A: The beer is very close to being jet black in color—only traces of dark red are visible near the bottom of the glass when it is held up to the light. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that quickly died down, leaving only a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of chocolate and licorice are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of chocolate malts along with notes of roasted malts and licorice. There is a slight amount of bitterness, so no sweetness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer doesn't taste as strong and complex as other double/imperial stouts, but for this reason and the fact that it hides its alcohol very well the beer is easy to drink.

A-Black in the glass, not much carbonation, one finger off white/brown head that doesn't last long.

S-Tad too sweet/sugary. Chocolate is there along with some roasted malt. Not much int he way of coffee.

T-Rather sweet and sugary. Almost like unfermented sugars are present. Chocolate makes its way through but roasted malt and coffee are lacking.

M-Lighter for the style, not much carbonation, tad watery as well.

O-The beer wasn't a mess but it just didn't come together like it should have.

Pours with a moderate viscosity, raising a deep tan head that quickly disappears, leaving no trace. The beer is almost utterly opaque, with the barest hint of brown translucency at its edges.

There's a markedly sweet nose to the beer, like a dark-fruit confection. The taste is faithful to the aroma; no surprises, and maybe a little disappointing in its lack of complexity. There's just enough of an alcohol bite and hint of bitterness, however, to keep the prospect of the next tip of the glass interesting.

In texture, Black Widow excels. It's a little heftier than expected on the palate--velvety, with just the right touch of carbonation belying its relatively dormant appearance. Overall, worthy of serving as an option in the cellar.

22 oz bomber courtesy of Suspect pours a black color with a modest brown head. Not much lacing or retention really, even with an aggressive pour.

Nose is sweet and roasty, black licorice and honey...I’m thinking a sticky dark molasses laden stout based on the nose.

Mmmm, I like how the graininess comes out, like a bowl of Cocoa Krispies with a generous layer of honey poured on top. Different from the usual roastiness and the bitterness is lacking for sure. It’s pretty one-dimensional, but that dimension is pretty tasty, albeit a tad sweet. I like it, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a touch more leafy greens and roasty malt to offset the fresh grainy sweetness.

thick black and very still body. not much carbonation to speak of, head settled quickly while leaving no lacing. taste and smell are of dark sweet fruits, a touch of roasted malts and a bunch of alochol. has a thick sticky syrup like body. the alochol warms the throat and belly. overall this reminds me of a flat plead the fifth. could use more carbonation and practice on hiding the alochol, a 8% beer shouldnt burn this much.

Bomber

Appearance - Dark brown colour with an average size frothy beige head. I can't make out the amount of carbonation showing and there is some good lacing. The head was gone in a flash.

Smell - Malts, chocolate, dark fruits

Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and the beer is somewhat watery. I can taste malts, coffee, chocolate, and some faint dark fruits. It ends with a chocolate malt aftertaste with a touch of smoke/burnt flavour.

Overall - The appearance and the mouthfeel really fell flat on this one. I expected more from an imperial stout. I wouldn't seek this one out again.
