Pop's is the best small beer outlet in Northampton. The bigger Liquors 44 has a much wider selection, but the choices at Pop's are fine and diverse and often changing. Prices are often better as well, with the occasional good bargain available. Staff is friendly and I'm knowledgeable if they are not. I'd rather give my business to the little guy and dump my returnables on the big guy up the street.

Pop's is probably the best average package store in Northampton. Right on main street, hard to miss.
If you want one step in quality, selection and service you go to State Street.

The man who is always behind the register at night is very nice, but won't be able to talk beer with you if you try.

Solid wall of cold beer, reasonable prices, and everything from the cheap stuff to nice stuff.

Opa-Opa and Berkshire growlers can be found here. High & Mighty
six packs. Some surprised me like Bear Republic.
Pretty good selection of bombers, and good prices on 6 packs.

Just down the road and on the other side of the tracks from a pair of world class spots(Sierra Grill and The Dirty Truth) this little place will allow you to purchase a few bombers of the good stuff on your way out of town.

Dont expect anything overly rare, but do look for a few regional goodies (Pretty Things?) or national staples (Ommegang, Stone, Avery?) to walk away with. Gotta believe they pay the rent here with MBC and the like, but who cares?

Fairly clueless, but friendly enough chap behind the register

No frills, no expectaions, all with a cheap but cheerful convenience store ambiance

This is a place that is more convenient than anything, actually its part convenience store so that does make sense.

Beer is mostly in the coolers except for a rack of Ommegang, a small area of warm bombers and a bunch of random cases stacked near the back.

Coolers have a pretty decent selection, plenty of BMC to appease the drones, but overall I can't say its a bad place to search out good beer.

As for service, forget that, its not happening.

I did find some Hoppin' Frog there and they did have Anchor Christmas and SN Celebration in 6-packs for $7.99 each which was tempting. The cold bomber selection is not too bad to be honest.

For a convenience store that also sells liquor/wine/beer, this place is okay +.

Decided to visit this place while I was in Northampton. A typical package store with a pretty good selection.

Long aisle to the side of beer and wine while other goods like soda and food is near the counter. Almost all the beer is in freezers while some 30 racks are near the back. Noticed a good selection of micros and some imports. Purchased a Stone Smoked Porter specifically. Usual suspects of Sam Adams, BBC, Opa-Opa, Olde Burnside, People's Pint.

Service was mainly the man at the counter ringing people up. Like I said, its just a package store. Prices were decently well. They actually had some deals like buy 3 Samuel Smiths for a discount. Overall, there are other, better places around Northampton to go, but if you just want to stay local they might do the trick.

This is the beer store for downtown Northampton. It's essentially a package store with a decent beer selection. You can get Smuttynose, BBC, some of the more common Belgian beers, Paper City, Fuller's and so on. Not the largest or most interesting selection, but there is always something interesting enough to make me want to stop in again. Friendly owners, I don't think very knowledgeable about beer, but willing to do a special order if you ask. If you want a killer selection, you'll have to go to Amherst or West Springfield, and Liquors 44 on King Street is somewhat better selection-wise, but Pop's is a great, local corner beer store.
