Pours a hazy honey gold with a nice fluffy cream colored head, about 2 and a half fingers high. Decent retention and lots of messy uneven lacing left on the glass.

Quite muted but pleasant. Citrus and pine, herbal dankness with some wet forest floor and vegetative aromas. A lot of centennial and citra in the nose. Honey malt breaks through enough to blend with the orange peel to liven it up a bit.

Honey malts are relatively in balance with the hops and do a good job keeping the sweetness down. Pine and citrus hop presence that keeps in step with the nose. Some herbal notes here and there. Quite a bit of alcohol in the finish along with decent bitterness that is long lasting.

Solid carbonation complements a heavier body touched up by the yeast. Doesn't dry well at all and the alcohol sticks around with the bitterness. Gets very tiring by the end of the bottle.

A decent DIPA that reminds me quite a bit of palate wrecker that turns down the bitterness a couple of notches. All sorts of hops here with adequate malt but the high alcohol presence and the heavier body do this no favors towards drinkability.

22 oz bomber pours a medium amber with fluffy white head and great lacing. Aroma is lemon, orange, and cotton candy. Taste is bitter piney hops with grapefruit and subtle honey. Malt is borderline oversweet, 9% alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is good and thick but harsh on the finish. This is a very good DIPA which I think could be great if the harsh finish were toned down.

Many thanks, again, to exraided for yet another delicious brew. Live review.

A cloudy golden beer is topped with a long lasting 2 fingers of thick, off white foam. Gradually the head relaxes and leaves thick slathers of lace.

Citrus dominates the aroma, grapefruit, orange peel, and lemon, with light notes of pine, floral, and herbal bitter floating atop some nice neutral sweet.

All the flavors of the nose come on immediately, but the pine is stronger in the mix. Less sweet than I anticipated, which is good, and the sip really has clean flavors that are strong and bright. End of sip is pine resin kick boxing with bitter pith for dominance, and I am the winner of this battle.

Nice bright carb., perhaps just a tad too much, nice thick body, perhaps not quite thick enough, and an excellent finish. Easy drinking and refreshing.

Quite a nice beer, one that shows that even the second tier of left coast offerings are outstanding. Recommended.

had on-tap at local habit.

a- screams ipa. more translucent gold with just a touch of amber at it's deepest point in the glass. decent head.

s- slightly muted hops. doesn't set off your ibu sensor, but does hint at a medley of hops.

t- and that hops medley works well together. they've done a great job balancing out the malts and hops. very, very drinkable with or without food. not going to wreck your palate, not going to leave you wanting more bitterness.

o- will happily drink this anytime. a solid double ipa. doesn't try to make you suffer, and doesn't have a clever name. just delivers.

Bomber from bevmo $5.99, no date.
Pours cloudy orange with great big chunks of yeast.
Smells great; apricots, honey, and grapefruit.
Tastes amazing, just like the nose with a little alcohol aftertaste. Not bad,I actually like it. Very much like old school Mongo before Port ruined it.
Highly recommended, buy it if you can get it.

Taste - Hops on the front and ride hard, but on the backswing, it really pulls back and the sweeter, citrusy-honey notes come forward. They said they used orange-blossom honey, and it does show up on the finish.

Overall - Impressive. The Double IPA, to me, isn't really THAT much different than a regular IPA...but in this category, I do say this is now the top beer I like. The sweet aftertaste really does wonders for enjoying the beer for me, and because its a honey-taste, it works with the citrusy notes of the hops.

Enjoy in moderation, because the taste does not indicate a 9.00% ABV.

22 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a N'Ice Chouffe beer stemflute in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live. Expectations are above average.

Served refrigerator cold and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor; I didn't anticipate any carbonation issues.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of white colour, fair cream, fair thickness, and good retention. Colour is a transparent copper. No floating yeast particles are visible.

Sm: Clean and pleasantly hoppy. More floral hops than bittering; mainly citra. Some light orange peel, but not as much as would be expected from say a standard hefeweizen. A mild strength aroma. No alcohol comes through.

T: Hoppy but imbalanced, with bitterness coming through in the third act. Honey helps cover the bitterness on the climax, along with the clean full bodied malts - which is a pleasant touch but just isn't enough. Some grapefruit adds complexity but also a strange balance. Some pine. It does have a lovely citrus undertone that really complements the hops well. No alcohol comes through. The honey was a good call. Decently balanced and pretty well built for the style.

Mf: Smooth and fairly wet, suiting the flavours pretty well. A biteen coarse and dry from the untamed hops. A touch too thick as well. Adequately carbonated.

Dr: Drinkable for the ABV and style, but not exemplary. Decently priced. The ABV is very well hidden. I like it generally, but there are far better double IPAs to be had. The untamed bitterness is its biggest problem. I wouldn't have this again, except maybe on draught. Will satsify fans of the style.

Three finger sized off white head. Lacing all over the glass, very hazy, and a murky yellow body.

Pineapple, pine, orange, grapefruit, sweet malts, and a light floral aroma. The Simcoe is a giving off a very strong presence here.

Sweet pine flavor, citrus fruits, pineapple, orange/lemon zest, and pine. Nice dry finish with a mild lingering hop bitterness. Some spice on the palate as well, which to me is a negative aspect here. I do enjoy hop and yeast spice but this feels slightly out of place. Medium body with a touch of sweetness that seems to be more from the malts than the honey. The honey might be smoothing out some aspects but overall it doesn't seem to be a huge factor.

A pretty standard DIPA, but well executed. Nothing here that is gonna blow your mind, but certainly this is an enjoyable beer. No complaints, but I can think of plenty of other DIPA's I would pick over this one.

Poured on tap as part of a flight at the Bruery Provisions. Poured in a 5 oz tulip glass. Reviewed from notes.

A- Light, watery white head. Orangish color and cloudy.

S- Very floral and fruity. The smell was wonderful and had notes of papaya and other tropical fruits. Best part of the beer.

T- Bitter and it loses much of the flavor in the nose. But booziness and acidity don't ruin the flavor entirely. Average.

M- Light bodied but some fizzy carbonation.

O- Fails to capitalize on the smell, which is top notch. Otherwise a very average beer.

Pours a hazy light orange coloured body, with a generous retained cloud of a head. Great fruit aroma, orange and tropical. Tremendous flavour, and gets better as it goes, great with several courses of my dinner, complementing the fish, the veal, bread, soup. Grapefruit, orange, tangerine, and tropical. tremendous DIPA without the full frontal assault on the palate. Very smooth. I would have this again and soon. This bottle alone worth the baggage check-in loading up on bottles from my recent LA trip.

22oz bomber with no bottle date. Poured this one into The Bruery snifter (RIP), both thanks to beerman4!

A: Pours a cloudy, unfiltered orange color. A finger plus of fluffy white head. Not a lot of lacing or alcohol feet.

S: Lots of orange and citrus notes. A little bit of grapefruit. And definitely the normal DIPA malt backing.

T: Actually tastes more like a single IPA. You get some hop bitterness on the tip of the tongue. But yes, the sweet malt balance of the DIPA comes through in the middle. Close is actually sweet and not overly bitter. It's actually a really pleasant for a DIPA.

M: Medium bodied.

O: B+

Look: Orange and semi translucent with a 1/4 inch head and ok retention

Smell: Tropical fruits upfront with a touch of caramel malt

Taste: The flavor for me did not work at all. The beer has a medicinal grapefruit character to it with some citrus behind that with a pretty big malty backbone

Mouthfeel: Medium body and medium carbonation

Overall: This beer just did not work at all for me probably Hangar's worst offering

Medium orange, slightly hazy with a one finger head that leaves light lacing. Pretty good head retention for the abv.

The aroma is very light and only when the beer gets to be pretty warm does it release some pineapple. Juicy citrus flavor that is quickly overtaken by an aggressive bitterness. Very peppery and sharp. The components of a nice dipa are there, but they seem to get in each others way.

Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Nice body for the 9% abv.

Some potential here, but I think this brew needs some tweaking to keep up with the tough competition in this area.

A - Pours a hazy burnt orange with 2 fingers of beige head that sticks around a looong time. Minimal lacing.

S - Lots of citrusy hops on this one. Grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, a touch of grass in there as well. Malt is present, but definitely not anywhere near the hops. Really nice smelling beer.

T - First sip is of nothing but bubblegum. Further sips bring on more of the bubblegum, and also a bit citrus and a good amount of alcohol. Not what I was expecting at all.

M - Light bodied and good carbonation. Leaves your mouth nice and dry.

O - A decent DIPA. The bubblegum taste is kinda off-putting for me, but the beer behind that is a nice one.

Poured into a Hangar 24 pint glass at Steingarten LA. Orange color with an ample white head that holds on. The aroma is a mix of citrus, tropical, with some cotton candy thrown in as well as some fresh bread notes. The taste follows this theme- this is one highly drinkable brew with only a slight bitter character. Orange Blossom Honey is used in the recipe to give the malt backbone a gentle push in the sweet direction. Citra, Simcoe, Columbus, and Centennial hops are used, making the beer quite aromatic and floral.
This beer will start making appearances in bottles soon. That's good news for beer fans and another great addition to the Southern California IPA style.

Pours murky orange gold. Yellow highlights are present. The smallish off white head leaves behind tons of lacing.

Smell is grapefruit, tangy, citrusy. There is a hint of the malt, flowers and booze.

Taste is juicy, tropical. Clean and powerful. Finished with a pithy bitterness.

The brew is perfectly carbonated, almost light and easy, yet powerful. A clean crisp finish makes me want more.

Easily the the DIPA I have tried since PtE. Bitter, juicy, easy to drink. A great punch in the face. I will definitely be getting more.

a murky golden (straw like) in color. white head with ok retention.

a lot of tropical fruit ( mango, pineapple) citrus hops. with a mild malty backbone

this is definitely a hop bomb, fruity (pineapple) and some pine notes.

light bodied and high carbonation

overall it's a nice year round DIPA, nothing to get to excited over though

Wow, I feel like maybe I am drinking a different beer than everyone else on here. I found this beer to be pretty fantastic. Good spicy aroma, great white foam head. Citrusy, hoppy taste. Severe bitterness in a good way that stays on the tongue just long enough. Refreshing, yet dry. Overall, I found this beer to be way better than expected after reading reviews.

Pours a murky honey orange with a 1 inch foamy bone color head that settles to an island of foam on the top of the beer. Thin tightly packed rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. A small amount of sediment is floating around in this one. Smell is all about the hops: floral, herbal, citrus zest, and some tropical fruit aromas as well. Taste up front is of the hops followed by a sweet malt backbone. The label says this one is brewed with honey but I am not getting any of it in the smell or taste. There is an assertive and astringent hop bitterness that sits on the top of the tongue with each sip. This beer has a medium body with a light and crisp level of carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty good DIPA that would be better in my opinion if the bitterness was dialed back a bit.

Bomber to a FW pint glass
*No bottling date however the shop clerk mentioned this one was packaged on/or around Christmas

A: Pours a soft golden hue with some slight haze to it and a perfect two fingers stack of off-white heady foam. Slips down slowly into a halo never fully dissipating. Leaves some tracked beads of lace across the glass.

S: Smell leads with pine then grapefruit and citrus with a tropical mango/papaya twist to it. Sweet caramelized malts and some alcohol. Reminds me kind of like Hopslam.

T: Taste is pine and fruity hops up front as well. Lots of grapefruit and some pineapple. Bitter melon with a little bit of dank herb and spice midway. Tropical with some sweet breaded maltiness. Moderate bitters. A touch of alcohol in flavor as well. A bit sweet but with a lighter dry finish. All in all pretty good. A little clumsy balance wise but tasty.

M: Medium body with a real creamy texture and even carb. Makes for a lighter frothy mouthfeel. Slight oily resinous coating. A bit of a harsh drying finish.

D: Overall a pretty solid DIPA with lots of nice pine and tropics. The hoppiest brew to come out of Hangar 24 yet. Still needs some refining IMO with a bit too much sweetness and a dry harsh alcohol finish. Very reminiscent of a more tropical Hopslam with the sweet orange blossom honey. Not sure if I am a real fan of honey additions in an IPA but this ain’t half bad.

Would pick up again at $6/bomber.

App- A very deep burnt orange with some yellow and gold highlights. Giant 2-1/2 finger head that was a bit off white but left some amazing lush full and sticky lines of cling down the glass.

Smell- Very earthy with some grass, hay, orange and yeast. A bit of a fuller nose and smells very malty as well. One of those malt bombs that doesnt really do it for me. Missing a backing citrus note on the the aromatics.

Taste- This is a big earthy, damp and malty DIPA. Its pretty good for a profile I am not normally drawn too. I picked this up because I want to support local and didn't know much about the beer. It's very boozy with a bit of pepper and a lot of malt and caramel. A tad lacking in balance and slightly sweet for such a large beer.

Mouth- A medium body and a light/medium carbonation. A bit more body to it with some deep earthy and grassy notes. A bit one sided and malty w/o any real balance to a fruit note. The hops and malt create a pretty spicy and thick note as well.

Drink- So between the looks and everything else of this beer, It's a good beer. I don't really lean to this thick full pepper, but this was good. I'd like to see this one on tap.

Tulip

A - Bright California orange sunset, one finger slightly off white head and some sticky lacing

S - Very sweet, tropical fruits and flowers, slight resin, pine, tons of citrus, a slightly toasted malt nose and a slightly sweet yeast note

T - Wow, this is great, fresh and refreshing! Nice sweet up front, citrus, tropical/island fruits and flowers, weed, crisp water, very nice pine, roasted malts on the back bone and more sweet.

M - Medium bodied, well balanced, nice complexity, medium minus acidity and nice refreshingly medium plus finsih

D/O - Really nice, refreshing CA DIPA/Imperial IPA. For the hop head, give this one a try. I saw the rating and reviews, what were they reviewing? This isn't the Columbus IPA or the single hopped DIPA. It has great hop, a nice malt and very sweet and sticky

Final Thought - $6 a pop, 9% abv and very tasty and refreshing! I need to pick up a few more! Loves it!

22 oz. bomber,

A: Pours orange with a medium white head. Good retention, great concentric lace.

S: Definite notes of orange and lemon zest, citrus, really no malt character.

T: Fair amount of mint upfront, spicy hops with a lot of grapefruit and lemon. Hop forward this is West Coast all the way even coming from the Inland Empire. Good, not blowing me away.

M: Medium-bodied, frothy carbonation, has some booze on the back end which gives a somewhat solventy finish instead of a powerful hop aftertaste that I like in DIPAs. Low-medium finishing length compared to others in its style.

D: With Columbus, Citra and Simcoe (3 of my favourite hops) in the brew I was real excited to try this. A solid West Coast IPA, that's what it is. Not too expensive, under $6 a bomber which is great in the style nowadays. Worth a try.

I didn't know what to expect from this one. I like this brewery but haven't been very impressed with their IPA's.

A - Dark yellow and kinda cloudy.

S - Smell some citrus hops and not much else.

T - You get the citrus hops up front and then kinda of nothing in the middle and it ends with some hops bitterness.

M - it's ok; a bit thin.

O - This is a double IPA that can use some improvement and just doesn't excite me at all in any way. Disappointed with this one.

Picked up two bottles from the brewery...

Poured from a bomber into a Bruery snifter...

A - Pours a darker orange with a one finger off white head. Head retention is decent, and there is a good amount of sticky lacing to be had...

S - Lots of citrus notes. Tangerines and grapefruit with some sweet malt in the mix...

T - Grapefruit, oranges and some tangerine. Malt comes through and balances this one out nicely with a little pine in the finish...

M - Super smooth. Medium bodied with a lower amount of carboantion...

O - If you're looking for a hop bomb, look elsewhere. This one is very well balanced, and drinks really smooth. Definitely something I will be buying again in the near future...
