A - Poured into mug. Pours straw golden with a finger of head on top.
S - Light floral, malt and some citrus scents.
T - Citrus, lemon peel, grassy, hop flavors very subdued but present.
M - Light bodied.
O - This is an extremely easy to drink IPA due to its low alcohol content and overall low bitterness. This would be a good choice for a pale ale or lager drinker looking for an IPA before trying a more intense version.

Finding a new San Diego IPA is a cause for great excitement since this town is a hop-heavy West Coast IPA mecca of sorts. Sadly, this is by far my least favorite IPA of San Diego. I'm not really sure if this truly is an IPA. Big bready head, low ABV, flat mouth feel, and bleh overall taste. Disappointing.

A - Bright, slightly hazy copper, near white, small head. Some spotty cling lace.
S - Smells like a rich lager. Some grass, hint of biscuity malt and bittering hops.
T - Malty lager. Yep. A little more hoppy, true, but certainly not what I think of in an IPA.
M - Good balance for what is there.
D - Low abv and very easy to drink.

A sharp lager with a good dose of hops. Seems to stick to the English style. Bitterness is distinct but within the bounds of drinkability. Thin body with a dry finish that stops short of astringency. A touch of toast and grain. Faintest hint of fruit but no trace of malty sweetness. Easier to define what it's not! It's NOT a big American IPA, and it does have it's own modest charms.
Attractive amber in the glass with nice lacing. Pleasant and drinkable bitter beer. Label says 5.1% ABV on the current batch.

A: Pale golden color with a fluffy white head that has good retention. Looks like a good beer should.
S: Pale malts and a little bit of honey.
T: I don't know, this is labeled an IPA, but tastes much more like a lager. There is a touch of honey and a little lemon and citrus, followed by a sort of grassy hop bite. There's not enough of a hop presence to really call this an IPA though, at least for me.

On-tap at 5 Points
A: The pour comes out a fairly clear golden color with a nice fluffy white head on it.
S: The hops are quite grassy and herbal, which was unexpected. A fair amount of malt, which is bready in nature, like you might expect in an English IPA.
T: There is a decent bitterness to the flavor along with grassy and earthy hop notes. The biscuit/bread malt flavor is there as well, along with just a hint of citrus.
M: The body is medium with a fairly crisp carbonation that leaves this beer feeling decently refreshing.
D: I'm partial to American IPAs, and even for an English IPA this missed the mark a bit for me. I'm fine with the malt balance, but the hop flavors were slightly off.

A yellow beer, wasn't jumping out. Appeared flat. Like a stale blonde ale that was casked, and then kegged. Aroma was not attractive.
Sadly, it tasted like the impression the appearance left on me. Just didn't enjoy this, seemed to be lacking everything, and I mean everything that an ipa should be. This wasn't "new" English, it had more in common with Olde English. . .

On tap at Callahan's, San Diego.
Pours a clear golden orange color with a minimal white head. Has a very light aroma of hops and oranges. Similar taste with a bit of malt in the finish. Very light flavor overall, and light- to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. A decent, but not particuarly memorable, IPA.

Tap @ Pizza Port Solana. Poured clear yellow-gold with a bubbly white head. Moderate lacing. Grassy hops, grainy malt, and biscuits in the nose. Bitter Goldings hit you throughout, giving the beer a clean, peppery bite. Lagery flavors and unripe citrus accompany this, making it sweet towards the back. Tastes like a Bridgeport IPA, but watery.

Pours a hazy golden into a pint glass with a bubbly half inch of head. Head thins out quickly and offers some random lacing on the glass.
Mostly malts on the nose with a touch of citrus and earthy hops. Taste follows suit with a malty and somewhat buttery lingering finish. Not as clean on the palate as many British versions of the style, yet that works for me as it improves the feel a bit. Drinkability is good but limited in the end by a rather dry finish.
