Poured from 22 oz bottle into chalice.
Pours a gold copper clean color...nice rich head. Rich head and lace remain till the end..beautiful.
Aroma of rich malts and herbal hops.
Significant carbonation and giant mouthfeel.
Flavors of piney hops, rich amber malts, white grapefruit rind, black pepper, pine sap, kick yer butt alcohol, damn near chalk bitterness balanced by an amazing creaminess, bitter fruit rind, a slight sweet background, hop flavors galore...lets give it 5 minutes...
OK...clear copper, small head, lovely floral bread aroma, rich flavors of tantalizing malts and floral hops, some bread crust, pepper, pine, citrus, bitter hops, freshly baked bread...nicely blended...gotta have another taste yummy! Not for ninnies :)
Damn...with this beer I enjoy the vibrant aroma slightly more than the flavor, but the flavor is very tasty...from a beer comparative and price point perspective, this beer rocks! The herbal floral bread sweet hot bun aroma stands out and remains till the last pour. There is a little funky melon remaining until the end also. For me rich and tasty, complex and intriguing, compelling...very nice.

A 22 ounce bottle from EgadBananas; thank you! Bottled on 12/17/2012, and poured into a DFH signature glass.

Pours a hazy tangerine color with dark copper hues. A nice, two-finger-wide, fluffy, pure-white head develops atop and leaves behind large quantities of lacing; large collections of bubbles continually coat the surface. A very good looking DIPA. Aroma is of spicy, earthen hops, some freshly cut grass and cultivated earth, pine resin, and orange and grapefruit citruses. Flavor starts with the hops, spicy at first before the earthen notes kick in. Pine, grass, and wet earth come through in the middle, and the grapefruit citrus finishes it up. The mouthfeel starts off lively, bitter, and well carbonated, but finishes somewhat watery and thin. Overall, this is a great DIPA that is very easy to drink. Great looking, good aroma, and solid flavor; well done!

Had this on 2013-01-05 in Columbia, PA

A - Lightly hazy yellow-orange with a 2.5-finger offwhite head and good lacing.

S - Big and bold. Pineapple, mango, cracker, pine, orange, light spice.

T - Pineapple, a light but noticeable malt flavor, which gives a nice balance. Orange, lots of resinous pine, spicy hop floral, a bit of alcohol. Nicely-balanced finish with orange zest, light sour dough, pineapple, white pepper.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Very prickly, resinous.

O - The flavors are very similar to their IPA but I like this one more. To me, it has better balance with enough fruity malt sweetness to reasonably tamp down the significant IBUs. In the IPA, the bitter finish was much more pronounced. Tasty stuff indeed.

Bomber poured into a hefe glass, 'cause that's what I had.

A: Slightly darker than golden, nice crisp clear beer with a pronounced white frothy head that dissipates pretty quickly but laces very nicely

S: Smells like your average IPA, piny, hoppy, with a little sweetness

T: Very nice. Has a definite hoppyiness to it without being overly bitter, has a nice sweetness to it without being cloying. Not the best IPA I've ever had, but def good, and a lot better than the normal Marble (Single) IPA.

M: Thin, with a decent carbonation fizz to it.

D: Easily drinkable, even for a higher ABV brew. Would be nice on a hot day. I expect it will go well with my spicy nachos I'm about to eat!

Thanks to GHB for filling my fridge with hops & as the guy who introduced me to Marble. The IPA was excellent; two-for-two? 22 oz. bomber split with my wife.

Pour is hale & healthy orange. Nose is a IIPA stick of dynamite. Grapefruit, lemon, citrus, none of it subtle, like the brewer threw an entire hop vine into the bottle. Tha's the wayz I like it, yo.

Marble IIPA not only looks orange, it tastes it, too. Taste opens with a nice splash of Sunny Delight, sweet orange beverage deluxe. Grapefruit, lemon, flowers complete the hop tastes before the bitter strangles all of them in their fruity cribs. Bitterness is at first faint beneath the malts & orange, but gains cruelty as the beer warms. Odd dash of tea, almost oxidized, right at the end, causes the enjoyment dipstick to show a slightly lower level.

All in all an enjoyable IIPA, but I'd take Marble's regular IPA any day. Good beer.

A - The beer pours a little over a finger of slightly orange/off-white head. The bubbles are good size in the middle and tiny on the sides. Head sticks around for a while. The body on this thing is super cloudy and mostly orange. Some brown in there as well. Strong lacing.

S - Smells pretty amazing. Some citra hops, malty backbone, and floral notes. Really a pretty typical DIPA aroma, but it is done very well and quite nice.

T - Again pretty typical. Good hop characters to balance out strong all around flavors. The finish is a little harsh and bitter. Pine, malt, and bread.

M - The feel is nice on the tongue. Good carbonation and body. Just a little mouth puckering bitterness.

O - Quite nice and everything you expect out of a DIPA. Could be a little more smooth on the flavors.

"Marble Double India Pale Ale". 8.0% ABV confirmed. 1 pint 6 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a nonical unbranded pint glass in me gaff in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado. Reviewed live. Expectations are average.

Served straight from the refrigerator. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

Beer surges out of the bottle immediately upon opening, indicating overcarbonation.

A: Pours a two finger head of beige colour, okay cream, nice thickness, and good retention considering the ABV. Colour is a hazy dull orange - like a bad hefeweizen. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Nontransparent. Non-opaque.

Sm: Floral hops, with hints of citrus - some orange but no real grapefruit. Cream. Clean malts. An average strength aroma. No alcohol or yeast come through.

T: Floral and citrus (orange alone) hop character. Clean malts. Hop bitterness emerges on the climax, indicating poor balance. There's little to counteract the hops. This is the problem with many American brewed IPAs: IPAs are not a dick-sizing competition to see who can use more hops; balance is critical. Too sweet and sugary in the third act. The malts were far from well selected. It's clean but not fresh or refreshing. Built wrong for the style. Neither complex nor subtle. It's structurally imbalanced as well, with flavour emerging spontaneously. No attention was given to the open or finish, and the body is a mess. There's little diversity in flavour here.

Mf: Smooth and wet, with some hop coarseness on the climax. Overcarbonated, but not quite to the point of sharpness. Too thick and heavy on the palate for the lack of justified flavour.

Dr: I'll down this bottle, but I won't like doing it. Double IPA fans will likely enjoy it, but I find it imbalanced and unworthy of a second purchase. The mouthfeel impedes the drinkability, as does the problematic flavour profile. I'll try Marble's other beers, but this is a letdown.

D+

I got a stomachache after half a glass of this beer.

A horrible candidate for aging.

Likely best on draught.

22oz bottle. Pours clear yellow gold with a big fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is tropical fruits and resiny piney hops.

The flavor is sweet caramel malts and tropical fruits with a big resiny piney floral hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery with low carbonation.

Overall, a solid DIPA.

A: Clear yellow-brown pour with at least 3 fingers of white head. The head laces a ton while receding and lasts a really long while.

S: Really piney and citrus aroma with a nice malty base. The dry, piney hops really shine through here. I think I'm getting a touch of booze, but nothing out of the ordinary. This has a really nice balance, and an inviting aroma overall.

T: The balance continues through the taste. A really nice piney, bitter taste combatted by the caramel maltiness. It has the hops of a big West Coast IPA, but makes it work with some malt balance as well. Really impressed.

MF: Medium body with a nice amount of carbonation. The sweet and bitter feud in the taste makes it quite drinkable.

O: I really liked this. Typically when I taste a ton of malt in an IPA I'm wondering what went wrong, but this is nothing but tasty. Do yourself a favor and try it!

This is a great DIPA. Sure there are more hoppy ones, more bitter. More abv. But this one is nice and unbalanced to a good degree.

Pours a light amber and gold color. Thick head rocked up and formed a center piece. Lacing is great.

Aroma smacked me in the schnauz as soon as I opened it. Citrus up front, pine in the back. Soft biscuit throughout. A bit sweet.

This beer tastes great. A very balanced profile between pine, citrus and resin. The malt backbone keeps it from being 'green vine-ish' with a touch of sweet biscuit. Some phenols here and there. I really like this beer. A 22oz bomber is going down faster than a Colfax "escort" on New Years

Bottled 3/9/2012.

Bomber served cold into a pint glass.

Marble's DIPA is a pale golden yellow color with great clarity. The head is thick and long-lasting and leaves some nice lacing as it settles.

Aroma is fresh and hoppy with some citrus, pine, and grapefruit.

Flavor is surprisingly bitter and a big alcohol heat. The malt is mild in flavor and light in color. This is clearly one of those beers that only has malt to have something there to ferment because it's all about the hops. Very big on the grapefruit.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Unfortunately, the alcohol burns like 10% even though it's only 8%.

Overall a decent DIPA but not one that I would get again.

a very manageable bomber of double ipa. pours a beautiful cloudy glowing sunny orange color with a 2 inch white head thats lasts awhile and a few rogue yeast floaters. smells like a good mix of pine forest sappy hops and that tropical pineapple passionfruit hops. also some english style pale malts backing it all up. flavor is similarly complex on the hop front, with a very earthy spruce tree type resin at first, being followed up by a sweeter and more tangy hop essence. it is not overwhelming though, and is actually on the lighter side of the big ipa spectrum in my opinion. feel is nice too, roughly medium bodied, but the resinous hops make it feel thicker. good carbonation lightens the feel up and the finish is wonderfully hoppy, without being bitter. overall another keeper from marble.

Poured from undated bomber to pint glass the beer pours a perfectly clear light honey color with a lot of active bubbles, a 1 finger white head, with good retention and gobs of lacing. The nose is hop forward with a resiny pine character, a hint of citrus sweetness, a malty background. Good. No alcohol detected. The flavor follows with a strong coat on the palette that lingers for a long while. Thick and chewy. The hop isn't as dominant as the nose let on, it hits with a resiny pine up front that quickly melts to a malty sweetness that lingers. Alcohol is more prevalent than the nose let on, but it's not too much. Medium bitter. Finishes chewy and thick. Well carbonated and medium bodied. Overall, this beer won't knock your socks off but it's not bad. I'd enjoy this more often if it continues to be available.

APPEARANCE: Orange and hazy, actually more opaque. There's really no way anyone can see through this beer. A strong, white head sits on top and lingers for quite some time. Lacing is fairly strong, particularly for a DIPA.

SMELL: Lemon actually leads the way in this one. The aroma begs the hop head to take a sip. A lot of citrus, a little pine and not much else.

TASTE: This is a damn good Double IPA. For a DIPA it certainly leans towards the more bitter side with a lot of lemon exposed to the palate, however, a strong dose of malt makes itself known rather quickly.

MOUTHFEEL: Light and very easy drinking. Creamy is not quite the word to be used here, but neither is sparkly or soda-y. Non-offensive may be the best way to view this CO brew.

OVERALL: I was quite impressed with the balance of this beer. It really is quite fantastic.

Picked it up at Trader Joe’s in Albuquerque, N.M. Poured from a bottle into a small glass (maybe eight ounces) that I had in the hotel room in Albuquerque, N.M. on April 20. About two fingers of head. Color was a hazier version of the regular IPA and more orangish. Cloudy, pillowy lacing on the top. Tons of film on the side of the glass. Wet, cobwebby.

Good-smelling beer. Got the citrus hope I was expecting, but it wasn’t overwhelming. Good balance of lemon, tangerine and grapefruit (but once again, not overpowering). Light smell of caramel. Bitter notes on the nose after awhile.

The taste certainly didn’t disappoint, In fact, it reminded me a bit of the Firestone Double Jack. Just a nice smooth taste of hops and caramel, carefully balancing each other out.

Medium-to-light body. Creamy finish. Average carbonation. Long-lasting, smooth finish, just a small note that it is strong.

Really, really enjoyed this beer. You’re going to get drunk, but you may not notice it right away. To me it still seems close to Firestone’s Double Jack. Just a good Double IPA.

Pours a clear copper color with a big, soapy white head that lingers and laces.

Smells of clean grapefuit and some citrus, some light vegetal quality also comes through.

Taste is up front grapefruit with just a hint of bready malt that goes into a more citrus, stone fruit middle before ending on a bitter, but not astringent, floral/grapefruit/citrus note. Not bad, but it doesn't jump out either.

Medium body with medium carbonation, the alcohol is balanced well.

This is a cascade, grapefruit bomb and a fine DIPA.

The smells are of pine and caramel. The feel is medium, taste is pretty good, a decent amount of bitterness and a sweet caramel backbone. Not bad.

Picked up at Jubilation in Albuquerque during thanksgiving.

Chill hazed light amber colored beer with a tall white colored head.

Smell is strongly hoppy with an additional floral scent. Mostly pine with some light honeysuckle and a bit of menthol. Little bit of wood and tea.

Starts out dry and bitter with a mild buttery flavor. Strong pine and tea flavors, this is fairly woody. Mild lemon flavor but mostly this is just woody and bitter.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall this is just OK. Bitter to near the point of annoyance, possibly I have an old bottle.

The beer is light orange hued and fairly hazy. The white head is about a finger's width, leaving some random traces of lacing upon the glass. The beer is hop forward, with a touch of alcohol. The beer smells stronger than the Marble IPA, with a bit less tropical fruit and citrus presence. This DIPA has more or a malt and hop balance, as opposed to the single IPA, which is more focused on the hop character. Medium bodied with some lingering bitterness in the finish. Overall, I preferred the Marble IPA to this. That said, this was a decent beer and I would have it again.

Pours a moderate orange-ish color with a good off-white head and some light lacing. The nose has some nice fruit elements along with a touch of pine. Citrus is probably dominant. Flavor has quite a bit too much malt for a double IPA and has a bit too much malty girth as well. Hops are nice in the background. Faintly bitter for the style. Decent enough, but too dark with too heavy a hand on the malt.

From 11/05/11 notes. Thanks to yourfragile for sharing this one. Consumed right after their Marble IPA. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a snifter.

a - Pours a hazy golden-orange color with one inch of fluffy white head and moderate carbonation evident. Slightly lighter in color than the normal IPA.

s - Smells citrus hops, grapefruit, fruity malts, light tropical fruits, and pine hops. Doesn't smell quite as hoppy and fresh as the IPA did, which is surprising, but it is good. Not as muich tropical fruit either, and more citrus.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, grapefruit, pine hops, fruity malts, and some nice bitterness. More pine hops than the normal IPA.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice bitter bite in the mouth.

o - Overall a nice DIPA. More bitterness and pine hops than the normal IPA, and less tropical fruits, so I prefer the normal Marble IPA, but still worth checking out and something I'd gladly have again.

Bomber into a Duvel tulip; bottled 7/15/11, enjoyed in early October and reviewed from notes. Big thanks to vonschplieffen for sharing.

A: Light amber body topped by an inch of frothy white foam. Good retention, light lace. I'm a fan of the light coloration - the promise of hop dominance is exhilarating.

S: Bright, fresh, citrusy hops. Lemon really stands out, with grapefruit and pine backing it up. Nice.

T: Citrusy, floral, bitter, and tasty. A hit of malt gives balance. Straightforward and enjoyable.

M: Smooth medium body, light, creamy carbonation. Lovely.

O: Quite good. While nothing spectacular, it did what a DIPA should do and it did it well. I'd love to drink this fresh from the source someday.

Poured a dark golden amber color with a lasting amber head. Aromas of biscuit, orange, tropical fruit and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, grapefruit, orange zest and light tropical fruit with a smooth dry lingering bitter grapefruit finish. ™

The beer pours a yellowish-gold color with a white head. The aroma is awesome. I get a lot of pine, oranges and papaya. An extremely fruity smelling Double IPA. I also get a little bit of biscuit malt in the aroma.

The flavor is just as nice. I get quite a bit of resinous pine, which mixes nicely with tropical fruit such as pineapple and papaya. The bitterness level is about medium. A very easy drinking Double IPA.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pretty nice DIPA.

In a tulip the beer was a hazy orange color. The voluminous white head resembled whipped cream. There was abundant lace.

Citrus and herbal aroma. Some malt, but not an appreciable amount.

Same thing with the taste. Lots of grapefruit and piney hops, not so much malt.

Definitely a hop-forward DIPA. Medium-bodied, very enjoyable.
