The owner Tommy was very friendly and extremely helpful on my first visit and sent me away with a nice pair of Skibbo's pint glasses on the house. On later visits he has been just as accommodating and encouraged me to call in any special order requests as well as keep him posted on new beers. This level of service is exceptional.

The selection is ample and well-chosen but not extensive, with a mix of craft and big-brand brews, and runs heavy on IPAs and Belgian beers. Skibbo's also rotates 4 taps to fill growlers, though I've never tried them.

Though the selection isn't mind-blowing, it's certainly helped by the simple fact that the owner is willing to order whatever you like -- a nice touch. Skibbo's is worth a visit.

Looked this place up on BeerFly and stopped in on my way to a rugby game on Randall's Island - extremely convenient location on the way from CT into the city. I couldn't find anything online about the hours, though, so my fingers were crossed as I pulled up at 9:30 on Sunday - sure enough, though, the open sign was on. Needless to say I had the place pretty much to myself, and Tommy was most helpful answering my questions about their growler set-up and giving me samples of a couple of the draft beers (they had SN Celebration, SA Cherry Wheat, 21st Amendment Black IPA, Leffe Brown, and Bud Light Golden Wheat). I wound up getting bottles instead, and found the refrigerated selection to be very solid indeed, with an even better variety of craft singles in the center display area. I didn't take the time to check out their imports. The prices were quite reasonable across the board (including the best price I'd seen anywhere on the Brooklyn Locals), which really impressed me for being in NYC (I got raped just the day before at a small grocery store in Manhattan - ~$15 for a sixer of SN Celebration). Taking the solid selection, growler availability, long hours, good prices, and impeccable service into account, this is one of my favorite beer stores, and one that I'll be sure to patronize again whenever I'm passing through the Bronx.

Cheers!

Edit: I stopped in here a second time, and found the selection to be less thrilling than before; according to the clerk they were having troubles getting all they wanted from their distributors. They had Breakfast Stout on for growler fills (which was cool), but no Founders bottles at all (which was disappointing).

Stopped here while visiting family in the Bronx. Tommy was very helpful, great customer service. Great selection of craft beers (much better than I thought I'd find in the area) with a lot that I can't get at home. Had Hair of the Dog, Cigar City, Pretty Things, Oskar Blues, Ithica, AleSmith to name a few. Most beers are stored cold. He recommended the double IPA from Captain Lawrence (local brewery I hadn't heard of). Really enjoyed that one. I'll be looking for it in the future. Picked up a growler of Jack D'Or from the the draft selections. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in the area.

Being that I live close to Skibbo's and the fact that the Bronx has few options for craft beer make Skibbo's a gem for me.

Great service and a pretty good selection. Whenever I want to try something new I get it here. By far the best beer store in the Bronx, and mind you there is one closer to me but it doesn't compare.

And, like the other reviewers I've gotten my free Skibbo's pint glass. The tap selection is always pretty good too and the prices are pretty standard as long as you know what craft beer costs all around.

Skibbo's is the best place in the Bronx to find Real Beer. With a wide selection of Cold 6's and 22's, this place is a must visit. Not to forget the 3 growler taps, with 5 more on the way before the Summer gets kickin. Great, well-informed and polite staff also add to the experience. Go in and say Hi to Tommy and Tommy Jr. and they'll be sure to take care of all your beer needs. If there's something that you don't see, the guys usually have it available within a week. Troegs, Southern Tier, Ommegang, Slyfox, Allagash, Blue Point, Captain Lawrence, Saranac, Stone, Rogue, Heavyweight, Arcadia, Piraat, Gulden Draak, Flying Dog, just to name a few.

Living in the Bronx, it's not always easy to find good beer. A few years back, however, we came upon a local distributor named Skibbo's and its owner Tommy, who has transformed our beer drinking in a very positive way.

Tommy isn't afraid to experiment and find some good local beers (meaning the northeast). It's not uncommon to walk in and have him say, 'Scott! Got something for you to try!' and then have him walk me over to the kegs where he'll pull a sample of Captain Lawrence Liquid Gold, for example.

He'll also bend over backwards looking for beer you ask him to get -- case in point, Keegan's Mother's Milk, which I asked about back in the spring, only to have it show up in the past month.

I can't recommend this place enough -- if you're in the Bronx or Westchester, make it a point to swing by. And tell him Scott sent you via Beer Advocate. :)

I grew up in the area of the Bronx were Skibbo's is located. On a recent trip back to see the parents I stopped in. I was impressed to find a clean well lit establishment with a great selection of craft brew.

I was shocked to find 6 taps of micro's! Let me say that I love tap beer and have vistied several stores/brew pubs/brewerys that fill growlers. I have six growlers from all of these fine places and now I have a seventh.

It is cool growler. It has Skibbos beer written on it as well as "Da Bronx". As I said I grew up in the area and now I have a growler that shows a little home town pride!

Tommy the owner is great. He was a pleasure to speak with and knows how to take care of his customers. He gave me a Skibbo's pint glass for free!

I know when I am visiting mom and dad, i will also be visiting Skibbo's too.

I stopped by Skibbo's the other day and was very impressed by the great selection and even better service. Couldn't believe how wide-ranging and complete it was. They carry everything from rouge, arcadia, southern tier, stone, and much more. Great atmosphere too. A craft beer-lover's heaven...in the Bronx. Hands-down best selection in the Bronx...I have never seen anything close in this borough. Will definitely return soon but instead of biking with a backpack there, i'll bring a car to stock up!

Based on the reviews here I ventured over to the holy grail of beer that is Skibbo's, I own a kegerator and have been driving from the bronx into NJ to buy kegs from Bottle King, the prices there even after the toll and gas were still substantially cheaper than any prices given to me from local places in the Bronx.

I went over there with my girlfriend a couple weeks ago and was cheerfully greeted by Tommy Sr., he was happy to give me some great samples from the taps, and wrote down a list of my favorite kegs to get me pricing. My last keg of Sam white ale popped on monday and I promptly called Tommy to order a quarter of yuengling. I showed up tonight to pick it up and was VERY pleased with the price I paid, suffice it to say it was cheaper than going to NJ and paying for gas and a toll, so I am very happy.

I was lucky enough to meet Tommy Jr. and one of their friends at the store tonight, lucky in that their friend whipped me up a nice sample size black and tan with some goosehead IPA and bare knuckle stout that Tommy had on tap....yummm!

Tommy has a customer for as long as I live in NYC, I will go nowhere else, EVER!

To top it all off they cary Manhattan Special espresso soda at a great price, so I picked up a sixer for my little lady, which certainly made Tommy her new hero!

Thank you Tommy Sr. and Jr., oh and JD for makin me that sweet B&T !! :)

A true gem in the rough of beer availability in the east Bronx. A full selection of all American craft brewers from Long Trail, Sam, Ithaca, Wehyerbacher, Victory, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, Troegs, Wolavers, Wachussets. Then the Belgian shelves in the middle of the very roomy store located close to the highway. Unibroque, St. Bernadus, Saison Dupont etc. Then there are the growlers!!! Yes, growlers in the Bronx and with 5-6 rotating taps. Tommy Alteri the owner sells growlers at a reasonable price along with good glassware, ice and the usual suspects of other beer and beverages. Check out the wine store next door on your way home.
