Big thanks to Sean for this... A semi clear light brown, light tope head... The nose is acidic vinegar, a hint of cherries, pretty complex... The taste is boring, vinegar, tart cherries, very oaky finish... Not bad, the 9% is hidden really well. I need to have the Marron to compare.

Another sour poured & passed around at Mista's place. I usually don't review when I'm out & about (or aboot, if you're in Canada), but with a bunch of sours I'll probably never get to try again, it seemed like a good idea. Have been wanting to try this one for a while.

Pour is a filmy red color, very still. Nose was straight-up sour, not getting much fruit/guava or anything else. Not sure I like where this is going.

ISO:FT might have the greatest name of all-time, but it couldn't stand up to the other sours at the tasting. Harsher & more one note than the two previously sampled, this brew is mostly unalloyed sour with a faint side-dish of bitter guava. I couldn't tease out either the barrel notes nor the other ingredients, which left me disappointed. 3-4 ounces went down about right.

Glad I didn't land this one via trade, but it continues a trend of unfortunate collaboration mediocrity, which seems to be the rule rather than the exception. A strictly average wild.

Pours a dark mahogany with reddish tints and a off-white head that settles to a thin ring and island of haze. Definitely smells like Marron Acidifie, but sweeter, with a bit of date syrup to go along with the usual red wine vinegar, oak, leather, and tobacco. Taste is pretty similar to the nose, basically a sweeter, less bracingly tart and acidic Marron Acidifie (not particularly a bad thing). More leather, oak, tobacco, vinegar, and cranberry, with sweet fruit and a touch of molasses. Really drinkable, and a beautiful take on one of my all-time favorite beers. Mouthfeel is crisp, with a medium body, ample carbonation, and a slightly astringent, drying finish. Really great beer, glad I got to try this rare variant!

Poured into a shaker pint.

Muddy and bloody, a dark, murky crimson. A thin layer of light tan fizz tops the brew.

Brown sugar, balsamic and guava in the nose. Smoother and rounder than the Marron.

Same thing here. Not as sour or boring as the Marron. The guava adds the perfect sweetness to balance. Balsamic acid still sits on the sides of the tongue. Brown sugar, guava, vinegar. Dates emerge as it warms.

Medium bodied, with moderate massaging carbonation.

I like what was done here. It's not very different, but has just enough tropical sweetness to round out the rough edges of Marron Acidifie.

750 ml bottle generously shared by colonelforbin. Thanks Mike. Pours a dark brown with a small white head that disappears fairly quickly and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is caramel malt, some light brett, a bit of vinegar, some oak, and a light bourbon note. The taste has a light initial sweetness with a decent tartness. There is caramel, some raisin, a bit of vinegar, and some oak. A hint of alcohol with a decent tartness on the finish. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Not bad, but not all that much different from Marron Acidifie.

750ml bottle. Served in a snifter.

Pours a hazy copper brown with a bit of a beige head that disappears very quickly to a small ring. No lacing.

Aroma of vinous tartness, sour fruits, oak, and some basement sulphuric notes in the background. Some obvious alcohol.

Flavor is a sweet and sour blend with a lemony bitterness that lingers well into the aftertaste. Some nice citrus from the guava, not sure I'm getting the dates. A decent amount of malt sits under that and helps to balance things out with some sweetness. Alcohol mostly buried.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Vinous quality to the feel. Could stand a touch more carb, but drinkable.

I don't like this as much as Marrón Acidifié, but it's interesting to taste a variation.
