My inlaws and I went here while we were on vacation in Seattle.

You enter from the street and walk down a long flight of stairs. The area is a vast dimly-lit bar with booths surrounding the outer edges. Lots of big screen TVs showing sports. The bar is very long and there were tons of tap - something like 80 different beers on tap. Unfortunately nothing really exceptional but I say that from a beernerds perspective. There were lots of good choices but I would say the most impressive selection was Old Rasputin.

We sat at a booth and I asked about the NW sampler. The guy told me: "a blonde, a red, an IPA, and a dark beer." So not much info there. I would have at least expected him to know the brewery that each one came from. The nice thing was that they were all from smaller, lesser-known breweries that I had not seen or heard of before so I was happy with that.

The meal was very good and reasonably priced - fish and chips - some of the best I've had in a while. In fact, everyone seemed happy with their meal and it was all reasonably priced.

Overall not bad but probably not a real destination. A good place for a beer lover who doesn't mind having some good (not extraodinary) beers.

A-It is a big space, but it is downstairs, no natural light, cavish. Sports on TVs, downtown professionals, slow in afternoon, busy at night, 9 ft pool tables

Q-food is okay, beer has never been an issue (160 taps), but it has made me wonder when I don't enjoy something new- is it because it is sitting or do I just not like the beer?

S-Staff is usually knowledgeable, usually attentive, but sometimes a little understaffed, beers on menu are often out

S- Who couldn't get selection right w/160 taps?! But they do better than average, almost all craft beers. Ruination on permanently when they don't run out, Russian River, Avery, Bear Repub, HUB, you get the picture.

F-adequate, uninspired

V-prices vary, pints$6-7, tulips the same, food can get pricey, but happy hour has some good value like sushi rolls, wings

160 taps, it's a lot. That said a lot are fairly easy to find anywhere so there are only a handful to write home about, the first two iasked for were sold out but still on the menu, a bit disappointing but what can you do. They had damnation on the menu so that's always good.

Atmosphere is decent, baseball games on TV, decent music at a decent level, the bar is huge and its quite busy but no wait on a weekday evening. The bar seemed a bit under staffed so super wasn't super fast but the girl seemed pretty up to speed with what was on tap.

I visited the Tap House during a conference in April 2011.

The atmosphere is very nice and would be expected in a fine restaurant in downtown Seattle. The food was pretty good, but it was better on the late night happy hour menu...cheaper. The tap selection is something like 160....ridiculous! They had all kinds of fantastic PNW brews as well as other domestics. Needless to say, I wasn't able drink past the PNW selections. They had fresh batches of Avery Maharaja and Dugana and many, man, many others.

The only gripe was the price, but it was to be expected in downtown Seattle.

After many visits to the Bellevue Tap House, I decided to check out the Seattle location when I was downtown the other day.

Pros:

1. Good selection of beers, usually served in the proper glassware.

Cons:

1. Lousy, expensive food.
2. SLOOOOW service.
3. Several listed beers not available...I had to go to my 4th choice before finding something to drink.

The tap list is impressive, but don't get too excited until you see it sitting before you and skip the food.

You can do better in downtown Seattle...try the Collins Pub for a treat.

After a long drive from Whistler back to Seattle for my flight home, I dropped in here since it was a 1.5 block walk from my hotel. I had been intending to go back to Brouwers but was not in the mood for the crowd and the cab ride. Or so I thought until I spent some time here.

Atmosphere was not to my liking. Overly bright and drab, with a rather sparse crowd for a Friday night (I guess it's in the business district). No energy at all.

The tap list is sure lengthy. I would not have guessed 160 taps as listed on the BA page for this place but it's sure a hell of a lot. Huge selection in any case with craft beers from the area, the region and nation and some good Belgians. The sheer number of taps made me wonder about freshness so I went with one of the taps from the seasonal insert. Perfectly nice, served in the proper glass, reasonably priced. After five minutes, I reconsidered my decision, fired down my beer and caught a cab up to Brouwers. Glad I did.

stumbled onto this gem by accident while spending a few days on vacation.. besides the basement feel going down flights of stairs its a wide open place with a long and winding bar..I can see where this could be a disadvantage but our bartender stayed to near us the whole time.. The choices were so many it actually made it hard to choose.. We stayed late and got to experience the drop in food and beer prices of a late night menu...overall if youre in town and have a few night, dont miss out on this place

Great for beer, decent for food.

Visiting from out of town for a conference, hotel a block or two away from Tap House. Wandered in, amazed by vast selection of beers on tap. Great server, very helpful, she knew about most of their beer selection. When she did not know she did not BS me, she went and looked up the information needed. Very nice!

Food better than average pub fare. However, a bit expensive and not as good or extensive as their beer selection.

Can be hectic during busy times, but still good service. I'd go back again. And again...

The Tap House Grill is located about a block from the hotel I stayed at when I recently visited Seattle. Its in kind of a corporate neighborhood directly across the street from a high end steak house.

The biggest problem I have with this place is it is all sub-terranean and I generally prefer an establishment that has wiindows that you can look out through. So while the decor inside is kind of pleasing to look at , its just a real shame that it is all in the basement of a building.

We managed to get in here right before happy hour (3:30-6:30) ended so they had some fantastic pricing on some of the food items which we tried- sushi rolls and some jerk chicken wings. Both were decent and hit the spot but we were hungry at the time and these items were far from the best of their type that I have tried. I dont remember if the beer prices were discounted due to happy hour but they sure had a fantastic selection of beers. I got an Elysian IPA and a Georgetown pilsener, neither of which I had tried before. Both beers tasted fresh and were served in pint glasses.

The service was kind of bad at first but got better once I just started to kind of speak up and not wait for someone to come over and ask me if I wanted anything.

The other thing that I didnt really like about this place was some of the clientele were just a bunch of corporate types who were clueless about beer and just kind of had bad manners. They were blocking the path for servers to pass through and talking so loud as if everyone wanted to hear what they had to say. Maybe it might be a different vibe on a weekend or later in the evening and I would be willing to give it another try if I were in the neighborhood again but I cant say that Tap House is really worth seeking out in a town where huge craft beer selections seem to be the norm rather than the exception.

I dropped by in the middle of a heatwave, so was pleased to see Southern Tier Unearthly on tap. I was not as pleased to see that their menu didn't list volumes or prices.

I ordered anyway, figuring that youth is the time be to reckless. The bartender treated me and my sister with disinterest, the sports confrontation on the TV being more diverting. Or maybe just didn't want to face the stark concrete interior of the bar, which was empty but for us. Or be recognized through the glass wall separating the Tap House Grill from the community center meeting rooms and conference halls housed in the same industrial basement like building.

$6.75 is how much a thirteen ounce pour of ST Unearthly goes for. So much for the recklessness of youth. In my zest I even tipped on the water my sister ordered. I regret that to this day.
