The beer appears a gorgeous, radiant reddish purple color. The pink head is nearly a half inch at the onset, but quickly diminishes to a thin, broken layer.

The aroma is fabulous, with a huge raspberry presence. Additional scents include a pleasant, funky, barnyard character and a subtle earthy component.

The flavor, while certainly enjoyable, is not up to the level of the aroma. Again, plenty of raspberry presence. This drinks a bit like a fruit juice or spritzer. Funk presence is there but mild. A subtle acetic presence delicately emerges in the back.

Overall, a fine beer I would happily have again.

Why are the reviews for this beer so insanely low? Makes no sense. A perfectly fine fruit beer from the Bruery, well done guys.

Beer poured from a growler into a Bruery tulip, if the world has to come to an end this year at least I'll have the right glassware for the occasion.

Beer is red, dark pink, with a thin white head, low retention, no lacing, moderate to low carbonation.

Aroma is sweet with a mild tartness, fruit all the way baby, huge fruit nose, huge everything.

Beer is light in body, nice finish, a little like raspberry jam, mild tartness on the backend, not dry at all. This is sort of like what Lindemann beers should be like, a really decent beer right here. I'd have it again.

From 02/25/12 notes. Big big thanks to drabmuh for sharing a growler of this, I really liked it.

a - Pours a somewhat hazy dark pink purple color with two inches of fluffy white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks beautiful, I love sours that have this deep purple-pink color.

s - Smells or sour raspberries, tart dark fruits, brett, oak, fruity malts, some acidity. Lightly funky and sour, but nothing too sour. Awesome nose.

t - Tastes of sour raspberries, sweey fruity malts, sweet and tart dark fruits, oak, acidic, lightly funky. Taste is very nice but a little sweeter then the nose and not quite as sour or funky. Still really like it.

m - Light to medium body and moderate carbonation.

o - Overall I really like this one. It looks amazing and has a really nice sour and funky dark fruity nose. The taste is a little sweeter and reminds me more of raspberry juice, but it is very tasty amd very easy to drink. Felt like I could have drank the whole growler, really hoping they bottle this this year since I'm in the RS.

Ginormous thanks to drabmuh for bringing out this growler. Served in a Bruery tulip. Thanks to Lunch for the assist on the glassware, as all my Bruery tulips have been packed.

Pours a bright reddish-pink color with a good slightly-pink head. A touch of lacing. The nose has plenty of raspberry with a good bit of must and earth. Really nice. Loads of raspberry and a touch of acidity. The flavor is a bit sweeter with lots of raspberry. Almost Koolaid-ish. That's an exaggeration, but it is a sweeter and heavy on the fruit without as much earth and acidity as the nose. Good light body with a nice light acidity to the finish. Really nice beer.

Pours a murky cranberry red with an off-white head that settles to a film on the top of the beer. No lacing on this on. Smell is of lots of sour and funky berry aromas (obviously raspberries are the main thing here). Taste is pretty much the same but raspberries come through as the main fruit flavor. There is an acidic quality in the throat with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice funky and sour berry combos going on.

Big thanks goes out to beermeX2 for sharing this one at the Down South Beer Tasting while aasher was in town to visit! Served from growler into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured pinkish red with a one finger light pink head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, tart, cranberries, tart cherry, and subtle funk. The flavor was of sweet malt, tart, cranberries, and tart cherry. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a very good brew. I love how the Brett made itself known on the nose, but didn't like how the fruit characters covered it up in the flavor. This one was extremely easy to drink as Al stated below and I could see myself destroying a growler of this with very little problem at all. Really glad I got the chance to try this one and would love to do so again without a doubt.

Poured from a growler during the South Carolina tasting. It pours a very nice and lightly cloudy strawberry red in color with a light frothy head around the glass. It smells of sweet and tart raspberries and is very fresh. It's definitely on the drier side. You also get a good amount of brett. It drinks very light and dry with a nice effervescence. The berry is both sweet and tart and its pretty complex. It's very drinkable despite the amount of brett present. I could drink a lot of this. Very nice beer. It was a pleasure to try it.

A: Bright raspberry red body. Nice off-white head leaving behind solid lacing.

S: Sweet raspberries dominate with hints of generic citric notes (lemon mostly).

T: Again raspberry dominates with some lemon and oak. Simple, not particularly interesting or well played out.

M: Thin, watery, slightly soapy feel. Medium carbonation. Refreshing, though.

O: A raspberry lawnmover beer. Sitting outside this might be nice with a drink with a mini-umbrella in it.

Screw all these naysayers. Alcoholic, carbonated raspberry puree FTW!

Pours reddish pink with a big pinkish foam head. Surprisingly bubbly.

Smells overwhelmingly redolent of raspberries. Like getting hit with a raspberry sledge hammer. Faint wisps of acidic lemon ... oak?

Taste is a bit more balanced with ... oh, who am I kidding. It's a raspberry assault with a surprisingly amount of dry, wood-sy/lemon-y sourness balancing the crazy fruit-forward flavor. I'd be interested to see what happened to this with a few years on it, but sadly no bottles to be had.

Wish I'd bought two growlers of it. Great effervescent mouthfeel.

Appearance: Cloudy medium purplish-pink color. Fairly thin light pink head that quickly faded. Nice looking beer.

Smell: Barnyard funk and raspberry.

Taste: Tart raspberry, slight funk and mild acetic notes. i thought it was good tasting but i prefer a bit more sour.

Mouth-feel: Medium body with a fair level of carbonation.

Overall: I like this beer but it's a step behind my favorite of the Raspberry wild ales (Framboise De Amorosa). I wouldn't mind a bit more sour but this is a tasty refreshing summer beer

Reviewed less than 24 hours after growler filled at Bruery and kept cool upon filling until reviewed.

On tap at Local Habit in San Diego. The current batch is 7.0% ABV.

Pours a beautiful pink color with a slight mustache of foam. Rather sweet and fruity to staret. Tastes more like a Belgian fruit beer, but sharper and less sylish, somehow. A hint of Hawaiian Punch in the flavors, but that's actually quite nice and the sweet tutti-fruitiness is plenty balanced by the acidity.

This does get quite sour after some sipping. The raspberry flavor lasts to the end. A little woody. Not much aroma. A bitter tang like berry seeds for the aftertaste. Pleasanter than some sours with the clean berry taste, but it's serious stuff to drink.

On tap at the Bruery...poured into a tulip.

A - Pours a gleaming, bright and clear rosey red color with a vague attempt at forming a white collar around the edge of the glass.

S - Super strong raspberry aroma...raspberries layered on top of raspberries. Mildly tart aroma and a slight sweetness. Super fruity and juicy.

T - Same as the aroma...raspberries galore. Not much else going on...this is intense and one dimensionally raspberry.

M - Thin body with a medium carbonation level that gives a light tingle with a bit of a fruity tartness

O - Very good raspberry forward beer. Dessert-like, sweet and fruity. Not much complexity, but it delivers fresh raspberries from beginning to end.

A: A very soft pink/red body with a white/pink one finger head that disappears quickly.

S: Very fruity. It is very one dimensional. The smell of raspberries is the overwhelming majority, there is a small amount of tart presant as well.

T: Way too sweet for my liking but very interesting. OT would make a great dessert beer. Very sweet raspberry with a tinge of sour tart.

M: Thick body with sharp carbonation.

O: A good beer worth trying. Top 10 in dessert beers IMO.

A: Deep raspberry red with minimal foam and lace

S: Acetic acid sourness mixed with sweet berry syrup. Funky with a raspberry sweetness.

T: This brew follows the nose offering a raspberry vinaigrette funky sweetness. The palate has more fruit sweetness than tart bite. No significant malt presence. The astringency builds as the beer warms. A great use of sweet sour combination topped off with a nice lively bite.

M: Syrupy linger with a somwhat thin body and moderate carbonation.

O: A decent sour with good berry sweetness and some interesting acetic acid bite. A Razzmatazz like sugary tartness brings out the kid in every beer drinker although this brew can use more tart astringency, funk, and complexity to balance the fruit sweetness.

I loved this brew, as did my girlfriend who is very non-beer.

It was a hazy ruby/pink with a slight pink head that dissipated quickly. The nose was exactky what I expected, sour notes, tartness, raspberries, slight yeast, dark fruits and no alcohol. Smelled almost exactly like the Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus I had. The taste was dominated by the fruit (as expected), it was very tart and sour (causing the mouth to salivate, one of my favorite parts of sours and wilds. It was all raspberry and sour yeast. It was awesome. I wish it was bottled so I could take some home.

Poured in a 4oz tulip glass at Playground in Santa Ana, Calif. Reviewed from notes.

A- No head, no lacing. Scarlet colored beer. Never had one this color before.

S- Strong raspberry flavors. Can't detect much else.

T- Super tart, a very sour lambic/wild ale style beer. Not bad, but difficult to appreciate.

M- Medium bodied and fizzy.

O- Wouldn't order it again, but an interesting beer in the style.

A: Great color. Raspberry red with medium translucence. Extremely light white head that dissipates in seconds. Pretty much looks like a glass of juice.

S: Nice aromatics. Very fruity, raspberries, cherries, even fresh cranberries. Tiny bit of hops is also evident. The fruitiness is nice but that's pretty much it.

T: Raspberries hit you right away. Once the sweetness of the fruits pass the tip of your tongue mild lactic tartness follows giving way to a tiny bit of hops. Almost no malts evident on the palette. While it is slightly sour, there's much more fruit here than tart, leading me to think I'd call this a lambic rather than a sour in a blind tasting.

M: Paper thin. No carbonation either. This is where I really started asking myself "Am I drinking a beer?" I really felt like I was drinking a dry cider.

O: For being a fruit beer, this thing nails the fruit, easily. It's got a nice aroma red fruits and very distinct raspberry flavor dominating it as you drink it. Unfortunately, as a beer (in all the aspects we use to identify a beer: malts, hops, carbonation) it's pretty lacking. This is one of those examples of a "(insert foreign ingredient) beer" where the featured ingredient dominates the beer. It's an interesting experience I think is worth trying out, but it's not what I was expecting. And not in a good way either, because it's also just not what I'm looking for in general either.

I agree witht he guy below me (or woman), though I am a bit concerned on how you got that on growler! Or just jealous...

This is just a simple great beer that I think sticks to the style without blowing it out of proportion. Most Framboise lambic/wilds I have had are way too sour or way too lactic. This has a nice lactic/sweet balance that I think gives the beer a great drinkability along with a tartness that makes the beer dynamic and more enjoyable after each sip. If it's on tap, drink it down.

on tap at Mohawk Bend, and it's been around LA a lot lately, which makes me think there's either a new batch or they saved a bunch for Valentine's Day...

A - bright, light red, almost pink with a small off white head that disappears quickly and leaves little trace. Love that color. Tiny bubbles constantly stream towards the top of the glass.

S - fresh raspberries up front, but I'd say the dominant smell is tartness and a bit of acidity.

T - The best word to describe this flavor is bright. The raspberries really jump out, and then there's a nice hit of sourness and acidity. It sounds one-dimensional, and it might be a little too much like a raspberry juice squeeze for some, but I loved it. Really great flavor.

M - lots of carbonation leaves it feeling prickly on the tongue, and overall. Very crisp and refreshing.

O - yet another awesome beer from the Bruery, and I especially admire their sour program. I'd put this up there with the likes of MA and ISO:FT, though definitely in a different sort of sour category. In fact, I think this is a pretty good approximation of a poor man's Rose de Gambrinus. Certainly it's no Cantiloon, but it's great all the same.

I'm very surprised that this is not a really high rated beer. Admittedly, the first couple of times I tried this I would have agreed with most of the reviews that are 3.5 to 4. However, just had some on tap at Boneyard Bistro in Sherman Oaks and it just blew me away. I don't know if it's a new batch, I don't know if its a special keg, I don't know anything about the technical aspects of the beer other than it rocked!

Poured a hazy rhubarb dark pink/red with a very fast fading white head. Looks like hazy raspberry soda but was very pretty.

Nose is just all assertive lightly citric/lightly funked sweet raspberries. The nose just makes you want to gulp!

Mouthfeel is light to medium citric/acidic with a light to medium light carbonaation. All in all, and while not a typical brew, it was very well balanced.

Flavors are just plain delicious. Sweet but tart, citric and lightly sour raspberries. I get layers of character despite an initial impression of "simple (albeit delicious) raspberries." Yes, there is a sweet tone and character but it is well balanced with acid, tartness and light sour character.

Finish is lightly acidic and of tart raspberries.

You just want to keep drinking it and, I admit it, you liken it to "an adult soda." But, what a nice thing. Goes very well with food. I drank it with chicken wings and BBQ and it not only tasted good and held it's own but it married really well.

Please Patrick and Tyler....bottle this one!

On draft at the brewery.

Pours a bright cherry red color with a pinkish half finger head that quickly settles into a thin ring.  Minimal spots of lace left behind.

Tart, slightly funky aroma that's bursting with uber-fresh raspberries.  Slightly earthy but the raspberries really dominate.  Kind of one dimensional but smells pretty good.

Medium bodied with a dry, puckering mouthfeel that lingers throughout into a slightly dry finish.  This beer is bursting with tart raspberry flavor that's really sweet.  Dry but not funky or acidic.  Kind of like a sour New Glarus desert beer. Again, not overly complex but very flavorful.

Pours a vibrant reddish pink. I imagine that this is what a bottle of rosé would look like if you reduced it.

Tart and refreshing aroma.

Raspberries are more complimentary to the style than they are dominating. Slightly tart.

Delicate, effervescent.

I could definitely knock back a few of these.

So imagine how good liefman's raspberry lambic sounded before you actually tasted it. Well what if it actually tasted as good as you had imagined? If you're sick of imagining get yourself some of this. Super balanced. Great tartness cut by a delicious raspberry sweetness.

Seriously so good. I hope The Bruery decides to bottle this some day.

I've had enough raspberry juice in my life to recognize the color. It looks like, well, raspberry juice, with a large soda-like formation of head, though retention is passable. It smells similar to raspberry juice, but not so sweet and more tart.

It tastes like a reasonable raspberry beer, yet I feel like something is missing to take it to the next level. Maybe I was expecting more sweet raspberry flavor and less tartness. The beer has a medium mouthfeel, carbonation is right, and it is refreshing.

I'm more into cranberries than raspberries, so perhaps that's why I prefered Carmen over BeRazzled. Still, BeRazzled commands some respectability.
