The beer is dark brown in color with a nice foamy head on top of it. The foam is beige/brown color and disappear quite fast. The aroma presents fruity notes with some caramel. Some sugar or maybe its caramel. In the mouth, the beer is more complex then in the aroma. I get some oak and also some woody notes too and hazelnut.
A lot of carbonation in the mouth. It makes the beer thinner... this one would be better with less carbonation. A nice overall beer but a bit pricey!

Poured from a 500ml. bottle, bottled 01.2012.
Appearance: The glass fills with a light tan foam that thankfully doesn't wait too long before revealing a brown body with major blood red tints. Fluffy & airy like a good Belgian.
Smell: Yeast, spices, hints of vanilla that show a bit of oak with ripe bananas and light citrus.
Taste: Oak is more present here. Yeast is strong but oak shows its teeth and overrides. The problem is that it leaves more of an alcohol burn than subtle layers. Whiskey traces are present.
Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation and mellow but feels disjointed.
Overall: I'm willing to bet that this was aged in whiskey barrels. Has that presence but doesn't mesh well with the Belgian side of this ale. Glimmers of potential but not great.

Bottle at Winter Warmer: Poured a medium brown color ale with a nice foamy head. Aroma consists of light residual sugar with some light spice and dry fruit notes. Taste is not as complex as I had expected with some notes of residual sugar and some dry fruits and light spices. Body is about average with no apparent alcohol. Overall this was OK though below the average from their other beers.
