Pours dark brown and sits in the glass even darker brown.
Nice tan head that dissapates fast!

Dank off-smell up front. Rye, spice, alcohol. Not my favorite smelling brew.

Taset is good. Bitter hop kick with sweet molassis following. Some sourness that goes along with the style.

Smooth and well blended mouthfeel. Nice session brew!!
Some hop kick with lots of sugars to coat the mouth.

Pours a dark amber brown with what looks like a decent amount of carbonation. The hue really is perfect for this type of beer, very inviting.

Smells of dark fruits and some slight burnt candy caramel. There's a nutty toffee malty note accompanying what reminds me of the smell of a quad.

Tastes of some nutty dark chocolate and some dark fruits with raisins. There's a toffee sweetness that is joined by a spicy rye bread note.

Mouthfeel is sharp round and chewy. Moderate amount of carbonation keeps this from being too thick.

Overall it's a great rye beer. Nice to see an outstanding non sour from the Bruery.

First half of the bottle pours clear and dark. Primarily brown with hints of copper and red. Once you get down to the bottom the bottle the beer becomes very hazy and looks like sewer water. Tons of yeast sediment in the glass. It looks as though theres are rye particulates floating around as well. Off-white/eggshell head with tight foam. Minimal but noticeable alcohol legs.

Sweet malt smell - brown/burnt sugar, caramel, dark chocolate. A nice toasted, almost burnt, quality, also a nice bready smell. Lots of rye - it smells a lot like rye bread. The flavor become much less sweet as it warmed up and got towards the bottom of the bottle. More bread and rye and subtle dark fruits - raisin, fig,...)

A big burst of sweetness at the front of the mouth - caramel and chocolate. But quickly moves towards the more savory rye and roast flavors. A surprising amount of light acidic flavors - almost a very mild sourness that I'm guessing is coming from the rye. Finishes with a nice light coffee bitterness and some residual sweetness.

A light mouthfeel for the abv, but not too watery. The light/medium mouthfeel was a nice contrast to the rich flavors.

Overall, a nice malty beer with a fair amount of roast. Not overly complex, but enjoyable.

Appearance: Dark amber-brown with very little head.

Aroma: Dark fruits, slight caramel, light dark bread smell, tiny bits of black peppers, and some alcohol as well. Overall aroma is light.

Taste: Dark fruits, mostly cherry. Some caramel sweetness and dark bread. Some roasted-ness. Some more Belgian-like characters, maybe it's the yeast. Even some floral hops.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with light carbonation. Feels almost creamy but yet watery at the same time. Finish is sweet with some hops.

Overall: I was really looking forward to this beer, but was disappointed. It's a some-what interesting beer but just felt lacking. It was not worth the money.
