L:
-pours a hazy golden with a small to medium,foamy,grey-ish head
-medium carbonation visible
S:
-butter,honey,floral,light grain,slight nettle,slight lemon,spicy,cardamom
T:
-dry arrival,grainy,slight grapefruit,honey,spicy,cream
-medium to high bitterniss for the style
F:
-medium to high carbonation
-light to medium body
O:
I liked this a lot.A lot of Kölsch yeast esters with herbal hops and elevated bitterniss compared to the filtered version.
I may have to give the regular Kölsch another try.

Pours a bright, clouded amber color with a huge, fluffy head.
Smells of wheat, and slighty sour straw, together with a note of toasty grains and bready toffee.
Drinks fairly easy with an intriguing balance and a well fitting, refresshing higher carbonation, which remains pleasant on the tongue.
Tastes of a nice, herbal hop quality, which gets perfectly complimented by a note of toffee and wet straw. Turns a tad mineralic during mid palate, with a surprising dryness during its finish, highlighting the hop presence from start till the end.
This is lovely, a very well brewed Kölsch interpretation, with a bready, dry interplay I haven‘t yet encountered in a beer like this.

.5L swing-top, best before April 2011.
Hellers Wiess is brewed exactly the same as Hellers Kölsch, except that it is not filtered and therefore bottled "naturtrüb."
Pours a rich golden color with tiny particles of sediment floating around. The head is white and creamy, with good lacing and retention.
The aroma is interesting, with bready, yeasty notes combining with a grassy, citrusy hop character.
The flavor is surprisingly bitter for Kölsch, with earthy and grassy hop notes. The malts are mainly cracker-like, with a hint of butteriness. Some yeasty, estery things going on as well; could be a bit cleaner. The mouthfeel is very soft and effervescent, and the drinkability is very good due to the lightness and low ABV.
The Wiess is a decent Kölsch that is slightly more bitter than the standard Hellers Kölsch, which I think I enjoyed more since it was more balanced.
