I've been going to this location almost since it opened. The place is quite popular, waits of an hour on Friday and Saturday night are not unheard of. But, when you can temper that wait with one of 70+ drafts and your choice of sporting event on their numerous big-screen TVs over the bar, it's worth the wait.
The food is somewhat standard pub fare, but with some local flair thrown in. I have a tendency to hit the same few entree's over and over ... the fish and chips (with garlic fries), fish tacos and the buffalo chicken sandwich are my go-to items.
For apps, my family loves the warm, soft pretzels with spicy queso and mustard sauces.
But, no discussion of Tyler's is complete without mentioning the beer selection. This IS Beer Advocate after all. There's always a solid 2-pages (15-20 beers) of rotating/seasonal beers. They will often have a brewery of the month, with special draft and bottle offerings. They'll also pull in some hard to find stuff ... the last *wow* I remember was Devil Dancer this summer.
The wait staff is typically well versed in their beer selection and often will tell us if there is something special not listed on the ever-changing menu.
I don't know what more I can say about this place. If you are in the area and don't pay them a visit ... well, that's your loss.

First and only Tyler's Taproom I've been to.
A - Decent atmosphere, feels a little more like a chain that I would like but thats me looking for a criticism. I definitely enjoy my rare visits here. Favorite place to go when visiting the future in-laws. I do love how the dining area has a bar and the billiards area has its own bar. Tons of TVs for sporting events too.
Q - quality always confuses me, I feel like the other categories are quality of atmosphere, quality of service, quality of selection, etc. Is this overall? Overall I definitely endorse Tyler's Taproom!
S - Service is great, I've never had my mind blown but I've always been very satisfied, most servers seem to know a decent bit about most beers, definitely not all beer geeks though - seems like Tyler's may encourage patrons to taste/try multiple beers. Limited knowledge about many beers in general. Prompt friendly service overall.
S - Selection is fantastic - most taps I've ever witnessed at a bar and they have tons of goodies from local duck-rabbits and olde hickorys to ballast points and staples such as multiple founders, victory, dogfish, etc (and not just the year rounds).
F - Fantastic mac n cheese, really enjoy the nachos and the buffalo chicken wrap (which I'm a HUGE sucker for) did not disappoint. I havent had anything less than a 7 out of 10 in my opinion. The menu is huge too!
V - No great deals that I recall but in no way a ripoff. Most of the menu is under $12 and fantastic beers are mostly between $6-8 (maybe less). It's appropriately priced in my opinion!

A hop heads review....
Let me great straight to the point. Tyler's rocks! This place has an amazing tap list. Sculpin was actually on a regular tap (the opposite of rotating, whatver the correct term is for that) for a while. Not last night though so the well must have run dry. Other regulars include Racer 5, Hopsecutioner, Two Hearted, plus some NC beers though I reckon these are a bit ordinary.
There is always something special, too. Last night it was Palate Wrecker and Avery IPA. They are tapping Hopslam tonight.
See what I mean? The only thing better would be if they had topless women and free weed!
Food? Do you really care? Places like Tyler's just aren't that common. Check it out!

I went to Tyler's Taproom mostly for the beer, but was impressed by the quality of food I received. However, the point of this review was to highlight the outstanding beer selection offered. As reviewed previously, there's not quite the selection of NC brews, at least not as many as you would expect being that the place is located in North Carolina. However, their overall selection is pretty solid.
I also appreciated the knowledge that our server had on beers. I explained what I was looking for, and he was able to make a few suggestions and help me narrow down my choice to one. Ultimately, we ended up deciding on Founder's Breakfast Stout, which obviously was a fantastic choice.
Food wise, their Brewer's Chili was phenomenal. While the prices are about average for this area, I still find them a bit on the pricey side -- but not unreasonably so, and I will definitely return in the near future.

Just off 64 in the Beaver Creek Commons area. Located in the back 40 section, though, near the movie theater.
Two bars, dining room bar that tends to be more crowded and a bit more formal vs the back room bar that is a bit more laid back. The tap selection is almost the same between the two bars, but check both as there can be a few differences between the two.
Nice tv coverage in the back if you are looking for a game. A couple of pool tables, too. Modest outdoor section, well covered but next to the parking lot.
Good, attentive service every time I've been in - even when crowded. Great selection of taps, with a few hard to find offerings. Not a great selection of NC taps, though, if that's what you are looking for.
Menu is varied and usually appeals to all that I bring in. Even the kids.
One of the Tyler's locations should be a must stop if passing through the Triangle.

Get good directions if you visiting, it can be somewhat tricky to find as its in the back of a collection of stores and whatnot.
As usual with a Tyler's, the atmosphere is really good. Theres a few tvs around, but not too many allowing you to watch a game if thats what you want. Bar area is pretty nice, except in my opinion its a little small, and gets pretty crowded too quickly.
The bartenders at Tyler's always know what theyre talking about. Granted, I went on International Stout Day, but even their other taps were pretty good (Two-Hearted, Smutty IPA, and like always Nc beers from Triangle, Mother Earth, and Duckrabbit). They do have a keg of Backwoods Bastard waiting to be tapped after their FBS keg is done. Both of which are rare in NC.
The food is good, i really like the chili personally, but It seems to be just decent bar food without anything exceptional aside from the chili.
A pour of FBS was only 5 dollars along with nothing more than 8 dollars including Mikkeller beer geek breakfast and Emelisse.
The best Tyler's so far between here, durham and carrboro.

my goto bar.
always have a good beer selection. for the beer menu, there is 2 pages of a rotating brews, seasonals..., then several pages of styles that generally stays constant, a page for local NC brews, and some pages for non-tap brews.
the beer is served in the proper glassware for the style in the glass from the brewery. (if you show up on monday nights, buy the featured beer and you can bring home the glassware)
the food is good, much better than most bars, but not spectacular. the beer selection makes up for anything lacking (more variety than quality) on the food side. they could serve deep-fried finger food and i would be happy cause of the beer selection.
and best of all, the entire place is smokefree.

This place is awesome. The location lacks charm but that is about its only downfall.
Large open interior with a bar with tvs, lots of breweriana all over. Very new looking inside and they also have a little outside area to sit in. Non-smoking as of May 11th as well.
Quality is pretty impressive, they have glassware for almost all of their beers...which is 80 on draught. The taplist is awesome! Standouts when I was there last night were:
Duck Rabbit Milk Stout and Paul's Day Off
Bear Republic Double Racer dIPA
Brooklyn Old Blunderbuss
they also had bottles of KBS
Just an awesome tap selection and the beer menu is done extremely tastefully. Its not cheesy at all and the clientele on a Saturday night is not a bunch of idiots pounding Bud Lites. Very nice place and the service was very good...although someone needs to explain what a Speakeasy is in historic terms to some of the waitstaff...
I didn't have any food but it looked like decent pubfare. Great beerbar, next time I am back in the R/D area I'll try and check out the other locations...

Down in Cary for a business trip, and our host just took us here on hapenstance cause it's close to his house. Holy Crap - This place rules.
Atmosphere was classy w/out being snobby... high ceilings, dark wood, black leather benches, etc. No smoking that I noticed, but we were here during the dinner hours only.
Service was great - both our waitress, and others chipping in to make sure no one went thirsty or hungry. Only questionable part was my first order - the beer formerly known as Obamagang - waitress showed up with a tasting glass, claiming that "most customers haven't really liked it", so she "wanted to make sure I was ok with it"... I sort of appreciated the candor, but if I worked for Ommegang, I'd be pissed.
I was FLOORED by the number of high quality beers available on tap - several from Ommegang, Allagash, Green Flash, Victory, DF Head, Unibroue, the whole SN lineup... you get the picture.
One very noticeable thing I haven't seen before - every one of the 50-80+ drafts has it's own glass from the brewery - very cool. Even had a North Coast Red Seal, and Green Flash Hop Head Red Ale.
Food was solid - we just went nuts on their appetizer menu, so didn't really try entrees other than fish tacos, but all was above average for bar fare.
Found the pricing to be particularly good - maybe it's just b/c I'm in NC, but to get top notch pints for all around $4-7, and good apps in the $7-10 range was solid.
Hit this place up if you're anywhere near Raleigh/ Cary.

Tyler's is the best tap room I've every had the privilege of enjoying. My friend and I counted over 80 different beers on tap as well as probably 30+ others in bottles. We had several different drafts and everything tasted fresh and crisp. The beer prices are a little bit higher than what you'd pay at your local bar but it's well worth it for the selection. You'll definitely find something worth drinking here. The food was casual dining fare but was excellent. I would highly recommend Tyler's Taproom and look forward to going back there soon!
