We debuted Griffon Bruxellois late in 2012 at a few of our events and it was quite a hit. This dark, sour ale was aged in oak barrels on cherries, giving it an incredible fruit flavor, balanced by the roasted malt and lactic tartness. We must admit, this bottle-conditioned beer didn't turn out quite as carbonated as we were hoping for, but it is still an incredible beer, 100% worthy of our high standards to be sold, served, shared and enjoyed!

A: Poured into a duvel tulip to a reddish brown beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of off white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of sourness, cherries, funk, and leather
T: taste is sour cherries and a nice amount of acidity with a little leather and some funk along with hints of toasted malts. On the finish there's more sour cherries, funk, and leather with some lingering wood notes.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of things but it does not feel quite watery. Carbonation is effervescent and on the high end while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this beer is very nice. It has a great amount of complexity along with some really nice flavors which delivers everything you may be looking for in a fruited dark sour.

Purchased at the Bruery Store in Washington, DC. A 750ml bottle with a cap. Drank this one with family on Mother’s Day.
A sipper of a beer due to its very lactic sourness. So sour and acrid that the cherry flavor and any sweetness has been lost. Too sour for me. 3.0
A – Pours a brilliantly clear amber with a three-finger pink tinged/off-white rocky head. The head fades quickly with almost no lacing. 4.25
S – Aromas of lactic, sour cherries and a faint sweetness. 3.75
T – Sour, minerally, no sweetness and almost no cherries. 3.0
MF – Light bodies with a dry finish that is harsh, sharp, and acrid at times. 2.75

Overall, this is a well-balanced sour ale. Subtle hints of caramel intertwined with fruit that balance out the sour. It pours a deep, reddish brown with very little carbonation but the beer doesnt really need any - it works as is.

Poured into a wine glass from a capped 750 ml bottle. Pours a fairly clear copper amber and sports a somewhat fleeting off white cap of foam. Aroma is clean with subtle oak notes prominent, and cherry sour notes amidst it all.
Taste starts with a light malt character but finishes with notable fruit character with sweetness and a hint of dilute gatorade. Bit watery in feel and fairly blah blah in character as the sour influence is fairly low as is the malt profile. A fairly light bodied Oud Bruin. Decent feel and finish though quite dry on the finish.

Received this as part of my quarterly offerings. Unsure what to think. What the heck I will try it.
A two finger head that is off white, the retention is poor, but did leave a little foam and ring on the glass. The color of the beer is a medium burnt orange and is mostly opaque. Carbonation level in the glass is medium.
Super huge funky barnyard aroma, fruity, wood, fruity esters, toasted malt, and yeast.
Big funky barnyard, cherries, wood, toasted malt, caramel, yeast, fruity ester, citrus, musty, and sour.
Mouthfeel: Medium light body, medium plus carbonation, tarty dry finish.
This beer has some serious sour notes. The cherry flavors ramp up the tart flavors just a bit. The balance for me is a little more towards the sour side. The beer is pretty tasty stuff. Glad I had a chance to try it.
