Giles Fine Wine is Arlington's second beer and wine store. The other notable one is Menotomy. Giles is a smallish store in E. Arlington and except for the large flag in front of the store, it would be easy to miss. The store is largely wine, but the back third is beer. They have the typical assortment of decent to very good beers, but nothing exotic. You'll find Harpoon, Berkshire ales, and all the regional micros. They have a smallish refrigerator with some growlers and some 750ml bottles. The place isn't bad, there are some bargains to be had, it is locally owned, so if you are in the area, why not buy beer here. The only down side that I was going to talk to the owner about is their very lame window display. They have Heineken and Stella Artois in the window. Two very lousy Euro lagers. They could certainly do better given their selection. Check it out, but don't let the window display dissuade you.
Update February 2010: The crappy window display is gone. The selection is decent, maybe a touch better than when I remembered it last. The side wall in the back of the store has plenty of 750ml bombers to keep you going for awhile. Like Menotomy, you can't break up six packs, which is unfortunate.

I actually live right across from Giles Fine Wine. As the name suggests, it is definitely a wine store first. It has an extensive selection of wine and the owners are far into wine than beer. However, they do know their beer as well.
They have a decent selection of popular New England beers (Harpoon, Berkshire, Long Trail, etc.) as well as some very decent national beers as well. Nothing too crazy though. They seem to get in something new every time I'm there, so I can always try something new. I think they also do beer tastings from 4-6pm on Fridays, but I've never been. Definitely recommended for a good microbrew selection.

I live down the street from Giles. Its is small and the focus is on wine, but there is a decent beer selection for a small place. The selection includes 6 packs of local New England brews and 22oz abd 750ml bottles of more exotic domestic craft brews and european imports. I usually stop in Friday to grab a few things for the weekend and they always have 3-4 beers from a new brewery to sample. Because it is small, the beers don't seem like they sit on the shelf too long. Its a good option if you are in the area, but probably not worth a longer drive with all the options in the Boston area.

I only tried to stop here because of the previous review here in BA.
From it's outside appearance the store front looks very unlike a beer and wine store. Even upon entering the store it seems that they have wine bottles wall to wall and not much of anything else. In the cooler in the back was surprising amount of micro beer selections as well as the typical macro beers. There is good amount of Rouge beers such as Double Dead Guy as well as selections from Brooklyn brewery and others like Harpoon and Sam Adams. Not largest beer selection but a decent one for the size of the store and did have a few harder to find brews like Rouges Chipotle Ale.
