA is all oily, bitter, and green as far as its hop bill goes. With nominal malt sweetness that doesn't counteract the bitterness (which is somewhat unfortunate, in this case). It's like an extreme English IPA, but not as balanced or tasty as, say, Three Floyds Blackbeard.

The mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a light sweetness. Again, pretty standard-issue. Overall, this is a perfectly average IPA. I don't know why Good People is making this a year-round canned beer and not their far-superior Hitchhiker IPA. Too underwhelming to excite beer nerds, but too bitter and green to convert many newbies to the world of IPAs.

Serving: Can into an ale glass.

A: Slightly cloudy, copper/amber. A full inch of solid head. Very nice.

S: Muted hops and malts. Nothing huge in the smell department.

T: Pretty malty, with a bready character to it. Quite a bit of hop bitterness although the hops seem somewhat one dimensional. Not bad.

M: Decent, thick mouthfeel.

O: I hadn't had this one before so I grabbed a six-pack. Not my favorite IPA but this will do in a pinch.

Pours a coppery hue, slightly hazy, with a nice solid finger of creamy tan head. Retention was fantastic and this is an overall solid looking brew.

The aroma is more subtle than anticipated, with more sweeter, juicy citrus notes, and a solid caramel malt sweetness.

The taste is much more hoppier. There's a predominant bitter bite to it, with some piny citrus hop notes, sweet nutty caramel malts for the back up.

Solid light creamy texture with a nice carbonation bite on it as well. Overall, solid stuff. It doesn't wow, but this is a daily drinker I'd be honored to have around constantly.

Pours a hazy sunset orange with 2 fingers of soapy cream colored head. Excellent retention and solid lacing.

Getting some nice earthy hop notes but I'm also getting some soapy notes as well... its kind of off putting but doesn't wreck the beer.

Nice floral and earthy hop notes take the lead on this brew. Not a whole lot else going on... pretty one dimensional but still pretty tasty.

Medium bodied with a pretty high amount of carbonation. It kind of makes this beer work by enhancing the hop experience with the pine needle effect happening on my tongue with each sip. Pretty easy drinking.

Overall, this was a nice IPA. Pretty one dimensional but definitely still a tasty brew. It has a nice resinating pine finish on it once it starts to warm up and it is leaving me with some hop dragon breath... Definitely a nice extra in my most recent trade.

4/5 Pours out a nice dark orange with a great white, two-finger head with great retention.

2/5 Smell is really malty upfront. Way more malt in the nose than hops yet the malt isn't very sweet - just a little. In the back there is a little piny hops but its hard to find.

2.5/5 Taste is also very malty upfront and definately sweet caramel. However the sweetness is offset pretty well with some pine from the hops. Basically no citrus, lot's of sweet malt, and quite a bit of piny bitterness which balances to some degree. Not a great beer but not too bad either.

3.5/4 Mouthfeel is medium and nice for the style.

A: Nice head. Barely clear. Amber-brown.

S: Yummy hops. Slightly subdued? Soapy?

T: Quite different from my many canned experiences. This glass is more fruity and less bitter. There is a bitterness that is not obviously hoppy, but instead reminds me of the preceding Coffee Oatmeal Stout. Hops (Willamette?) are present (and delicious!) but earthy and spicy rather than astringent...akin to English hops. (Edit: So apparently Willamette is related to Fuggles but more fruity. That makes sense. Thanks Wikipedia.)

M: Creamy, carbonated/spicy, and dryingly bitter.

O: A fantastic IPA, but I *might* prefer the canned version? Recommended however you can find it. Drink up!

Grabbed some cans from Alabama. Pours copper to dark golden. Smells clean, I'm not much of a smeller. The taste is a bit more complex. Starts a little citrusy then fades into a slightly bitter finish. It leaves a little tartness on the rear of your tongue.
