Bottle # 3097.

A: deep copper color with some reddish hues, clear, poured with a good, dense, creamy tan-colored head that dissipated within minutes to nothing
S: incredibly deep and full nose, sweeter roasted malts with leather undertones, malt dominates, near port-like or aged barley wine
T: incredibly intense beer, deep roasted/burnt malt, some barrel aging noticeable, finish is a combo of sharp burn malt and/or bitterness
M: tons of different tastes between burnt malt, EtOH, barrel, intense very drinkable for ABV, creamy
O: very unique, reminded me of a British barley wine and/or port

Tried this at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank. The beer is retired but they had an aged keg.

It was a little murky looking with a caramel color and a head that couldn't wait to vanish.

Smell is very winey. Strong.

Interesting flavors of malty grain and hot booze.

Nice heavy mouthfeel that made this a slow sipper.

Glad I tried it and fun to share with friends, but I never even considered ordering another.

750 ml bottle. I bought this at Beer Run when it was released in 2010 for $21.

Appearance: Pours hazy brown, but when held to light, is actually pretty clear, and a deep dark garnet color. Hard pour yields a bit of off white head with minimal retention.

Smell: Rich, sweet malt and fruit. Raisins and dates, dried peaches and/or apricots. Some oxidation notes. Vanilla notes from the boubon, and some alcohol smell.

Taste: Super sweet with lots of complexity. Insane amounts of fruit flavor and considerable alcohol bite. Similar to port of sherry. Finish yields the bourbon, a bit of roast, and a long, warming boozy kiss.

Mouthfeel: Syrupy, low carbonation.

Overall: I like it quite a bit. Its really sweet though, and that gets a little old. SImilar to the Fruet I drank at Christmas, but less bourbony.
