Doin it well and easy at the #1 joint: The Playground, in DTSA
Interesting to say the least. Hoppy like your grandmama after a few White Zins at her birthday, but the aftertaste is a bit subdued like Raul when he takes your grandmama's codeine. Well n good, but a lil different - like that lil wiener no one wanted to play four square with in grammar Skool.
Raul recommend. But he's a lil perplexed.

Clear golden color with a think white head, very minimal lacing from top to bottom. Smell of citrus is weak. No so much bitterness, very mellow. Citrus taste is there. Crisp, thin, and clean mouth feel. Leaves my mouth extremely dry. Overall i'd have to say that this is very easy to drink and a good gateway IPA for non-hopheads.
Side note, reminds me of El Segundo's White Dog IPA.

22 oz. bomber,
A: Pours gold with a medium-high white head leaving some nice lace. Clear as day.
S: Notes of citrus and pineapple/mango/tropical.
T: Nice, again, citrus tropical mix bringing lemon verbana, yellow mango, passion fruit and pineapple to the table.
M: Crisp, clean, fairly dry for the style. Refreshing, medium-bodied.
O: This is a good IPA with definite appeal to fans of a certain style. The bomber price at $6.50 is outrageous for a single IPA, next time I'll go to the source.

On tap at Bootlegger's Brewery in Fullerton, CA.
Pours a clear gold with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with melon and citrus flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

On-tap at Bootlegger's
Pours a clear golden orange color with a finger of white head. Intense pine and grapefruit aromas right away. A bit of an herbal note and grass, too. Very mild malt, in typical Bootlegger’s fashion. A very dry IPA with a nice bitterness. Very citric and piney with a strong grapefruit character. Only a hint of bready malt. The bitterness stays on the back end.

Pours lightly hazy gold, on tap, so not much room for a head, but a nice ring leaves plenty of lacing down the whole glass.
Smells of grapefruit and a hint of mango. The barest hint of malt is in the back where it should be.
Taste is nice and bitter throughout, with some grapefruit, and it's pith. Another blast of bitter on the finish rounds it out.
Texture is good, a nice hop sting, and medium drinkability. The beer leans from light to medium bodied, and is quite nice.
Reviewed live at the brewery, this quite a nice IPA. Plenty of bitter and punch. Glad to try.

Shared by brewery rep Michael at a tasting. Bootleggers does some amazing one-off IPAs. Last year we got SoCo and this offering is in the same league. Malt and hops on the nose- herb, honey, and citrus give it plenty of character. Tastewise this beer does not let down. Ample hops are profiled (Simcoe I believe is present here); we get mint, citrus rind, and herbal notes. The finish is pure heaven- sweet malt and orange cordial mixed with ample hop bitterness. Wonderful. Can't stop drinking this, give me that growler, get your own pour...

Had this one on tap at the brewery this past weekend.
A - Golden with small head that disappears pretty quick.
S - Definitely get the smell of the Galaxy hops on this one but not much else.
T - The hops come through and are pretty strong on this one. I would have liked a little more balance. The nose doesn't quite translate on the palate.
M - Not bad. Not too thin and easy to drink overall.
O - Not what I wanted it to be but it was an above average ipa but nothing to get too excited about.

5/14/13 - Had this one again once it was bottled and it was much better than the first time. Not sure if they tweaked the recipe since it's original release or my taste buds changed. I really enjoyed this one a lot better the second time around.
