Pours a ruby brown in color. Looks like autumn in a glass. Very nice couple inches of head forms on the pour. It sticks around for awhile, but recedes to a froth.
Smell is mostly spices with some malts as well. Lots of nutmeg, alspice and some sweet yams. Smells delicioius, and I just decided what I'll be drinking for Thanksgiving dinner.
All the flavors in the beer are very balanced and complimentary to one another. Which is quite the feat with everything that is going on here.
Incredibly smooth and full on the mouthfeel. I'm really digging this beer!

A little different than your average fall pumpkin beer. The belgian esters add a unique balance to the yams . This is my first yam beer, a root vegetable which in cooking typically adds less sweetness than pumpkin. As a result the belgian yeast and residual sugar added the needed sweet balance.

Overall a unique tasty beer, the only drawbacks were the minmal maple flavor and thee lack of cool weather in San Diego to truly enjoy this beer on the porch but who can complain with Thanksgiving outdoors.
