yet another pale euro lager for my drinking and reviewing pleasure! this one comes to you from croatia, and is far better ina bottle than a can, although green glass makes a few bad apples in the lot. pours crystal clear golden color with a small white head that pulls a quick disappearing act. smells a little skunky, but behind that is some uninteresting malt and a touch of sweetness that is even more noticeable in the flavor. it has less body than its domestic rival karlovacko, and is less filling for that reason. it also has a sort of creamy feel to it which i quite enjoy amidst its higher than average carbonation and quick finish. my beer of choice on the croatian coast, but thats not saying a whole lot.

Very light looking with streams of bubbles rising to the surface as the beer settles. A golden straw colour with a small, bone-white and bubbly head at the top that is more a thin lacing than anything else although retention isn't ok.
Very light smelling and quite sweet with some corn, grain and skunk aromas along with maybe some vegetable adjuncts too. There is a little bread and a light floral to citrus smell right at the end.
Some corn and various adjuncts along with some sweetness and minimal grain. There is a background floral hop taste and a mildly bitter finish.
Light on the palate, bordering on thin and watery but with huge amounts of carbonation, far too much in my opinion. There was a sweet feel to it and a gas-filled one as well.
Available everywhere in Croatia but pretty poor when it comes down to taste. Not really that enjoyable a beer although I sadly found myself drinking it time and again due to it's readily available nature.

(from a hollow-stemmed chalice)
Ožujsko Pivo
Appearance: Zagrebaèka Pivovara's Ožujsko Pivo pours a golden chartreuse, with a small head that, after dissipating, leaves a thin white cap.
Smell: The beer smells quite fresh, with a light floral hint. It's also quite yeasty, bready, and quite skunky.
Taste: I'm struggling to taste anything before the carbonation kicks in. I can taste the hops, and that's it.
Mouthfeel: The carbonation hits the tongue almost immediately, and gives a dry finish to the beer.
Overall: The fresh smell gave a hint of promise, but the beer tastes of nothing. One shouldn't expect much from this style, but this was crap.

500mL can poured into a glass
Pours a bright clear straw colour with a head that recedes quickly but leaves lace here and there.
Smells of earthy grains, hay, grass, and some sweet malt floating around in the background.
Pretty basic flavour but sometimes that's all a guy wants. Taste follows the nose. Slight hint of alcohol. Hops go almost unnoticed. Very light and refreshing.
Moderate carbonation, goes down nice and smooth.
This is hot summer day material. Not bad!

A: Poured from a 0.5 L bottle into a pilsner glass. Clear, golden yellow with almost no persistent head.
S: Unpleasant old-barrel or stale smell.
T: Not a fine one, leaves really bad aftertaste. Readily gives heartburn.
M: Too carbonated at the start, but very soon becomes dull and unrecognizable.
O: A beer to avoid. Drinkable only extremely chilled, when critically thirsty.

Gift from the Inlaws from when they visitid Krk this summer. This is the beer the local drank a lot of...
A: Pours clear golden with a whiped cream-like white head that slowly sinks into nice lacings.
S: Rather grainy. Sweet bready malt and a linger bitterness in the back. Traces of corn.
T: Grainy bready sweet malt with both corn and ripe banans (is there also some wheat in it?). Bitter hops.
M: Smooth, almost buttery/creamy. Body is medium and carbonation moderate.
O: Usually, the beers you bring home from your summer holiday doesn't taste nearly as nice as they did on the beach. Since it was the inlaws who brought it I can't compare with the "on-location-taste" but this wasn't bad!

Listed as 5.0% on the can.
Looks nice for the style. Pours a slightly pale golden colour with a finger of frothy white head that leaves moderate lace and settles as a collar.
Unsurprisingly smells like corn. It does have a decent grainy tone underneath, but its overpowered by sweetness. Very typical, but no can or skunky smell.
Fairly dry taste, lots of grain and malt with an earthy undertone. Slightly sweet on the tongue.
On the thin side, but very drinkable. Carbonation is heavy at first before settling to a moderate level. A bit sour on the back end.
A truly unremarkable beer that I don't see any reason to try again. At least it wasn't gross.

Appearance i am not that impress, golden color, carbonated at the beginning, but after few minutes,it left only few bubbles. Same is with foam, which is not that surprising with EPL.
Smell; well, there is very weak smell,i almost couldn't smell anything.
Taste is very good, sweet with grains aroma.
Mouthfeel - Light body,finishing a bit watery,but very refreshing.
All in all,very nice lager

I must admit I've never had Croatian beer, and a 500 mL can of this caught my eye at the store. It pours a golden yellow color topped with a puffy white head that vanishes to lacing over a few minutes. A few bubbles stream to the top of the glass, but they're pretty sparse. It looks fairly appealing. The smell is a little bland, at first I was going to give this a very low rating but a faint hint of hay at least makes the smell somewhat notable, and appropriate for the style.
On the tongue all I can really taste is carbonation. Despite the lack of bubbles, the carbonation is high and a little biting like you might expect from a euro lager, so I guess appearances can be deceiving. The flavour isn't anything exciting, sweet grains and corn overshadowed at the end by some astringent hoppiness. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, and I've gotta say, the bitter finish is a good way to encourage me to sip the drink. Very high drinkability.
In the end, Ozujsko Pivo is a good brew, but nothing to write home about. I would never turn one of these down, but I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to buy it again. I can see this being a very refreshing lawnmower beer.

I drank a lot of these while I was visiting Croatia, and I was really excited to find them at a local liquor store. I don't remember loving this beer, but I did love Croatia. Let's see how it goes:
Pours a golden straw colour. Pretty standard. Not much head and lots of carbonation.
Smell is slightly grainy. Not much else in there.
Taste is surprisingly full and refreshing! Starts out sweet with some nice maltiness that fills the mouth. The carbonation is pretty intense at the beginning. It moves towards a slightly sour ending (mostly from the carbonation) with a little bitterness.
Overall this is a solid if fairly average brew. I don't know if I'd buy it again simply because of the price, but in Croatia it's cheap and satisfying after a hot summer day.

500ml Can
Appearance - Clear pale gold/yellow colour with a large size fizzy white coloured head. There is a below average amount of carbonation showing and there is just a fair amount of lacing. The head lasted for around five minutes before it was gone.
Smell - Grains/bread, corn, metallic
Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation. I can taste bread/grains mixed with light hops and corn. There is also some metallic flavour and a little bit of wheat/cloves. It finishes with a grainy aftertaste with a light spiciness.
Overall - Well, it wasn't undrinkable.. but it definitely wasn't something I'd buy again. It did have a fairly nice appearance in the glass for whatever that's worth.
