I visited on March 26th, 2008, arriving about 7:00pm.
The physical place is long and narrower than wide. High ceilings painted black. Lots of rough-hewn wood, brick walls and Tiffany lamps give a bit of a retro theme, reflecting the era the building was constructed.
A well-stocked long bar sits against one wall. Four flatscreens hover above. Only two were showing sports during my visit. Mirrors on this wall help give the illusion that the place is wider than it is.
Parallel to the bar, a row of high tables and chairs divides the room where there was once a wall that divided this space into two seperate establishments.
Step down into the other half of the room for more traditional tables and chairs, or head to the back for an awesome "smokers patio" and a loungy, bean-bag chair kinda space tucked away by the restrooms.
Attractive waitresses complement the attractive, mostly young crowd. Some surfer types, a few military guys, some cougars. A good mixed crowd with a good vibe. Unfortunately, most of the folks here don't seem to have caught on yet to what an amazing beer place this is. I saw lots of water, wine, iced tea, soda, mixed drinks and bottled Pacifico Clara and Corona. Only a few patrons had beers that looked craft-y.
The music was turned up a little loud, but the joint was undeniably happening even on this weeknight.
The menu features mainly pizzas and salads with a few appetizers thrown in. I split an order of the twice-fried Belgian fries (second dip in hot oil is actually duck fat!) and they were super crispy and flavorful. The accompanying kethcup is tart and there's a sort of garlic pesto sauce as well. Yum!
The pizza wasn't quite as good, but I think they will get the hang of it soon. The crust was a bit overcooked and the whole pizza was a bit bland. They're still new, so give it some time.
The beer list is the best in Pensacola without a doubt. Draft highlights include Bell's Oberon, DFH 60 Minute, five different Sweetwater brews, Rogue Dead Guy, Oskar Blues Old Chub, Brooklyn Brown, Young's Double Chocolate Stout and Chimay. Bottles include many beers from Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Bells and many different Belgians brews.
If I lived in Pensacola, I'd live at Hopjacks. I might visit Brews Brothers and O'Zone Pizza for some variety, too, but this would be my home base.
And shout out to Melissa, the awesome manager who was doing her best to get free samples of craft beers to everyone who ordered a macro.

We visited here on a Saturday night and luckily got a seat at the bar right before the band setup and they started putting wristbands on people who came in. It quickly transformed from a pub/restaurant into a pub/nightclub. People were soon crowding the isles and leaning into us to get the bartenders attention. Despite the nightclub lightswitch they threw on us we were still able to get good service from our bartender and even order food. The food was pretty good. We had some beef, duck and chicken skewers, the duckfat fries and a chicken ceasar salad. Maybe would pass on the chicken in the chicken ceaser next time, kinda chewy. The beer selection was enormous and actually included some good stuff (Bells Hopslam!). No reason for a beer nerd not to go here if in town. Reminded me of the Taproom in San Marcos (TX) or a grungier Flying Saucer on a busy night.

About twice a year, I find myself near Pensacola, and I always HAVE to go to this place. On Sundays they have what is referred to as "Sucker Free Sunday". Every tap in the place...all 112 of them...half off. It's unbelievable. And the prices aren't bad anyway. So twice a year, I get to drink things like $2 pints of Victory Hop Wallop, $2 snifters of Southern Tier Backburner...they even had 4oz pours of Dogfish Head 120 Minute.... You will probably never, ever find a better selection of draft beers. Nevermind the crazy low prices. They have a bunch of bottles too, but who cares when the draft offerings are so plentiful and affordable?
Food ranges from average to excellent. The pizzas are good. The Belgian fries and Black & Bleu salad are simply great.
It's not a fancy place, but it's nice enough. You could bring the family earlier in the night if you felt so inclined.
Service is a little hit or miss, but always better than adequate. You might wait a little bit for your beer if you're at a table, but the staff is always really friendly.
A crazy good beer bar.

First time in Pensacola so I looked up a few places to visit. Hopjack's seemed a good start. I rode 300 miles to get here so a good beer selection was required as was food.
Beer selection is great. 112 on draft and about 100 more in bottles. A very well rounded selection from Abita to Warsteiner. Barleywines to ciders to schwarzbiers. Oh yeah.
Outside seating is covered and open on the brick sidewalk, indoors is huge and open. Very inviting. The block of old buildings gives a nice vibe and plenty of shade.
I gave service a knock because I parked the motorcycle right in front and took a seat literally 5' away. 10 minutes later, having not been served yet, and after moving inside to try to rectify this, another party sat outside and was waited on quickly. So, having not been spoken to yet, I moved back outside and snagged the server. From then on the service was great. All this on a Monday mid afternoon.
Pizza choices are amazing looking (the jerk chicken looks especially awesome) and come in 6", 10" & 16". But I'm going with a blackened shrimp & pepper pita fold sandwich with a side of Belgian fries (pomme frites ) fried in duck fat! The roasted duck caeser salad sounds extremely good, as well. Food s delicious, the fries are not greasy and have a great flavor.
Draft beers are well priced, running from $2.50 for Yuengling to $7.75 for St. Bernardus Prior 8.
Alright, round two, two days later. Came back after work on a Wednesday about 7:15 pm.
The herb roasted duck pizza was really, really good. But...
Service officially sucks! Spent 20 minutes outside, after my companion ordered a beer at the bar, and not a single server checked on us. The waitresses hadn't cleared the empty glasses or asked about the still non-drinking person and finally took a beer order after I waved her down. Apparently the bartender doesn't play well with others and wouldn't fill the order. So we moved inside, cashed out the tab from the bar and started a new one at a table. WTF! From this point on, things were good but I had been here nearly half an hour at this point.

Simply outstanding. Great beer selection along with world class service. We tried several different beers - most at the recommendation of Nathan our server or the bartender. They never steered us wrong.
We had the Belgian Fries for an appetizer and they were fan-friggin-tastic. The made to order supreme pizza was tremendous. Although, highly recommend you bring your appetite if you order the large.
Only reason I dinged the atmosphere was due to the A/C not working - it was brutally hot in the place. Nathan reassured us they are working hard to fix. We are DEFINITELY planning a return trip. I've been drinking beer for 41 years and this rates as one of the finest watering holes I've set foot in.

Happened upon the establishment while on business and was giddy over their wall of taps. And such a wonderful, creative variety; stouts, IPAs, local favorites and brews from PA and NY. Kid in a candy shop. I had my first run-ins with favorites Hop Wallop and Creme Brulee stout here and they immediately got my respect when I spotted Old Rasputin on tap. The staff was very in-touch with their product and generous with samples. They shared stories about getting taps mixed up from time to time. A couple of the regulars were a little pushy toward a yankee outsider like myself, but I had a drunken blast here.

What can I possibly say that hasn't already been said about this place? It was awesome!
The wife and I went here for lunch while visiting Pensacola.
Beer selection was amazing and the waitress(Melissa) even brought me a bunch of samples to try. She knew her product and her recommendation was amazing also.
Food was great! My wife and I had their pita sandwich things and they were solid. The belgian fries in duck fat were great!
Overall experience was kick ass. When you are in Pensacola this place is a MUST go to!

Hopjacks definitely delivered for me. I loved the atmosphere in this place. We sat back, drank beer and watched college football. From the start, upon entering we were greeted by an awesome hostess/waitress (forgive me I forgot her name). She was very energetic and attentive to what we needed throughout our stay. The pizza we had was pretty delicious. But, lets be honest, I came for the 110 beers on tap. There is plenty of beer to suit everyone in your group from the piss drinker to the craft brew connoisseur.

110 beer taps, now come on, what is there to complain about?! As far as the beer selection there is absolutely nothing to complain about and I am amazed I have yet to have a stale beer with that many taps. Perhaps sucker free Sundays is why, all taps are 50% off on Sundays, all day! They also have a huge selection of bottled beers.
The food is okay, nothing special about their pizzas or sandwiches. The Belgian fries are delish though, french fries fried in duck fat, yummy.
It is a hip place and has done wonders in revitalizing the Downtown night scene. If you go on a Tuesday, Friday or Saturday expect huge crowds. They have live bands on the weekends and loud music all other times. Tuesday is $3 hollar night, most taps (not all) and most bottled beers (again not all) are only $3.
Great place to get a craft beer on draft but beware when it gets crowded, you may be "accidentally" overcharged and they seem to run out of glasses and you may get a world class beer in a plastic cup. BTW, one reason they run out of glasses is folks steal them :-( bad patrons...glasses cost only $2 if you want one.
Service depends on who is serving you, sometimes it's great, other times I wonder why I spend my hard earned money there because the attitude of the staff just stinks.
Again, go for the beer, not the food, and don't expect the bartenders to know a thing about the beers...not to stereotype since I am a woman, but most of the female bartenders know nothing about beer so don't bother to ask them.

Deep south's best option for quality craft beer selection! Plenty of hopslam on hand and a brand new keg of world wide stout tapped when we arrived! Great pub food and awesome wait staff that obviously takes pride in beer and service. Also have SA Infinium and The Bruery Coton on hand for you big spenders! Do not confuse Pensacola, FL location for the one in Mobile, AL. Although same owners, completely different selections and vibes. Pensacola: awesome. Mobile: blows goat. Hit it up next time you are in the area and make sure you have plenty of time on your hands.
