Great customer service. Reasonable selection for DC. My problem here is the "gouging" that can take place on rarer beers.

De Vinos is a slightly bigger version of D'Vines. It's pretty good, with a decent selection for its size. It has an open floor plan to give it a better sense of space. I don't know what it is, but it just rubs me the wrong way. Selection, atmosphere, etc are good, but I'm not blown away, especially with the high markup compared to other places. I don't have that much to add that has not already been said, except that there are better spots close by. If you find yourself in need of craft beer and are already in Columbia Heights, go for it.

Nestled in gentrifying Columbia Heights sits De Vinos. While the name hints primarily at wine, about one third of the store or even perhaps half of it is dedicated to some good beer.

A cooler sits at the back wall with also some bombers off to the side that could easily be missed. The selection here was pretty good even consisting of some Voodoo brewing bottles and even some Cantillon which there was quite a few of, no doubt due to their high price tag for Gambrinus at 37 a pop!

Still there is a good selection here of items even once in a while some obscure ones as well. Service is fine, and I am sure this small shop would help you out ifyou had any questions.

I stumbled upon De Vinos while out wandering the U street and Adam's Morgan corridors of DC. Upon entering I was slightly unimpressed with their beer selection. The beer is located in the rear of the store on shelves to the left (mostly bombers and singles) and in the refrigerators (mostly sixers).

The selection was somewhat limited but they had a good amount of harder-to-find beers. For example, in early March, they still had some Bell's Hopslam--no one else in DC had any left for a solid two weeks. This is probably a result of the fact that they keep some of the beer hidden in the back cooler that you have to ask to see. But hey, they had what I was looking for!

Speaking of the Hopslam, the pricing was a bit high. In Chicago I was able to get it for about $16. In Bloomington, Indiana, I bought it for $14. At De Vinos, it cost me $23 and change.

But they have a good selection of higher-end beers. Their selection of bombers was limited to mostly the standard domestics (Rouge, Stone, etc) and the Belgians that everyone else carries, but the store was good and the service was excellent. Just make sure to hit it on a night other than Friday when it is crowded as the store is a little undermanned and the service is spotty.

Enjoy! Also check out Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits and Rodman's Grocery for more beer fun in the DC area.

I visited this place in Adam's Morgan a few weeks ago. The selection is very good for such a small store. They carry a range of products that includes most crafts available in the area (Bell's, Smuttynose, etc.) as well as a fantastic import selection. I even picked up some 2006 Pere Noel that they had aged. The staff was fairly knowledgeable about the selection and very willing to help.

Although I did not visit the Whole Foods on P St, I would recommend this to anyone in the area. Adam's Morgan is a great place for food from around the world (mostly Africa) and while you are there, this store has a great selection of beers to pick up to take home.

Ostensibly, like most beer stores in DC, a wine place, but also has a nice selection of brews. The people who work there are extremely nice, although they've mixed up a few of the beers they've sold me (they told me the Rogue Buckwheat Ale was an IPA, which led to a huge disappointment later on that night). Selection is okay, with a whole slew of fairly inexpensive Belgians (they have small bottles for $3 a lot of the time), and then a smattering of Rogue, Bell's, Bear Republic, Stone, and then a lot of local brews from Virginia and Maryland. They sell singles also, which seems to be pretty rare in these parts (only other place I can think of is the Wine Specialist). Seems that a lot of their singles rotate, so you can never really be sure what's going to be in there when you go. Nonetheless, it's a solid selection and reasonably priced if you're in the Adam's Morgan/Kalorama area.
