Very chill place with cool people as I went during happy hour and I wonder if this place is the start of some gentrification for this area of Philly or is a spot like this in a 'hood like this b/c the rent (of the owners bought the land, hell if I know) is cheap. What I do know is that the bartender was extremely friendly and talkative to us since we were out-of-towners and that I had already ate before coming here and was pissed. People's dinners were brought out past me everytime and man was that some good lookin' and smellin' food. But I didn't come here to eat (next time) - I came for the beer. The selection is not the most eclectic nor is the most, quantity wise, that one can find but they have a pretty good bottle list that stays towards the American side but gets its feet in some foreign waters and there were a couple bottles that I have not been able to find at other places. The taps are too few for my liking, but the tap selection when I was there was great and they rotate all the time so what I had last week has probably already been rotated out. A must stop for anyone visiting from out of town.

I don't live that far from the taproom. It has a comfortable and cozy feel to the bar for such a crappy neighborhood. The staff is highly knowledgeable about their beers, even if you are not. I was not in love with the food at all. Other people I know love their food I do not. Their pierogies were dry and over cooked. This place does have many good beers though.I had a Peche Mortel there and it was truly a great beer. The great part is that the Memphis Taproom has take-out at 20% off. Overall it is a good night out because the prices are reasonable.

Stopped into Memphis Taproom for brunch for the first time last weekend. A little smaller than I was expecting it to be but no big deal. Vibe was pretty good. Lots of people sitting around having breakfast and enjoying themselves. I really wanted to check out the beer garden but it wasn't open yet, I will check it out next time for sure.

Once we were seated in the back dining room we promptly ordered some breakfast and a few beers. I got the Red Rooster, it is essentially the typical breakfast stepped up a notch, and it was awesome. I had two beers while I was there, a Ballast Point Bourbon Barrel Sea Monster on cask and a Round Guys Berliner Weiss. The Ballast point was awesome, the round guys....not so much. I took a look at the bottle list and it was pretty impressive, also pretty expensive. Service was really good. Our server came to check on us multiple times throughout the meal, offering refills and getting us new beers. She even offered to replace my beer when it wasn't up to par but I decided to suffer through it.

Overall a really awesome bar that I will definitely return to in the future.

Awesome combination of quality beers and food. Their menu is fairly priced and well rounded. The smoked coconut club is great for a vegetarian or an omnivore looking to be adventurous and they have great appetizers that utilize beer. Personally my favorite meal is the Chicken Fried Chicken, however, that may change when I try the IPA Braised Chicken sandwich. And there is always something awesome on tap. The last time I was there they had Russian River Damnation and Blind Pig. One of the best spots in Philly. If I was recommending someone to try somewhere in Philly this would be the spot along with the Grey Lodge and Monk's Cafe.

I went to the Memphis Taproom the other day for lunch and we were not disappointed. The neighborhood is working class and the building is nondescript. Inside the building is rather narrow, but the bar has plenty of seating. We had a table in the back for lunch. They have about 10 taps, I had the DFH black and red. The taps were organized to help the beer or nonbeer geek out with some descriptions. Our server was very informative about both the beer and the menu selections. Lunch was great. For an appetizer we shared fried pickes, the taste better than they sound. My lunch was a roasted pork sandwich which was incredible. The prices were fair for the area. It is a little out of the way but it is worth the drive.

This place is my go to spot i love it here. And a review from me would not do it justice.

But i will try the staff is fantastic the food is very good never had a bad meal. The selection of beer is outstanding. The owner is very friendly and remembers you and will always makes it a point of saying hi how have you been. If you are in the area or heading down that way make it a point of stopping in i think you will enjoy it. They have cask beer also. In the spring and summer they have a beer garden that serves up can beers and hotdogs out of a hotdog truck parked right there.

I have been to the Memphis Taproom twice now. Once for dinner and a couple beers and the second time we just stopped by for a drink.

The entire building is narrow, making navigating the bar area difficult on busy days. The table area is a separate room and has a cozy feel to it. I had a burger and my buddy had a German dish. Both were very good. The fries were also spectacular.

They have about 10 taps, all of high quality. And their bottle list is to die for. They have varying vintages of some stouts and sours and pretty much everything you could be looking for. On my first visit, I was devoted to drinking the Hill Farmstead Abner on tap, for obvious reasons. Most recently, I had the Lost Abbey 10 Commandments.

They also have an outside seating area with a food truck and a large projection TV. I didn't get a chance to explore, but saw it when I was walking in/leaving.

This is a high value neighborhood bar. Very good food, excellent selection and friendly, knowledgeable service. This is a must visit if you are ever in the area.

Atmosphere-
I visited this establishment during Philly Beer Week, 2011. It was completely packed upon arrival, which was fine, considering the circumstances. Definitely a good vibe; a laid-back neighborhood feel with the obvious specialty in beer.

Quality-
Appropriate glassware was used for every beer. Draughts were poured at a nice temperature. And, of course, the quality of beer was impeccable.

Service-
Despite the fact that this bar was packed, and the fact that there was only one bartender to 40-some-odd patrons, the service was fantastic. Once the crowd thinned-out into the night, the bartender even came out from behind the bar to pour bottles for us tableside.

Selection-
Not a great number of taps, but the selection available on those taps was incredible... and the bottle list, while also not very lengthy, was just PACKED with gems. Arguably the best selection in Philly.

Value-
A bit pricey, but the service and selection make it worth the while- most definitely.

After the wife and I took a tour of PBC. We went down the block to this little place.

I must say I don't usually like the city type bars as they seem to be all the same but this just had an overall great feel about it. We were inspired to come here after after Guy Fieri's show Diners, drive ins and dives. This is a fantastic little bar with a great tap selection and tremendous food to match. The best yet I have been to in Philadelphia. Yes the service is a bit lacking even on a Saturday afternoon but it certainly makes up for the wait. I ended up having Cantillon Gueze, while the wife had a hairey eyeball.

A bit much in price I have seen certain bottles of beer half the price that I have bought here but still all and all a tremendous must visit bar when you are in the area.

Memphis Tap Room is a true gem in a city filled with great beer bars and restaurants.

The taplist isn't huge (10 regular taps, one cask - everything is always rotating), but there are always some interesting options. Bottle list includes some great vintage stuff as well as some current favorites. They lean towards Belgian beers with bottles and have a good mix of American craft and good imports for draft.

The reasonably priced food (most expensive entree was $15) is what makes it an overall destination. When done right, fried pickles can be amazing, and the fried pickles at Memphis are the best I've ever had. The pork sandwich, tofu club and fries were also extremely good.

The indoor space is not large, so you will likely wait a while on most nights, but the bar will hold you over and it is well worth the wait.
