I really enjoy a Biere de Garde with a meal or by itself,a vastly underrated style in my humble opinion. This poured into an oversized wine glass a rich full golden with just a hint of orange hue,a clingy near creamy-like white head atop.Aromas of wet grain and some mineral, and slightly sweet dough.Flavors have a big pilsner malt bready quality that alot of the style do,some semi sweet toffee and light white pepper spice round out the finish.I like it,a beer to savor and enjoy, very nice.

Had this on draft 10/19/19 @ the Beer Temple.
Banana, caramel & faint clove flavors here; rich but very drinkable, and way bolder flavors than I was expecting. I'd have another!!

Thanks to JLindros for sharing this bottle.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice slightly hazy with tons of turbidity.
S - Big aromas of grassy floral hops, soft corn, light and pleasant, dry nose.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of esters, flashes of grassy hops and light bitterness. Finish is estery.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, crisp, clean.
O - Overall this was a solid enough de garde. Excellent ester characteristics.

Reviewed as part of BJCP training, 24C. Biere de Garde. I think the bottle code says June 14, 2017, but not sure, but that could just be a code and I'm getting more than it should have.
Fills a decent head but low retention as it fades quickly, super hazy sediment laden yeast sediment due to the age likely, blond deeper gold color
Nose brings a ton of Belgian golden sweet malts, toasty and a little bready with a candi sugar and almost syrupy sweetness, rich complex almost layered malt aromas, a bit of yeast additions with mild spice phenols, citrus esters, and a touch of warming spicy alcohol. Although the style says generally clean fermentation, these seem to shy into the saison area with malt more in the biere de garde, and are very welcome aromatics. As it warms a slight aged oxidation, papery note, expected with the age
Taste high malt flavor again, very toasty rich, little bready, big Belgian blonde like honey malts, but very complex and rich, layered almost decoction like malt complexity, as well as a sweet candi sugar like flavor, then a wave of nice warming alcohol, inviting peppery phenols with the spicy alcohol, a touch of fruity citrus esters, a mild hop bitterness balancing the malts and yeast additions, also bringing maybe a slight spiciness as well. A drier finish, a touch sticky, bit more perfumey alcohol and spicy phenols lingering with the mild honey malt characters
Mouth is medium to a bit lighter bodied, a little smooth creamy texture and lager softness, very high carbonation which gets a little prickly and increases the spiciness of the warming alcohol
Overall a very nice enjoyable beer. Delicious malt characters, complex, nice yeast additions a bit more on the saison side but still enjoyable, a nice warming alcohol hits the spot but might get a little hot for the style, and carbonation might also be a tad high (probably both from extra bottle conditioning over time). Still quite nice.

Translucent gold, lots of champagne carbonation, medium soapy head, small yeast globules. Aroma is earthy, slightly sweet & delightful - apple must, bees wax, honeycomb, white grape tannin, straw and light horse saddle. Taste leans more towards that sweeter side but presents enough contrast to maintain balance. Notes of white grape must, mineral water, honey, dry yeast, loam, cider, oak, light grassy hops on the end. Finish is very dry, like mineral water. Lots of depth, good contrast but it marries well. Didn’t love the finish but still a very goos beer.
