poured from the inside portion of the half inside half outside bar they have set up this beer is a clear golden color with an off white head that slowly recedes to lacing. the aroma is a nice mixture of hops some pineyness and some floral contributions as well. the taste has some definite piney hops up front combined with the crystal malt, and the dry finish it's a tasty beer and as with most IPA's i'd drink a few of them.

A - The beer poured a darker shade of amber with a nice hazy to it...there was a two finger, white head that formed...it stuck around for a little and finally became a wispy head...nice lacing

S - Hops are very present in the nose...they are citrusy and piney...there is a nice malt backbone

T - The flavors are a half step down from the nose...again the hops are present on the palate...they are juicy and bitter but there's something to them that makes me get almost an Enligsh flavor from them...the caramel malts provide the backbone to cut the bitterness but it's not overpowering...the finish is long and bitter

M - Medium bodied...good carbonation makes it smooth...long lasting bitterness

D - This IPA was balanced in the middle and left you with a pleasant bitterness...it was easy to drink but those flashes of an English IPA kind of threw me off...I would like to try more from these guys

A 650 mL bomber purchased at the Three Brothers compound in Geneva, NY during a Finger Lakes brewery excursion.

A: The IPA is a darker amber color, still translucent but with more of a vernal glow. A head of nearly two fingers resulted in thin patches of lace all around the glass.

S: The nose is citrusy and concentrated, a resiny blast of hops sitting on top of caramel malts. I also smell a dash of cinnamon, an unusual element to waft out of an IPA.

T: Plenty of caramel malts set the stage for the IPA's strong hoppiness. That hoppiness is citrusy, grapefruit through and through. When I had this ale on tap at the brewery, I was blown away by the fresh hop aroma and taste. It's not as strong here but it still delivers a wallop. A syrupy, oily hop flavor lingers long after each sip is gone.

M: The mouthfeel is hoppy, bitter in an unconventional way. The bitterness is more syrupy, gradually bringing the bitterness to the forefront.

D: I've taken my time with the bomber and enjoyed its evolution. It's not nearly as impressive as when served on tap though, so a visit to Geneva is necessary to really appreciate the IPA.

Picked up a growler while visiting the Finger Lakes region last weekend. This is the last of the six growlers from various upstate NY breweries that I brought home with me.

A - Pours a nice copper red. A good 1 - 2 finger head dissipates to leave a nice lacing around the top of the glass.

S - Fresh Hops. Probably English, they are quite bitter.

T - The bitterness of the hops is a little off putting. I seem to remember it tasting a little differently when I tasted at the brewery but it was also at the end of a long day of brewery winery tours so you know how that goes.

D - Seems to get flat really quickly but this could be the product of the week old growler that I am drinking it out of.

M - A little thin. This is a decent representation of the style. I was surprised to find stuff like this during our trip so I guess I can't complain too loudly. I'd drink it again if I ever find myself in the Finger Lake region.

A nice, rocky, off-white head pushes up over a gem-clear, copper-amber beer with clean carbonation. The head lingers, leaving a fine lace on the pint glass.

A strong sense of orange citrus with fragrant pine makes for a simple, yet elegant aroma.

The bitterness is considerably less prevalent than the sample flavors from the tap, but this offering still has the acid and typical IPA hops. Some notes of green tea linger in the finish.

CB offers a medium-bodied, lightly carbonated, dry IPA with some metallic notes and astringency.

While not quite a session beer, one can easily have a few to quench ones thirst with a group of friends or family.

The beer pours a gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a solid pale and Carapils malt scent along with a stiff hoppy aroma. The taste is good as well. It has a smooth pale malt flavor that is complimented well with nice selection of hops. It's balanced with a crisp, clean finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This beer is well representative of the style much like the other beers they have. It's not the best around, but it's quite enjoyable. Recommended!

An owner let my friends and me tent out in his yard on a bicycle trip through upstate New York. We woke up and it was the morning of the Grand Opening of the Barley Yards Brewing Company (part of a collection of Vineyards). Tasted all their offerings on tap and bought a growler of this and the Black Lager.

Strong aromas. I could smell the hops. Equally rewarded in taste. Crisp and strong but not overbearing or squint-eye bitter.

Drinkable as a most IPAs can get.

Great bunch of guys up there. Check them out if you are upstate.

Had this on tap at Barley Yards.

Appearance is a clear and clean copper brown. Head is thin, but fluffy and white.

Smells of hop and malt.

Taste is solid and refreshing, very hoppy, alot of earthen notes, and a very mild sweet malt finish.

Mouthfeel is pretty carbonated, goes well with the beer and style.

Drinkability is good. One of the few microbrewery beers in the area of this style that I'd consistently buy. Try it out.
