A: Medium to medium+ hazy, straw color. Pours with about a 1/2 finger head of fine white bubbles that dissipate quickly.

S: Smells like zesty grapefruit rinds up front, with some sweety malts in the rear. Very little indication of hops from the smell.

T: Not too far off the smell; a bit of citrus acid up front, and then (milder than smell) malts, finished by (more intense than smell) hops. The hop finish isn't very intense compared to other beers, it's just much more prevalent in the taste and not in the smell. Doesn't taste boozy at all, despite the 9.0% abv.

M: Pretty sticky; thick to thick+ mouthfeel, and a little slow. Carbonation is good (medium to medium+). Pretty much what you want out of a DIPA.

O: Nice beer. I wish I could brew DIPAs that were this light in color. Not a ton of hops, but it still balances well even at 9.0% abv.

Consumed on February 12th, 2013. Poured into a standard pint glass.

Beer is a cross between light burnished copper and deep honey. Very clear. Lots of carbonation. An off-white, nearly-yellow head a finger high forms and provides excellent sheeting on the glass long after it has subsided.

Aromatic in exactly the way expected: piney and grapefruity hops.

Flavor is big and assertive without being overbearing. A little caramel malt quickly gives way to piney and ruby red grapefruit notes. The beer is surprisingly sweet for all that, however. Bitterness is middling to high, but far less than some DIPAs I've had.

This thing is not a hop bomb, but instead a fairly balanced and drinkable brew.

Mouthfeel is slightly thick and a little oily. Decent though not outstanding carbonation and not as dry as might be expected.

Overall, I'd drink this one again.

Saw this at Trader Joe's; saw the ABV of 9.0%; figured "What have I got to lose?"

I don't rate appearance so I just averaged out the other ratings and that's what it gets.

Popped the crown of this bomber and got hit with a very pleasant and strong citrus/pine/floral nose. I knew I was in for a good drink! There was something else in that smell...

First drink: Yes! Fine fresh strong hops and... what was that?... not really floral but...

Ah! The honey! I read the bottle: brewed with generous additions of local orange blossom honey. For anyone who has even been in an orange grove in spring, that orange blossom smell is as intoxicating as nature can deliver. This beer hammers on the hops in no uncertain terms, but it is very well balanced with the malts. And the honey, which is very evident in the taste, though not distracting, just caps the complexity of a finely crafted brew.

Overall: recommended! It is high in alcohol so, you know... beware and all that. If you crave the big hops, this is not a bad way to go.
