750mL pour into tulip. Just "re-released" as a Provisions Series beer.

A - Slightly hazy, burnt orange in color. Nice eggshell head that sticks around for awhile. Decent lacing.

S - Get the orange with spices right away. A little orange sherbert? Also get the band-aid funk from the yeast.

T - Again with the orange sherbert and a little spice. Then it dries out just enough not to be too sweet. No sign of alcohol for a 10%ABV beer. Just a slight bit of funk, just barely noticeable. Very well balanced and refreshing.

M - Medium body with medium-low carbonation. Gives a silky mouthfeel. Nice.

D - Dangerously smooth and refreshing. You really have to remember that this one is 10%ABV and not drink it too fast.

Great easy drinking and delicious beer. I'm glad they brought this one back. I bought and extra to age. If it smoothes out even more, watch out!

Shared by Thorpe the other night while we watched some football. This beer is not currently on the best of style list for Belgian Strong Pale ale.

Beer served in a Bruery tulip because I am the man (actually it was Thorpe's glass).

Beer is yellow with a mild haze and a wispy little head, minimal lacing, low carbonation, looks fine.

Aroma is sweet and mildly citrusy, floral and spice.

Beer is light in body and pretty sweet. It is nice throughout but not as complex as I hoped for. I can and will drink another but it is a little boring.

Thank you, Andrew. 2011 Provisions release clocking in at 10% ABV.

Pouring a mildly hazy copper, this beer has a dense, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose has plenty of yeasty, fruity esters, with the added citrus kinda dominating the mix. Moderate spice character is present as well, and the oak is rather big, buttery and vanillin heavy. Mild to moderate honey sweetness is present along with a moderate alcohol note. The spice character seems like a blend of clove and nutmeg with a dash of cinnamon thrown in. Decent.

The palate is a lot brasher and boozier than the nose would suggest. A robust alcohol character is present, lightening the body, and enhancing the oak. Flavor-wise, there's some citrus (orange peel), a mellow blend of spices (it's hard to discern with the rather high booziness and heavy handed use of oak and some honey. The oak character is just too much, rather raw, medium-light toast, with some buttery notes as well as a rather high amount of oak flavors and a little vanillin. As for malts, there's a pleasant, enjoyable toffee and caramel character as well. Medium in body with a very nice level of carbonation, this beer is just too boozy and too oaky for it's own good. On the bright side, it doesn't quite taste like the lumber yard that Acer Quercus was, but that's not setting a very high bar, is it? Still, this is drinkable, and I'll probably finish this bottle, but I feel no need to revisit, especially at the cost.
