Style | ABV
Wheatwine |  14.25% ABV

Availability: Limited (brewed once). bottle (59), on-tap (2)

Notes:
The primary component of our "White Oak" ale is a 100% barrel aged wheat wine that we affectionately refer to as "White Oak Sap." Essentially a "summer" barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, White Oak Sap is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, we've added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate...hence the name.

Had this at a tasting and went back for seconds. Happy to get a bottle in a recent trade to share with the wife!

A - this beer pours out at a deep straw-colored tone, with plenty of white frothy head to boot; the carbonation is excellent, the lacing significant

S - this beer smells like white chocolate...surprise! The nose also includes some toasted sugar, frosted oats, caramel, and booze; the bourbon is there, as is the cacao; as it warms, the coconut is noticed

T - just like the nose, and just like the name...the vanilla and cacao-caramel shine through; it's really kind of amazing how perfectly white chocolate this beer is; it's sweet and packs some heat, but my wife guessed an abv at 9: that means this beer does extremely well with its complex flavors; as it warms, that honey shines

M - WC is heavy in flavors, but a perfect medium in feel and body; the carbonation is perfect as well; as mentioned, it's a bit sweet, but if you didn't expect that, then you don't know how to read labels; the heat is noticeable but not too much

O - this is an awesome desert beer and perfect to share with. That said, I could take this down solo with pleasure. This beer, along with Fruet and Melange, make me happy to be an RS member and make me feel like the Bruery owns this country's best barrel program. And I haven't even had CR, BT, or GM. Soon...

I got this beer at the Zeebra Extreme Beerfestival in Holland on may 4th 2013. Zeebra was held for the first time with lots of very very very great beers and i wished i could say 'like this one'. But this was a very disappointing beer.

Poured in a Zeebra glass, a small tasting glass. I expected much more quality when i look at the others in this family.

Almost no head and carbonation. The white chocolate was there but not the same as i got in the Chocolate Rain. Pity cause this beer could have been made much better. Glad to have it though because i love the other Bruery beers (exept the sour ones)...

A: Decent clarity, apricot in color with a loose head that doesn't last long. Syrupy.

S: Wow, this really does smell like white chocolate. Vanilla beans, sweet oak, mineraly, prefumy, fruity, marzipan, flowers, coconut, honey. As a dessert beer this works very well, a lovely aroma.

T: Big wheaty malt, chantilly cream, white chocolate shavings. Again I am surprised at how much I like this beer.

M: Full bodied and sweet, though surprisingly easy to drink.

My respect to The Bruery for pulling this off. It really does smell like beautiful white chocolate.
